Wouldn't it be cool if somehow Kakashi got his sharingan eye from Uchiha Madara? I mean Tobi only shows one eye and the one thats under the mask is the same one that Kakashi covers.

Kakashi or someone else in his place, ransacks the grave of the supposedly deceased/assumed dead Madara as a result of all the sharingan users being dead or gone during the 4th's battle with the 9tails. Konoha needed a technique that would help Minato subdue the 9tails and that technique was the sharingan eye of the deceased Uchiha Madara. An eye the 9tails knows all to well.

As a final attack on Konoha the late Madara summons the 9tailed fox. A summon that ends his life. Being the only one that can summon the beast madara and the 9tails lock eyes as the 9tails kills him and proceeds to destroy konoha. This could also be the first and last time the 9tails sees the eyes of a sharingan user and why he confuses Sasuke's eyes with that of Madara's (the one who summoned him).

Kakashi after nominating himself to take on the surgery has to wait to heal and the destruction wages on for weeks or months. After massive losses Anbu Kakashi is summoned my Minato to the front lines. The 9tails sees the sharingan eye of kakashi and is shot back at how Madara survived his attack. This brief pause allows Minato enough time to start the sealing technique that would put the nine 9tails away.

THis chapter also made clear that tobi=obito=madara. He's probably suffering from some personalitie's disorder for having his body fused/mixed or whatever by Madara, something like when Boo absorves one of the Supreme Kaios and is not so bad anymore, this would explain Madara/Tobi goofy act's sometimes...

I kind of want to agree with you on the sharingan counter based on the track record of the manga, but something is telling me that THIS time the Kyuubi smash will actually succed in putting the peace out on Sasuke. maybe not an outright kill, but I just feel like this time Naruto will win the fight. I just wonder if sasuke will come back, add naruto to the eneby list, or the book will end at that point? We've probably got another 2-4 years before that question will be answered though, so it's buckle up for the long ride.

Well, so far the theory has been true somewhat as the two statues are Madara and Shodaime and of the actual Uchiha (paper fan) existing. If most of the theory is proven true, then it could mean extreme danger for anyone (besides Naruto) that goes up against any of the Uchihas, especially Tobi/Madara.

So, I think it may have been discussed before, but I think that Kishi already has a sharingan counter in place in the series. Taijutsu.

Was going to bed last night and the Rock Lee vs Gaara fight was on, waiting for Futurama to play. Started thinking about Gai's whole "Taijutsu" specialization speech, and realized that Gai/Rock are going to be natural counters to Itachi/Madara/Sharingan User #201.

If you think about it, a Sharingan allows the user to copy and understand and taijutsu, genjutsu, or ninjutsu used in their presence. Of the 3, it's implied that the user cannot simply "look and copy" taijutsu without having the proper body conditioning to pull off the technique. This alone gives it the edge over a pure sharingan user, if that user has reached near human limits of body conditioning.

Could Itachi catch Rock Lee sans weights in his genjutsu? If you're fast enough, can you avoid the whole "point and pwn" technique? What about 5th gate mode? Hell, can somebody opening up the final gate even be touched by genjutsu or are they immune, since they're reaching the ULTIMATE potential of their body? I seriously think that we will see Rock/Gai taking on a major sharingan user at some point.

So far in the series, we've been shown Rock beat Sasuske pre chuunin exams and Gai stand up to Itachi and fight using the reflection to avoid the sharingan. Foreshadowing of fights to come? I think so. But only time will tell.

taijutsu beats sharingan

wasn't this mentioned earlier in this thread? i this was discussed. anyways, i believe you're (relatively) right - taijutsu would stand a chance moreso than any other jutsu. but that still doesn't make the fight easy, just easier. the sharingan is apparently too broken. just reading on this thread can show that.

itachi wears black nail polish - you can't just avoid his eyes anymore but any limb of his that reflects.

opening gates can be copied - although not blatantly said, sasuke did do rock lee's special kick (second lotus?) in the chuunin exam by watching, and being on the receiving end, of it. kakashi did it too when scaling that mountain, but then again he's a genius even before the sharingan and has known gai for a looooong time.

and sasuke has shown to be QUICK - at the final part of the chuunin, with only that small window of time to train at that, he showed to be as quick as rock lee without the weights. that's damn impressive and just straight up speed wouldn't cut it alone. well, unless you're the flash.

by the way, i still don't like the sharingan. i'm waiting to see the counter but just want it to be legit and not like an "um, ok. i guess that can work" type of thing. i'd rather have an "OH SHIT! that's crazy! why couldn't i figure that out???"

Sasuke's Shishi Rendan

Sasuke copied Lee's Kage Buyou before the Chuunin Exams, which is a part of the Omote Renge. The Initial Gate is used for that entire Taijutsu combination. The Shishi Rendan was his own original finish for that combination that he devised on the spot.

Keep in mind that at this point in the story, we didn't even know about the Gates, only the drawbacks from using the Omote Renge. Sasuke suffered similar side-effects from using that Taijutsu combination, and his Cursed Seal reacted very violently in the middle of the Kage Buyou. His Cursed Seal reacted to any chakra he kneaded at that point. Even when he used the last of his chakra for his Sharingan in the Forest of Death, the Cursed Seal did not react in such a manner. Releasing the Initial Gate would explain that quite nicely, don't you think?

And remember what Gai said after Sasuke won his Preliminary Match?

"Mastering even part of the super Taijutsu technique, "Lotus", is impossible without grueling training... Even with the Sharingan, it's not something that can be perfected that quickly... And the creativity of that finishing move..."

What about the Kage Buyou, the part of the Omote Renge which Sasuke copied, makes it impossible without such difficult training? The Initial Gate would be the obvious answer.

And Kakashi didn't have any problem with Gai teaching him to release the Initial Gate for the Kage Buyou/Omote Renge. It was the Ura Renge, which uses at least 3 Gates, and puts the user at extreme risk, that got him upset.

The Sharingan can also observe the flow and kneading of chakra within the body, this has been established since the Kakashi Gaiden, when Obito observed his, and Rin's chakra flow after he acquired his Sharingan. Kishimoto has yet to make it entirely clear why Jyuuken Taijutsu can only be used with the Byakugan, and not the Sharingan. Though I've suggested (http://forums.narutofan.com/showthread.php?t=93305) that the Byakugan's ability to clearly make out the tenketsu with it's telescopic vision(which the Sharingan apparently cannot do) makes the difference.

So, I think it may have been discussed before, but I think that Kishi already has a sharingan counter in place in the series. Taijutsu.
Taijutsu is no more effective against the Sharingan than Ninjutsu and Genjutsu. It can follow high-speed body movement, anticipate it, predict it, record the movements. It depends on the user's physical capacity whether or not the Taijutsu can be dealt with.

In Sasuke's case, when he fought Lee, he was very much inferior to Lee in that regard. His body couldn't react to Lee's movements even if he could read them with the Sharingan.

Thank you Saist you make some good points, I've gone back to check it all out now indeed the stresses induced on Sasuke can be explained as him opening a gate unknowingly perhaps, although I hope not as it certainly demeans the ability of the gates. Or of course just again overpowers that damn Sharingan.

I believe what Gai was commenting on is simply the strain on the body to perform such a combo it is fairly grewling and Lee mentions how long it took him to learn to move like that and Sasuke managed it in a month.

I have to say though that I still don't believe he really used the gates, simply because I think they would have had him do something like say "Kai" or some such, although it could be argued either way and I'm pretty sure we'll never get a definitive answer as I can't see Kishi ever making Sasuke use the Shishi Renden.

As for the Sharingan observing the flow and kneading of chakra I hadn't thought of the comments in Gaiden. Personally I think Kishi may have overpowered the Sharingan just a tad, theoretically it could easily cause a winner in a fight simply because of a bloodline which I hate -.-

Back on subject, basically what it all comes down to is the initial confrontation between Sasuke and Lee, and whether or not Kage Buyou requires the initial gate open or not, since that's all Sasuke first saw. The lotus in both it's forms it can be explained for, the amazing speed etc but I don't really see why it would be needed to perfrom the dance. But again it's all theory and we'll never know. It's not the point on whether it CAN copy opening a gate or not, it's whether it did.

It will be interesting to see if Kishi does elaborate on the exact workings of the gates and what exactly goes into training to "open" them, it seems stupid NOT to learn it considering it's potential, yeah it has side effects, but as Deidara has shown when you know you're going out it's nice to have a trump card to take the other guy with you.

I have a question about Sasuke's sharingan when he fought Naruto at the Valley of the End. After Naruto got his neck broken and went 1 tailed(After image kyubi effect) why couldn't Sasuke's Sharingan predict the motions of that chakara? He states that even with his eyes he cant predict it because it is a special type of chakara(iirc). It seemed to me that if he can predict Naruto's attacks and make him whiff, that he should be able to predict where the second attack from the kyubi would land. Could he only dodge one or the other? He could at least see the red chakara, so why was it so hard to predict.

One Gate--one, for use with the Kage Buyou/Shishi Rendan. And as Sasuke pointed out the first time he used the technique, it's not something he can rely on due to it's drawbacks. It's not like the Gates are Kyuubi-esque power-ups, they're temporary upgrades that, so far, have been used for specialized Taijutsu techniques. That's all Lee and Gai have used them for.

Plus, he has the Cursed Seal.

It's not like they reached the tower and started fighting immediately after finishing up with those Grass Nin. They should have had a bit of time to rest up before the Preliminary Matches started. Kabuto was the only one who decided not to continue, and his excuse was due to injuries he sustained earlier, not exhaustion(and he, Sakura, and Sasuke were being worn down by the Grass Nin's Genjutsu games before the fight).

Additionally, releasing the Gates grants access to chakra that the body normally doesn't allow to flow freely.

In the scanslation I have, he only refers to the river's flow never stopping, no connections to a neverending battle.

Where does it state that sasuke copy the opening of a gate? Didn't he just copy lee's movement u can't copy the gate you have to open that the hard way taijutsu son.

Tobi is not Obito. Obito is was NOT an important character at all. He was throwaway character used to give Kakashi some long overdue backstory.

I'm still not 100% sold on sasuke being able to open a gate simply through the sharingan. It could be that Gai said "impossible!" that sasuke could pull off the move without a gate being open. And I always thought that the lotus was considered a double edged sword because you slam yourself into the ground too, not because you open the first gate. But the arguments here are strong for sasuke being able to.

I guess at least it doesnt matter one way or the other : P doubt we're gonna see an epic showdown later, where sasuke busts out 5th gate. Lee or Gai are pretty much already set up to open up the last gate, to die protecting somebody special to them. Lee's perfect for this, he can finally prove his strength and hard work pays off in the end.

Refresh my memory..but wasn't the only time Sasuke ever saw (and copied using the Sharingan) Lee's movements was when they had a match before the Chuunin exams? Sasuke was unconscious when Lee was fighting the Sound ninjas in the forest (the one in the Chuunin exam), and he wasn't present during Lee Vs. Gaara.

I don't remember Lee breaking any gates during that match. Sasuke only copied his normal speed and the beginning parts of one of Lee's moves, which he used to make Shishi Rendan.
