I've got that Guitar game and fuck I have no idea how to actually do anything other than the simple notes.

You can play along cos they have a uhh, tell you what notes to play w/the lyrics but you gotta memorize the cords and doing it through the dpad feels awkward.

The first three were released on GBA first. They haven't remade the third one on DS yet. The 4th one is all new with a new main character.

Hotel Dusk (not dust!) is pretty good so far. The story gets you wanting to keep playing to find out what happens next, and the gameplay is pretty fun. I've only played for about an hour so far, so I haven't really come up against anything really hard, but it looks like it'll hold up to the hype. If you're looking for it, check out Wal Mart.

Well, its kinda underground hype. Once the reviews started coming in for it (EGM: 8, 8, 10 for example), people started noticing. The art style of the game helped, too. If you check certain message boards and sites, there's a lot of "sleeper hype" if there's such a thing.

I agree. According to a source, the Phoenix Wright 2 sales figures will determine if Capcom will continue with PW American releases. So, if you love Phoenix Wright, be sure to buy the game and support the cause, otherwise no objection for you!

I'd really like to see more of this franchise come out especially the 4th one because its a game that is specifically created for the DS since the first 3 were just GBA ports with touch screen capabilities.

I download too, but not to screw developers out of money, but just for convinience. Having a ROM card that holds 20 games is a lot more convinient than bringing 20+ DS boxes or even just the games themselves in some carry all bag. Hell, even the act of inserting/removing a game from the DS slot wears down and causes card reading problems. In all honesty, I still buy DS games that I like to show support (PoR, PW2, FFIII, etc), but for mediocre/crap games, I couldn't care less.

This app enables the DS to control lights and appliances from anywhere via wifi. The DS becomes the ultimate X10 home automation controller.
Virtually all the lights in my house can be controlled remotely via X10. I decided it would be nice to use the stylus to not only change the brightness of the DS Lite screen but also the house. The standard X10 controllers only work from within the house. I have used my DS to turn on my porch lights, while standing on my relatives porch, 100 miles away from my house.

Fucken hardcore hahaha. Need x10 hardware.

Not being sarcastic or anything, but how is it cheaper? With the DS you need to purchase additional hardware, where with the PSP all you need really is an internet connection and the USB cable that came with the system.

Total comes to $260.

DS Lite - $130

I think we can agree that a person who wants to download and play games for free isn't going to have any compunctions about purchasing an additional compnent.

It actually requires brainpower to get ISO Loaders, firmware downgraders, and firmware emulators(such as devhook) to run on the PSP, but with the DS, all it takes is inserting the flash cart, plugging the USB cable into the computer, and from there, it's just drag & drop.

it was pretty cheap to play backups on my DS only $30

i flashed it with someone elses EZpass a long time ago, had a 2 gig miniSD card already for my phone and i just needed the cart to read it which i got for $30

PSP games are several hundred megabytes in size.

Need For Speed: Carbon is 745MB. Tekken: Dark Ressurection is 710MB. Lumines II is 373MB. Syphon Filter is 418MB. That being said, 512 MB is not going to do it justice, and 1GB isn't much better, especially if you want to store other things such as movies.

It is easy to run the ISO's on both platforms, that I'm not denying, but with the DS, it's simply plug & play whereas you have to install and configure software, downgrade firmware, etc with the PSP.

A friend of mine has the Onyx DS Lite and she polishes it compulsively. She even got a case that came with a special cloth to clean it with just because the fingerprints were driving her nuts. :rofl:

I have the onyx DS Lite, and I don't really notice any fingerprints unless I hold it up to the light and look for them.

Just won Kirby Canvas Curse brand new on ebay for $31.49 shipped, which is pretty good considering that it was going for $40-$50 in the other auctions.

Lunar Knights looks good, never played its predecessors though (Boktai 1 and 2).

Spirit Caller isn't worth $30 unless you're willing to work/potentially sign your life away for decent cards. Flashcart FTW, not to mention a huge GGPO for those who netdeck or can't work with "primitive" themes. It's a great game to tide you over until WCT '07, but I wouldn't expect anything special in general.

I'm on Chapter 6 as well, and I agree, game just keeps on getting better and better. Honestly, at the moment, I've put every game on hold until I've finished it, cause to me, it's that good.

I hope it's a lot better than spirit caller, because i'm tired of walking around trying to fine "events" to progress my game. Also, I haven't picked it up in a week and i'm not that interested in it anymore. Blahhh.

Also, i'm thinking of picking up one of those super cart devices to put my gba games on. I hate the fact that the GBA cart sticks out about .5 inches of the DS Lite. Its so annoying to look at and touch when i'm playing it... If anyone can give me the details on what to do/get i'd appreciate it. I got FFV for Christmas and there is no way I want to play 40+ hrs with that cart bulging out...

I need some screen protectors for my DS. Thing is, I don't want them to be those shitty ones you put on palm pilots and all this other shit. They're ugly, cloudy (not clear at all) and they suck. There's gotta be a better alternative.

Look for Hori Screen protectors, they're the best around (and nothing they can do can stop you now).

... ahem. They're imports, but I know they used to carry them at Rhino Video Games (if you have one in your area), but they might have them at GS/EB. They come in Lite or regular.

I got the Protect Filters since I am paranoid about scratches and fingerprints. They still get fingerprints on them but at least they're on the filters and not the DS Lite itself.

That's a really tough call quiche. For me Hotel Dusk was a very satisfying experience and I have nothing but praise for the game. What makes it difficult to recommend one over the other, for me however, is the fact that I have yet to play any of the Phoenix Wright games and form any kind of opinion towards them.

Now with all of that said, my suggestion is if you want to go with the safe bet, go with Phoenix Wright. I say this due to the fact that I have yet to hear anything negative about the series and it has a relatively large fan base.

BTW, aside from some subtle character references, Hotel Dusk and Trace Memory have nothing to do with each other in terms of storyline.

Is it worth playing through Elite Beat Agents? After going through the cheerleader stage in Ouendan and then having to start on the "Normal" difficulty in EBA, things are just too slooow. Does the difficulty pick up in the harder modes? (in comparison to Ouendan)

Yes EBA is pretty much exactly like Ouendan, where it gets harder once you beat normal, and then after that there's an equivalent to the cheerleaders.

Just finished Hotel Dusk: Room 215 about 5 minutes or so ago. Sum it up real quick, IT'S DAMN GOOD.

Last 2 chapters had some pretty good puzzles/scenarios and the story line wraps up really smooth. It's worth every cent if you're into the visual novel/noir/point 'n click genre and still a good buy if you're not.

For those of you who have yet to give it a try for yourself, I suggest you do so if you have the means. Just be sure to give the game a chance and play to Chapter 3-5.

When it comes to current DS titles this is on top of the list for me.

I've got to agree with everything you've just said. I just finished Hotel Dusk: Room 215 a few hours ago and I'm quite satisfied. The story was just amazing and it was paced very well. The only problem iwth the game is that it's now over for me.

It's because of games like this that I'm glad that I bought my DS and got a Gamefly subscription. Now I just wish that I could find a cheap DS Lite.

It's pretty crazy. I ride a straight-up salary man train to work every day and I often see no less than 2 people a car playing their DS. That's a fuckload when you consider all the cars on a train, how many trains a day and of those how many people are brave enough to whip theirs out.
i did the same thing when i was catching busses and metros in montreal in december. and had 3 ladies start conversations with me about badass the ds lite is.

Well, if you like in depth fighting more similar to Street Fighter, I'd say go with Bleach. Jump Ultimate Stars is a little Smash Brothers like in terms of play, but its still pretty fun. A lot of stuff to unlock. I haven't played the new Bleach yet, but I'm planning on picking it up soon.

Yeah Bleach characters, especially ichigo are extremely popular online. And the fact is its more like having 8 different versions of ichigo to play from because of the koma system in ultimate.

As far as Bleach DS, I recomend not getting the first one. I'm debating on whether to order Bleach DS 2nd.

i got JUS to hold me over until the bleach ds 2 release... and i'm glad i did cause it is a really fun game, and there are always people on wifi to play against... unlocking all the stuff can get a little tedious, but there was never a point where i just wanted to call the game off...

What's wrong with DKR on DS? I never played the original, but the port seems okay. Not the best cart racer ever, but enjoyable. The touch-based features are annoying as shit though, especially the pop-balloons-as-you-fly-by crap.

I didnt buy the game bacuse its just no where near as good as Mario Kart DS. Its not a horrible port but its not good either.

Another game that sparked my interest is the import Death Note game. I assume it's going to be text heavy so I won't bother importing it. I just hope that the series catches on over here and Konami is kind enough to localize it *knocks on wood*. :sweat:

Just beat Hotel Dusk. Very solid game. During the middle chapters figuring out everybody's secrets I was like "this seems pointless", but then it all comes together very nicely at the end. Some of the puzzles were a tad unrefined, but overall it was still a very enjoyable experience.

It isn't bad, think of it as Ace Combat instead of that shit Star Fox Command. There is some slight "slowdown" or when the controls feel sluggish.

The lock(ed) on effects are just non stop whining, I had to listen to anything but the game.

If the DS had more buttons, I would've liked the game to handle like AC. Or maybe I haven't unlocked enough planes to do all the loops and barrel rolls.

I read somewhere that Capcom will progessively decide on whether or not Phoenix Wright games will come to the U.S. based on the game sales. So, if you want Phoenix Wright 3 to come out, support the scene and buy the game!

Well, I meant because the contest is asking to persuade Capcom of America to bring PW3 to the US. The other ones were ported by CoJ to the DS, then brought here by Capcom of America. With no Japanese PW3 DS on the horizon, that would mean that they either translate the GBA version and release it here, or port it to the DS themselves.

Cause I'd honestly hate to purchase the game and then be scrapping the bottom of the barrel for matches on a constant basis (read: Bomberman Land Touch!). :bluu:

There are endless possiobilites as to how you can set up your Decks, and the online play is huge right now; there is ALWAYS something to do.

EDIT: Is it only possible to play online with thw wifi adaptor, or will it wokr on any wireless connection

I haven't noticed the difference between the two in terms of sound quality, but moreso in terms of comfort and performance. There are only a few minor qualms I have with the design (size of the start and select buttons, placement of the L & R buttons, etc.) Although it might take a few days to get used to it (especially if you have huge hands), my black DS Lite was by far one of the wiser purchases I've made in the last year or so. The only semi-serious gripe I have with it are the occasional hand cramps from constant play because of the L & R buttons.

Nintendo claims it only works like 100 feet away or something to that effect, but they tested it and it works from over 300 feet away. That's pretty far. As for Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney I can't say much is wrong with the game. If you've been following this thread for a while then you'll know how everyone (or practically everyone) loves this game whole-heartedly. Ok, back to the pros and cons:

Pros
- Incredible and addictive story that's filled with plenty of enjoyable characters.
- Well drawn animations for the characters
- You can actually use the microphone to say things like "Objection!" (you don't have to say it to play the game but if you want to then you have that option).

Cons
- The game is very text heavy so if you can't take a lot of reading then this game might not be for you.
- At some points in the game the challenges you encounter will boil down to just trial and error (only if you don't know what to do).

Even though I didn't list many pros for the game don't let that fool you. This game is the best thing I've ever played for on my DS in the past year and a half.

ff3 has no story whatsoever, it's combat is really basic and the job system is spoken highly of because people have fond childhood memories of it. i'd give it 4/10

megaman - i spent a lot of time wandering around fighting hardly any enemies getting bored. The boss fights were pretty good but overall this was the shittest megaman game i've played. 2.5/10.

I have enjoyed a number of games on my DS, i'm not just hating on random games, just those mentioned here recently that didn't live up to my expectations.

I just bought a GBA-SP off my buddy who has a few of them, and I was wondering besides Zelda:Link to the past, FF6, and FFT Advance, what are the most solid games to buy for it?

If you like strategy based RPG's I highly recommend Yggdra Union. It came out not too long ago and is made by the same group who did the cult hit Riviera: The Promised Land (which is a great RPG for the SP as well).

Check it out, I purchased as a blind buy and have no regrets.

Hell yeah man. This is seriously the game I've been craving ever since playing Tetris on wifi. Panel De Pon wifi action is gonna be beast.

I wrote about my impressions on Hotel Dusk: Room 215 a couple of pages back. Sum up what I said, I loved every minute of it. Damn good game.

ff3 has no story whatsoever, it's combat is really basic and the job system is spoken highly of because people have fond childhood memories of it. i'd give it 4/10

New estimated release date is April 30th.

They best be revamping that battle issues, cause I want to get my hands on this game damnit. :bluu:

old news really, the delay was noticeable if you were watching the release dates on gamefaqs. though lately SNKP has pushed back the release dates for a few of their games, and even canceled the Metal Slug port for the gba which i was hoping to check out. and imo it's highly unlikely that the game issues will be fixed but who knows maybe we'll get lucky

Anybody else got Lunar Knights?

AMAZING game. Easily one of the best I've ever played on the DS. It has a near-perfect blend of action and RPG with an awesome variety of weapons. It's cool that you can switch between a melee-fighting character (Lucian) and a gunslinging one (Aaron). Keeps the gameplay fresh and each one actually has a use (IE, Lucian usually doles out better damage against single enemies and bosses but Aaron can easily plow through fields of smaller enemies and even snipe bigger ones before taking the risk of getting damaged). The difficulty is just perfect, with the game actually being challenging and you WILL die if you're not careful yet it's not frustrating. The weather system is awesome and that means no more solar sensor, the reason I never bought the original Boktai games. There are ways to elementally power up your weapons in the form of little creatures called "Terrenials", adding strategy, too.

GET THIS GAME, NOW. It has fucking CUTSCENES WITH VOICE ACTING and everything! Top-notch game. I fear that it may not sell enough and Konami won't bring the second installment here (just like Boktai 3 never made it here). BUY THIS GAME FOR GREAT JUSTICE!

Oh and the 'colored boxes' too haha. I need to do more loot / money drops.

I don't like the spaceship segments too much though...

The weather system and colored boxes can only really be appreciated as part of the gameplay when you have all the terrenials, IMO.

The only real loot drops you need to get are the 4 junk parts, which never become available to buy. Causing a rainbow (after it rains and it's sunny outside) or meteor shower (Balmy Subtropical climate at night) causes near 100% item drop ratios. The difficulty is finding which enemies drop which.

I LOVE the shooting stages. It's boring in the first one but they get challenging and fast-paced later on.

I'm pretty sure you can play WFC wifi, but not sure about local wifi. Meaning you should be able to connect to people in the states (in Mario Kart, you can play with Japanese players), but if its multi-card wireless play (local wifi), you might not be able to connect with a US card.

got bleach ds 2 this weekend... i just have a few things in part c in story mode and then all of part D to complete, then i will have unlocked everyone...

it feels very similar to the first one... a couple of popular returning characters have been changed a bit, most notably (for me) aizen...

the joke characters are upsetting... they are noticably weaker than the main characters for the most part (i guess that's natural) and have a limited special move pool, c'est la vie.. the story mode, although tedious, is not nearly as difficult or challenging as i thought it'd be... there's a free play mode where you can choose the character to play as when trying to get 100% for the missions, so that's fun...

the new card/gem system is interesting and adds another dimension to the gameplay... i couldn't find a faq anywhere, so i had to go through trial and error to figure stuff out, and still haven't completely got it down...

i haven't played the wifi yet, though...

Running around seriously is not possible when ur playing a good opponent. Not only that but playing too defensivly is bad as well. With people like dio, patch, and many others who have a constant pressure game guarding against everything is Extremly costly, and dont think running away will help u. You also forget there are komas that track players. Instants and speed characters. also gay moves like time stop. Do not be a scrub and make stupid statements go and play alot with japanese people get ur ass handed too and then talk to me. Dont play stupid american scrubs when u have wifi. Case closed.

Got to say, snatch up Megaman ZX too. The map in the game isn't the best, like many people have already said, but I personally like the challenge in the game. (Excluding the map) Every part in the game has a different environment, with its own unique music, which is very good by the way. Another feature I'm liking in this as well, is the different armors that you get and can switch to on the fly. If you've enjoyed Megaman games in the past, or just want something that can be both challenging and a nice waste of your time, get this one with your collection.

New Super Mario Bros is another good game to add, with its 2.5D atmosphere, with a 3D look on a 2D plane. It's a very good game, and brings back the old school Mario to a new generation.

Advance Wars DS, simply one of the best strategy games on the DS. Sadly, WiFi wasn't put on this game, since it was made before WiFi started to be included to games, however, get a few buddies with this, and watch the chaos. With different units with different strengths and weaknesses, and COs with their own unique special abilities (And the Dual CO Power move) it's a great buy.

Its a smash type of game... what do u expect. Bleach 2nd DS is more of a traditional game. I never said the game was balanced but its not broke because of all the combinations u can do. There is no real top tear because of the litteraly huge amount of combinations you can do. Stop complaining and enjoy a good game on the DS. Bleach 2nd is better but this game is definatly a whole lot of fun. by the way pressing down up is dangerous. And im not saying theres cheap shit in this game.. cause there is... but its the fact that every character has some cheap shit that makes it balanced so relize that and play the game more.

mario 3on3 hoops is worse than i thought. doesn't even let me play against other people. even though it says they don't have to have the game to play against them.
When i use multiplayer it just sits there seeking other ds but the other ds doesn't pick up their signal ever. But when i play MarioKart my opponent gets the signal real fast. Mario hoops is the worse 30 bucks i spent my money on!

Honestly, I would play with more japanese if they didn't triple team in ffa's, then sit around and taunt until time runs out. If there was any way to change the settings so you could do 1v1s i'd be all for saying screw gamefaqs.

I assume you're talking about Bomberman Land Touch!?

If so finding wifi matches is a absolute pain, and when you do find people to play they're usually Diamond rank players that gang rape the hell out of you. :bluu: Also be aware that the game tends to lag pretty bad when playing on wifi for some unknown reason.

I pretty much retired the game, but if you're looking for someone to play I can hop on a couple of times. Here's my friend code:
