About the cleaning...I have a screen protector on mine, so it's probably a different story...if i use like a paper towel it will leave some shit behind because of the material the protector is made of i guess?

Anyways...i bought this hori screen protector, which is licensed by nintendo, and it came with a cloth to clean your ds with before you put the protector on. It was some lint free cloth , but if anything, that's probably my best to be using, lint free cloth.

-not many "likable" games

the DS hands down right now is rocking and will continue for at least the next 6 months with the games everyone wants.

i'm glad that the psp is getting some decent/good titles just recently. the line up for the psp for this year is pretty good but i dont see it dominating the ds. also the price point is just a major difference for many people.

Yeah, I have owned three ds's now. One launch ds for a short while because it had a dead pixel cluster on the top screen, the second was another silver one, I had that for quite a while actually. The front cover was also scractched as fuck, and I was playing it kinda drunk (lame I know) and someone (also drunk) smacked my arm and I dropped it on cement. It still worked fine but the folding arm on the right broke and it was all floppy and flimsy so I sold it to a friend.

And now I have my Red Mario Kart DS and its already outdated. I cant let it go though, its a collectors item. The DS lite I would probably be to scared to carry in my pocket without a carrying case, but I carry my red one in a sock in my backpacks pouch.

i have to say that resident evil on the DS is too good. if your a fan of the origional, the cust scenes are there and with thier vocals... lol

the new ds mode is cool. the slashing caught me off guard but the game is well worth it if your a fan of the series.

Alright, I'm gonna go out and buy a ds lite from lik-sang probably when they get them. What do I need to play stuff on wi-fi? I have a wireless connection and router in my room already. I assume I'll be able to use a japanese system in america with no problems I hope?

my friend imported a (old model) graphite black one from Japan. he has not had any issues.

not sure about his, but with mine, i have no issues hopping on my wirless router and playing... make sure you have your wep key but aside from that... you should be good.

"Foodstuffs" on hard is getting annoying though. I keep throwing her into the birds and it's making me angry. I'm about to use the skip button to skip this level, but I can only use the button one time and I know some of the up coming levels are going to be even harder though (the "Crab" or "Fire" level).

Shit they all seem cool. I'm happy they went with unique characters instead of just skins with a variety of weapons. Now people can really develop their own style... the sniper guy is pretty bad ass.

And I'm even more shocked that the single player mode should be over in about the same time that Prime was.

Sadly there is no news of an American release. :sad: And RPGs fucking suck to import if you don't know Japanese. Something like a fighting game isn't too bad if you don't know Japanese, there's usually guides on unlocking stuff. But you have to have the guide glued on to you at all times if you wanna play an import RPG.

Anyway, next month, we're getting Tales of Phantasia for the GBA (finally!!!!!) so that should be something to look forward to. It's not exactly DS, but its DS related since it plays on your DS :)

I'll have to buy the new DS lite for all these games including the upcoming FFIII, and maybe Xenosaga 1+2 just for the heck of it.

I always thought that FFIII was reason enough to own a DS (which was why I originally got one) but half a year passed and no news, so I got rid of it. Now that its coming out (and actually has pictures) I'm very much inclined to get one.

No, they feel that size 12 mudhole DS is currently stomping in PSP in Japan. :rofl:

Square's a Japanese company, so naturally they (along with most other 3rd parties) are going with what's dominant over there, just like how most folks choose PS2 as far as consoles go. And a lot of these newer games are actually using the DS' features (touch screen, WiFi for global play, even the microphone) for something other than a touch screen map, so PSP physically cannot recreate the experience some of the games are going for.

I for one, am all for Mana on DS. Putting a mainstream Mana game on anyone else's consoles feels odd (even though the newest one is going to PS2), kinda like if a Wild ARMs was on Xbox 360.

The PSP is getting a remake of Valkryie Profile, if that helps.

But the PSP actually gets a decent amount of love from developers, sure they get remakes and ports, but they are GOOD remakes and ports, with additional content.

Right now, developers are probably just playing it safe with the PSP, since while it isn't dominating like its console counterpart, it is putting up a good fight. And I think the DS and PSP are neck and neck here in the US, with the PSP having the slight lead.

Who is else is shocked that this game looks as good as it does?

And I'm even more shocked that the single player mode should be over in about the same time that Prime was.

I have to say I definately am as well. But a lot of the DS's future games have come as a shocker to me, including Tenchu and a 3D Tales of Tempest.

Granted they aren't really anything special and the PSP can do more, but from a system that most folks assured me was a watered down N64 the system is definately loaded with potential games.

I can even imagine what games will be like once more developers start sitting down with the system to use its power, instead of just porting GBA stuff with a few additions and graphical tweaks.

I am all for the remakes and ports and such but damn they're still in Japan and it'll take a year for them to come out here. So whats the point in owning a PSP if I can't play any of those games in english. I'd still end up only using it as a portable media device anyways.

Well whatever the case, this year its all about the DS for me, so I'll run out to get a Lite when it comes out and maybe sell my micro since the Lite is obviously better in running GBA games.

Looking at the release list, all I want really are New Super Mario and Metroid Prime, and possible Pokemon Trozei, just cause its new gen Pokemon.

Well here's the odd thing, the system itself is selling like hotcakes, from what I've seen, its still outselling the DS, but what the DS is owning PSP right now, are the games. DS just simply has the games while PSP is being used as a cheap portable multimedia device.

Hardest game on the DS (that I've played) easily goes to Trauma Center. I finally beat it tonight, and I'm not even touching the X missions. Don't play this game if you value your sanity :tdown:

Co-sign. I swear I tryed to beat the final boss operation at least 50 times before I actually beat it. Shit, people say stuff is hard and I don't even usually find it hard. But this, this is different, WAY different. You finally get done with one problem then some shit starts piling up and it gets impossible and you're like breaking your touch screen trying to do it before the patient dies. Fun game, though.

I've been playing Osu and phoenix wright the past few days. Osu is very very addicting and it's real hard for me to get into a game so easily these days. phoenix wright is also good but it's one of those games i have to be in the mood that day.

if anyone likes simple casino games (i love em cuz they're great for class) i highly recommend Sega Casino. it has a butt load of casino games and they're all interactive with the touch screen. they're simple but just plain fun. and also i'm pretty sure it's only 19.99 now.

i found out that nintendo will still be making the current ds models along side with the new ds lite. i feel real bad for the people that are spending 170+ on the new ds right now.

i bought my ds at fry's electronics recently for 129 it came with free bomberman and free mario 64 ds. i resold those two games. i got my ds new for 85 bux. the new ds is double that price. i just wanted to mention that just to give people more thoughts before blowing their money.

:wow: I was so ready to hate on this game, but then I saw the videos that have been floating back and forth. What the hell did Nintendo do to this game since the original demo that came with the DS? It's like a completely diffrent game. I may have to wait a few weeks on Oblivion and get this on day one. We got to get an SRK league together. I think that the control is the most intriguing part. I hated the controls on the 1st demo, but from the looks of things, that will no longer be an issue

Played the new MP:H demo at a Circuit City today.

Controls are actually better somehow. It feels a lot smoother than before. I Having look sensitivity is great. It was on 7 so that's what I used and it felt fine. Going in and out of scan mode is so easy. You hold down the scan button at the bottom of the screen until the two bars fill. Takes like 2 secs. Weapons are at the top as you've seen in screen shots. So the bottom screen is in a better placement.

Drop the "ammo" for the arm cannon so now you have a semi-auto shot. Holding shoot lets you charge the weapon.

Scanning is pretty cool and keeps you out of the SHOOT EVERYTHING frame of mind.

Pausing the game brings up a map on the top screen and in conjunction with the stylus and buttons you can zoom and rotate. Works quite naturally, more so than with an analog stick.

It was timed demo also.

No multiplayer.

So for all the people who didn't like the Metroid Prime: First Hunt demo, go to a store with a DS on display and try it again.

hmm, the only reason I would want ds lite is cuz of how close you can 'aim' with the wrist strap stub for metroid. It's sexier, yeah, but I think the brightness on my og ds is still good enough.

I also hope better button aim customization for metroid!

I bought a passme for cheap and I love it - can finally play the crazy import games that I can't get over here. Going to try the scumm vm money island after I beat phoenix wright ;D

I tried playing Band Brothers. The japanese text really threw me off and I didn't really know what I was doing, so I kinda gave up after 10 minutes trying to figure what to do. I heard mostly good reviews as well. I'm thinking it plays more like of a Electroplankton music game than Osu.

When they come out with a red DSLite I'm defintely getting one, or at least when they make some crazy skins from decalgirl

Now i'm just waiting for nintendo to ship the 2nd batch. thx for the link forgenjuro, the gba cart sticking out was a major factor that i had to overlook. Weird thought but i was thinking that the gba cart sticking out isn't so bad for gba cart but its realllllllly wacked out looking when you have a big flash cartridge in there. its mostly a hardware issue but perhaps nintendo did that to sway off flashcart users? then again some people have those awkward passme devices hanging out of their ds card slot. goddamn, being without a ds is tough.

DS Download Play for now can let you download demos/multiplayer versions of certain games from special kiosks(in japan only for now) and from other people with a ds. basically for the latter to happen they need to host a "DS Download Game" wifi connection in the immediate area.

of course you can try this other method, requires downloading a drvier or two and you can make your pc into virtual ds hosting downloadable demos, there was topics about this stuff on gamefaqs but i'm not sure if the topics are still up there...

Okay, so I sold my Naruto 3 DS and Naruto 3 GC on eBay, so I have a little more money to spend. I think I'm going to go ahead and get Bleach. I was going to get Ouendan, but as cool as it is, I think music/rhythm games wear out (at least for me) after a while. Is there anyone here who isn't really into DDR type games that loves this game as much as everyone else? I would get both, but with Tetris DS and Metroid Prime Hunters coming out next week, that's too many DS games and too much money :-(. Am I making the right decision with Bleach?

I'm still selling my Phoenix Wright on eBay if anyone cares.

I just picked up Metroid Prime Pinball for $16 at Best Buy (used the coupon on the back of the Gaming Gift Card for $5 off). It's on sale for $19.99 now so go run and pick up it up. Cool thing is that you'll still get the (weak but cute) rumble pack that works with Metroid Prime Hunters and Princess Peach.

It's a really fun game regardless and isn't retardedly challenging with tons of targets and crap that takes the ball all over the universe before falling back to the table. The mini-games are all Metroid centric and and don't give off that hokey vibe. There's also bosses and times when you'll stand up and shoot up crap with the power beam and missles if you have them. You can also use bombs anytime you are in the morphball, that's if you have some (they recharge). Tons of fun so everyone go clear Best Buy out.

Ouendan isnt that hard it's just memorization.

The only stages I'd say will take you longer then a few tries to beat are Ready steady go on hard and a few of the songs on extreme that actually got changed and aren't just notes in reverse.

The two player mode is pretty good also.

They are usually around the front by the checkouts. If not there look near the games. If you don't see any then that's ok because some stores, like the one closest to me, doesn't have any in stock but another store a little further away does. The experiation date on the coupon is like sometime in 07 so keep on buying them to get your $5 off discount.

Simply put, I love it.

The Adventure mode started off very linear and boring but once I beat the first two stages the game took a more dramatic turn (like a certain three way hunter battle). And then I died and got my oca-whatever it's called, stolen and omg I'm like wtf do I do now?! So it's actually quite exciting. I love that morph ball puzzles have a their own special 2D camera but it doesn't feel out of place either. Well done. And choosing planets to go to is pretty neat. Ya know, instead of just selecting the planet you have to pin point it on your map. And reviews say this will take 12 hours, wow. It doesn't seem that way but there are many areas that I've passed up so far, so who knows!

The Mulitplayer mode is wi-fi crack. Random matches are decent, luckily the rival option keeps it from being completely random and gives a better sense of community than Mario Kart. While it sucks that you can't talk to non-friends, being able to play and talk to friends kicks ass. And it sounds really good too! Nodes is my new favorite mode. It's so intense. You have to constantly watch your crap while not dying at the same time. Speaking of gameplay! From all the hunters I've played the game as, it is quite balanced. Weavel is my favorite atm with Kanden and Noxus (i think that's his name) not too far behind. I love how Weavel has to split his health in half to use the turrent but he's quite vunerable this way and has to sacrifice a lot for a kill if you go about it this way. And I love Kanden's little homing stinger bomb attack. People are always getting tripped up by this since in close range. And Noxus' blade has a long start up but seems to be so powerful! Of course to put me on my toes you should move up and away from me since Kanden and Noxus in their alt-forms can't jump.

Move over Samus, thar be new hunters in town!

Glad to hear it so far. Myself and a few others were asked about balance issues, and we gave a lot of comments about what we thought needed changing. I really think it came out well. I think each hunter has situations where they are really good compared to the others. I've been reading a lot of the other forums that post (Gamefaqs, IGN... lame, I know, but a lot of people post there) and it seems like everyone is saying "OMG -insert character- is TOO GOOD!" which, to me at least, is a good sign.

EDIT: Forgot to add. Yeah, you're hands are going to cramp a bit for awhile. You'll find a hand position that works for you though. I tend to support the DS with my left pinkie finger, hold the stylus in the right but keep my right pinkie finger on the R Button (Teacup style, only the pinkie sticking out, other fingers on the stylus).

I've only played in three Wifi matches (I haven't added friends yet, so no friends battle), I must say it's pretty fun, I admit, I never expected Nintendo to set up some elaborate online scheme, so it doesn't bother me that I can't choose opponents just looking for a random person to play. I don't like the maps I can fall of off. the few characters that I have (3rd from the left) is my favorite.

Adventure mode is pretty cool, although I do enjoy morph ball puzzles, the one on the ice planet Arcterra, really pissed me off because of the weird angles and shit I kept falling off and bomb jumping is hardly reliable.

I haven't, played much of the game but I'm really liking it.

(BTW my pinkies can now bench 400 lbs.)

Yeah it was until I figured out that you want to aim higher and ahead of the person. And don't waste the charged shot but wait for the most opportune moment to strike. Cause when you do, it hurts so bad. Another great thing about Spire is his abilty to be impervious to lava. So if you know you are playing that Alinos landing area arena, it's in your best interest to use Spire and take control of the "sniping" area. I've yet to meet someone so good with the Imperialist that they can't be snuck up on or come at full force since being zoomed in has it's blind spots.

I'm still a firm believer that there are ways around every hunters special skill... (and I hate giving this info away!)

Spire: Stay away from him in tight places.
Sylux: Keep your distance and remember that he's getting all his
health back in like 4 secs tops. Still haven't found a way to beat that in close quarters or in general. This may be the one TRULY broken part of the game.
Trace: Ok all he can do is turn invisible while standing still with the Imperialist. C'mon, if you can't see where that big ass red laser is coming from...
Samus: Lol! No seriously though, don't give her a clear shot with her homing missiles and watch her crazy morph ball action.
Weavel: People think his turrent is so broken and it's not. First of all the most dangerous thing is the half-turrent and not weavel's jumping shenanigans. If you keep circle strafing the turrent it can't keep up with you.
Noxus: Just don't get close when he has the freeze gun and his alt-form spinning blade attack is ferocious so get the hell away.
Kanden:People don't seem to play as Kanden much. I do, and I win. So I really don't know how to beat Kanden. I guess what you would do to win is don't underestimate those tracking bombs and that homing charged shot from the "yellow" gun leaves you vunerable.

Hope to see you fools online. I'm usually up late (after 12) playing with people from CAG.

That is one helluva a smart way to use the stylus.

And Point Blank on the DS? That makes way too much sense. Maybe we could have other "light-gun" games on the DS. And not just some silly ports either. Like imagine Time Crisis on the DS. Top screen shows what your partner is facing and the bottom screen is your screen to tap shoot on (and with the d-pad or face buttons or shoulders as reload). The first time you play through, it stops at 200 lines (well I got 202 cuz of a triple). I don't know what the score was. After that, the credits roll, but you unlock an option to play Endless mode so it doesn't stop. It's pretty fast, but you have to make use of the infinite rotation. Just keep an eye on what's coming and keep rotating until you get it in the right place.

Zelda looks fucking awesome. And yeah, I believe I read that they said it will be released this year.

Earlier, I think it was Miyamoto that said that Twilight Princess would have some special features when you play it on the Revolution. Now I wonder if there might be some sort of link connection between that and Phantom Hourglass if there's a Rev->DS connection type thing.

Although I think the gun for Weavel's gun is lame. And the idea of it exploding to do more damage for him is lame too. They should have done this...

After charging up the gun, Weavel shoots out a rapid fire stream of arcing exploding shots for a brief period of time.

So 9TNine, what is it about this weapon that's so special? Because magmaul is so much cooler and works similar to it as well.

After some messing around, I'm starting to like Kanden's style. The stinglarva is very mobile for some reason.

I just saw some guy racing around the stage with Sylux collecting all the health he could. Seems his speed in ball mode lets him get even more health then the Shock Coil. :|

Weee, another Kanden player. That's because he doesn't have an intertia to his movement. He stops on command. No sliding.

Yeah Sylux is just fast in his alt-form although his attack is tricky to use. He, Trace, and Weavel all control the same in their alt-forms. Not a big fan but whatever.

Ehh... I disagree. Spire had that before a lot of stuff got added. It also makes no sense that he can walk through lava but burn from magmaul shots, which I suppose can be ignored since it wouldn't really be fair if he couldn't be burned.

The Battlehammer was designed to be a semi-auto weapon basically. The radius it has in bibed form for Weavel is much much larger than anyone else, and packs quite a punch. The half turret doesn't use the affinity version of it. Not really a Weavel player so I don't really have much advice for you on it. I like Weavel but he's tricky to use (which I also like).

Sounds like you guys are digging the game, and think it's pretty balanced?

My high score for normal standard mode (which stops after level 20), is 343784. I believe it was 202 lines since I ended with a triple.

After you beat that, you unlock endless mode, which goes on forever. So far my high score is 678234. I think I was at level 36 or so.

I've since beat that score, my high score now is 308704. But what I don't get is, what's the point of the level still going up? I really can't imagine anything being faster than level 20. I really can't even tell a difference between 17 and 20.

Uh...if that's what he's referring to, there is no way they are going to 'fix' that. They are already manufacturing these things as quickly as they can and they can't keep up with demand. The disign for the DS Lite is pretty much set in stone. The only changes you can expect are colors.

I haven't played online in a while, but I can tell you this much: Alt forms are annoying. Some people rely on them too much, and some people are just straight cheap with them. The game is fun, but can get frustrating depending on who you're up against.

I'm so tired of having errors pop up. It looks like I suck now because my rank is so low. Friend matches are the way to go. I've only had errors setting up friend or rival matches a few times, compared to 70% of the time errors with random matches. Makes me want to punch a neon mutant baby, grah!

I went to my local Game Crazy and the download station was up. I downloaded Brain Training and found that it was better than I expected. Although it's voice recognition annoyed me a few times, still fun. I wouldn't buy the game since Nintendo doesn't have a way of updating the games on there. They can only make new versions for you to buy. Lame.

Go to the DS section.

Turn on your DS.

Go to Download play.

Download demos. Especially Brain Age. Its awesome and I can't wait til it comes out next week.

If it doesn't work, tell an employee, it might just be off. All Best Buy's should have them now.
