View Full Version : My Xbox got mad at me, need help

My & a friend were playing offline for about an hour. During a fight the game completely froze, & the Xbox made a funny screeching sound. Then it quickly ejected & spit the disk out about 3 feet from the Xbox.

I left it off for a few minutes & tried the same & another game, but it doesn't seem to read any disks. It lets me sign into live from the menu with no disk.

So is my Xbox fucked or could something simple like a DVD drive cleaner fix it? Anyone had this happen? Should I call those damn hippies at Microsoft support?

First I've heard of that. Call MS. I don't think a drive cleaner would work, if anything it needs to be swapped out.

Sounds like your drive is shot. Never heard of that happening like that though. Call ms, they will probably fix it for free. They did it for me twice already.

Ok I just talked with those hippies at Xbox support. They said since my Xbox is older than 3 months that I have to by a service fee to get it fixed which is $79.95! Wtf? That's almost as much as a new Xbox! I talked to a manager & got it down to $59.90, but still. This sucks ass.

Well, hurry and get it fixed or get a new Xbox so I can make your OCV list.

I'm not getting it fixed for that price. Screw that. If I can't find an Xbox cheap I'll cancel my Live account.

Is there a better one under $40?

Man that is bullshit... They fixed mine once about 3 years ago then fixed it again recently for free. Do they have different policy's in different states or something?

Nah, they were just scared you might tell them to take a walk.

Pretty much. Even if the machine is out of warranty MS are very lax with their repair policy. Im sure you could get a free service from them, especially since you are an XBL customer. Just voice your concerns over the Xbox's build quality and your XBL suscription and the free service is as good as guaranteed. They even pay for the machines postage, and get it back to you pretty sharpish.

Edit..

Just bothered reading the rest of the thread. I still think you should call again. I know so many people who have had the free repair service with machines that were out of warranty. Its got to be worth a shot. I was put on hold twice before they finally agreed to fix mine for free.

I guess it can't hurt to try again, but I talked to a supposed manager. They also likely have my call on record attached to my serial number, name or something.

I would just call every day or so. "Gonna fix this POS XBox for free yet? No? Well its around that time to renew my Xbox Live subscription, guess I'll just sell it as is and not renew."

I'd be suprised if they last a week if you did it.

The rep hung up on me when I started telling him how his mother sucks cow dick and his father was a corner hooker for a cafe in Athens, in Greek.

I got my xbox fixed for 39.99 with a 3 months warrenty and free shipping(29.99, they pay for shipping). Just let them know that you have xbox live. I'll be back on xbox live to own you scrubs for free.

$39.99 I could deal with, at the most. I gotta call them again. WoW is still keeping me busy though.
