How do those special moves work? I hit one and it disapeared but that was it and then the enemy fucked me up. I take it those special moves take a certain amount of mana that you have to generate in order to do them, but what's the way you do it? Do those special moves just take out one puzzle piece? IF so, I should always go for the damage ones right?

The special moves, or skills, are shown on the left side of the touch screen. You can see how much mana is required for each one, and if you touch the Help button and then touch one of the skills, you can see what the skill does. You can see the enemy's skills by touching the View Enemy button.

Matching mana gems will give you mana. Just match the ones you need to use whatever skill you want to use. Some skills will take out gems on the board, but others will do damage directly to your opponent or inflict a status ailment. Skills can give you protection, heal you, or change the colour of certain mana gems.

If you're using the Wizard, learn Mana Burn as fast as you can and never stop using it.

If you're using the Knight, build up your earth / fire and get items that give you + xx at the start of every match. iirc, I start w/enough to do 6 stuns in a row plus or minus the 4+ in a row pairs.

I forgot who has frozen touch, but it reduces opponent hp by half. So Chivalry (level 40, gives both ppl full mana reserves) w/FT = gg.

Some boards, for the initial set of turns offer the same results.
ie: Bottom left as a set of skulls you can match, while the upper half has an L shaped section of reds. Match the skulls, then the vertical portion of reds, then the coins and eventually a 4 pair of blues come up or something like that. Pretty sure that happened every single time on that particular board.

Thanks for the honest answer; it sounds like a great game, but everyone I've asked has essentially said the same thing.

Anyone have any feedback on the new Pokemon title? I've always enjoyed them, and with the new Wifi support, it will probably have alot more potential.
I may pick one up before my lady and I go for dinner at the folks place, so any help would be appreciated:tup:

Contact's battle system is way too simple. Getting new items and higher cooking skills and stuff like that is pretty fun, though. The unique interface got me to play it in the first place but it wears thin once you realize it's a mediocre RPG. Still...there are some fun parts to it, just not worth investing much time...

Ok quiche, I'm gonna have to do something about the menu cos I can't read any of it for shit lol.

As far as I can tell, no english mode.

Endless / Time Attack / Puzzle Mode and a few others that I haven't checked out yet.

I like the stylus better. I don't know if you can fix the layout but.. if you're right handed, the R button is the rise button which is kinda awkward. Much easier to push the screen for it instead.

it's way better than heroes of mana, the control is really smooth and the difficulty isn't as stupidly high. wait til you get the airship. looks like it'll be a good game. was a bit worried since famitsu gave it 9, 8, 7, 7. when a flagship title from square gets that kind of score you know famitsu wanted to give it lower but couldn't.

Anybody here playing/played FFF: Chocobo Tales? I decided to pick it up, and I was pleasantly surprised. It's just a bunch of mini-games/micro-games. Most are easy to play, but extremely hard to get a real high score (or even the necessary "Gold" score). Plus, it has a card game that can be played online via Wi-Fi. And, while the card game isn't the most in-depth game, it is fun.

Is anyone else excited about Touch the Dead (http://www.gamespot.com/ds/action/touchthedead/index.html?q=touch%20the%20dead&tag=result;title;0)?

Edit: WAS excited. The new gameplay movies leave me feeling pretty disappointed... The graphics are so stiff. Enemy movement is extremely repetitive and UN-fluid. It appears very unchallenging. That's a shame.

Think there's any hope for this title?

SNK vs. Capcom Card Fighters DS dropped today after its delay on the 25th. It somewhat resembles Card Fighters Clash on the NGPC, but the system is a bit broken and there's more of a sacrificial system in play now.

It seems nice though. The card descriptions are pretty comical even though there are a few typos and mistakes.

the card fighters ds engine is NOT broken. rush decks can be dealt with, you just need to build a proper counter deck for it.

however the story mode is broken. once you start a new game + the game will always freeze on floor 9. getting all the cards is looking impossible as it stands now.

Trust me when I say it's well worth the wait and the money. Haven't had a chance to play on Wifi just yet, but I plan on doing so soon.

In my opinion it's the best puzzle game to hit the DS to date.

I just cant get a hang of how to play/be good at Honeycomb Beat. My brain just doesnt work that way, is anyone else having problems or am I just stupid?

Honeycomb Beat is one of those games that takes a while to get used to as it's not your conventional kind of puzzle game. Give it some time and practice, do the Puzzle mode in numerical order (remember, each row actually has a "solve theme") and you should find yourself getting the hang of things in no time.

I can't seem to chain lines, but one liners are easy.

I gotta say, getting a huge chain in Honeycomb Beat is a very satisfying thing, especially when you manage to clear the entire screen in Evolution mode. When I first managed that I swear I practically busted a nut I was so happy.

there's not an enormous amount of difference (i find) between the various level 1's and 2's in each element. it's more important to get a good balance of elements and ranges for all situations. definitely however pick up the level 1 cosmic (?) magic rabbit healer. those things are immensely useful and have saved my ass so many times. once you get to level 3 summons of course it's a different story. i'm almost positive btw that if you do all the missions you can get everyone on the board.

dude btw i'm at 70% in the game and today i looked at the mission list and for some reason there's a huge gap in completed missions from around # 40-60 ??? random. wonder if i missed something big. but according to a gamefaqs poster there's nothing in this game that you can't go back and get later (like ff12's fucking ridonculous spear).

i think it's funny that so many people complained about summons being nerfed in ff12, and now we have a whole game structured around them.
