Survival Training = the bell test. With Naruto and Sakura showing off their growth to Kakashi at the beginning of Part 2/Shippuden. After hours of fighting, Naruto and Sakura are hiding and taking a break, talking about how difficult of an opponent Kakashi is. Sakura says how incredible the Sharingan is, and how fast Kakashi's handseal speed is, then Naruto...

I thought that this was one of the "add-on" scenes in the anime, though. I could sworn that "add-on" nature was by you yourself, but it's not like I haven't been incorrect before.

Regardless, pfft. Fuck that. Intellect is one of the few things that Shikamaru, pretty much the most popular character that doesn't have any thing to do with either of the two main groups, has going for him. Kakashi is smart, but I highly doubt he's a super genius, which Naruto, who idolizes Kakashi and just likes Shikamaru, doesn't know.

So, no. Kakashi is smart, but he's not (or hasn't been showing) that he's a super genius.

Having ability and talents in other areas so evenly, whereas Shikamaru suffers from very low chakra reserves, is what makes him "better" than Shikamaru, but I refuse to believe he's flat out smarter than Nara. (As fanfictiony as that sounds.)

The series simply has no intriguing plots or real character development at this point, and it is starting to wear very thin. I recall when I actually liked Naruto as a character, and he progressively got better as the series moved on. I recall when multiple characters received development and detail alongside the main four. I recall when the villains were actually capable of providing an interesting and difficult fight for the heroes, and it required real teamwork and tactics to win against them.

Now, Naruto, despite receiving training from "OMG greatest Shinobi ever" x3, is still essentially the same character with the same skills as those he possessed when Sasuke defeated him. The broad and interesting secondary cast that once really brought breadth and depth to the world, adding to the development of the main characters, may as well not exist, save for occassional cameos.

The villains, who were supposedly the most elite, most amazing, badass gods of shinobi everywhere, job out like bitches left and right to the most simplistic attack patterns and DBZ power up mega blasts. It's sickening, especially since the character designs for most of the villains has been excellent, and to see them completely wasted so quickly is tiring, to say the least.

I'll probably drop reading this series for a while and pick it back up again in a few months, to see if it has improved at all, but I seriously doubt it shall.

I liked the chapter as Naruto constantly keeps my interest. I disappointed that we didn't get the chance to see what Itachi wanting to tell Naruto. Pein really is the man as he not only occupies the Akatsuki, but he's the main symbol in a big war within his village. Jiraiya's plan to go in the Rain Village by himself is a little too risky imo, despite him being a Sannin (he should take someone with him).

But all of those characters, (aside from Oro) actually did something.
Kakashi dodged Itachi's bushin, Kurenai got off some kind of attack that was countered, and Sasuke rushed in with his Chidori. Oro, I guess is on Naruto's level-- but Oro was at least going after the real Itachi.

Naruto lost not only to a bushin twice (who the hell loses to those?!), but he lost to the same thing both times. Even if he did break out of it once (I thought it was Chiyo/Sakura that did it?) it wasn't even broken mango sharingan-- it was just some random finger genjutsu.

Naruto broke the laws of shonen manga. You are supposed to lose to something once, then lose to either a more powerful technique, or the "true form" of the move on your second encounter.

But all of those characters, (aside from Oro) actually did something.
Kakashi dodged Itachi's bushin, Kurenai got off some kind of attack that was countered, and Sasuke rushed in with his Chidori. Oro, I guess is on Naruto's level-- but Oro was at least going after the real Itachi.

Naruto lost not only to a bushin twice (who the hell loses to those?!), but he lost to the same thing both times. Even if he did break out of it once (I thought it was Chiyo/Sakura that did it?) it wasn't even broken mango sharingan-- it was just some random finger genjutsu.

Naruto broke the laws of shonen manga. You are supposed to lose to something once, then lose to either a more powerful technique, or the "true form" of the move on your second encounter.

just wanted to point out that it wasn't a standard bushin....no puff of smoke once it gets touched by something...

To be fair, that Tengu stuff is actually based on some other japanese lore that the Narutoverse borrows heavily upon. It's actually quite a good read and I wouldn't be surprised if we see some sort of story behind the Sharingan if it's ever explained.. more than likely however, we'll never get the backstory on it.

I've been searching around a bit.. Apparently there is a debate over wether the last page of the current manga (chapter 366) and the shadow behind Itachi. Some people believe it's his shadow.. other people think its something else.. It's a little odd shaped and you can almost make out a single eye in the shadow... Seems weird.

Also, there's speculation that Itachi is Jiraiya's informant. How is Jiraiya getting all his info? And notice that when Kisame wanted to fight with Jiraiya, it was Itachi that stopped it claiming it was 'too dangerous' or something to that effect. Also, when Itachi could have easily killed Kakashi when he caught him with the MS, he let him go. Now he finds Naruto who is supposed to be his 'main objective', and he let's him go.... You wonder if maybe Itachi and Jiraiya have been working together this whole time.. and that when Sasuke witnessed Itachi killing his family, it was really Itachi using MS on him in order to protect Sasuke.... (So he wouldn't go after the real killer ... Maybe AL ? In order to force Itachi to fight with them ?)

Too much speculation... but just for kicks, I think the Itachi vs Sasuke fight won't happen here.. It's either BH or AL acting like Itachi, or it's another Itachi clone. ya know i find it interesting how the hyuuga clan don't treat sasuke as more of a cousin. Since their bloodlines canon wise were linked at some point in history and then the houses split off. I mean if sasuke were to figure out how to use Byakugan that would be some uber broken status.

I did a little searching on my own and unfortunately, I didn't see a site that separates filler from non-filler. if it's of any help, eps 1-90 are non-filler. Apparently, I've somehow lost eps 91 through 104 and I don't remember enough about them to know if they are filler or not. ep 105 is part of the run idate run arc, and is filler. Hope this helps.

And that's the wonderful thing about manga. Even if you are fluent in Japanese, manga uses language that isn't quite your everyday dialect. Japanese is already vague enough by itself.

My stance on the issue stands. Tobi probably is Uchiha Madara, but I would not say that with 100% certainty, as the line is not by any means definitive.

I mean i haven't watched DBZ since I was 15 so I'm probably hazy. And I'm just going by the anime of naruto I've watched thus far. But for me, the biggest factors are:

strong sidekick to quiet, cocky bad dude who is one of the sole surviving members of his race/clan, this bad dude also finally being defeated by one of the only other surviving members of his race/clan. sidekick relies on physicality (sword), is tall and strong, tends towards aggression

Anyhow, basically what the character is saying is that once Akatsuki achieves its objective, Sharingan shall regain its original, ostensibly more powerful form, and thus, so will he, Uchiha Madara. In other words, among the things which will regain their original form are the Sharingan's true power and his own. 全てが本来の形に戻るのだ。, where 全て＝写輪眼の本当の力やうちはマダラの力など。As for whether or not the character speaking is Uchiha Madara, as to this, there is no doubt. This part, このうちはマダラの力, has been construed by some to mean "this power, the power of Uchiha Madara." They're reading it like this: この　うちはマダラの力。The way they should be reading it is like this: このうちはマダラの　力。When この precedes the name of a person (in this case, Uchiha Madara), the person referenced is the speaker himself. It's a way for the speaker to indicate that he or she is a real big deal (in his or her mind, anyway). And no, it's not a "vague" sentence, or one which could be read both ways: the way we're indicating here is the only way to interpret the sentence, at least as far as whether the speaker is Uchiha Madara or not. Whether Madara is possessing someone else's body or if Tobi's just a robot through which his voice comes out,is another matter altogether.
