The Ninja captured by Jiraiya withdraws going up
Jiraiya asks a question meanwhile
Jiraiya: "Who's Pain?"
Konan: "That's not of your concerning, teacher."
At Konan's back appears a huge quantity of paper, and there feathers grow on her back like she were an angel
Jiraiya: "So, what are angel's intentions?"
Konan: "I received an order from God. I have to kill you."

Then suddenly a huge quantity of paper rains on Jiraiya. He dodges forward the attack and immediately counterattacks with a toad oil bullet.
Konan takes a direct hit of massive oil and the paper can't be unstuck.
Then Jiraiya stretches his hair like a tail to wreathe Konan.

Jiraiya: "With the oil that adhere to your feathers you'll lose!"
Jiraiya: "Your love for the origami made you a very special person among those kids..."
Konan: "..."
Jiraiya: "Still...Pain...which is of those kids?"
Konan: "What do you plan to do now when he'll appear to us?"
Jiraiya: "Nothing at all. I heard that if you hadn't join Akatsuki you would have died...is it really true?"
Konan: "That time...that time we would do that according to what Orochimaru said...we thought so. However, you saved us. But you're late. We began to move under his ideology."

Flashback
A young filthy lad presents him in front of the Sannin.
Jiraiya: "what do you want, kid?"

Jiraiya: "Where are your parents?"
Kid: "They were killed in this war by the shinobi."
...
Jiraiya: "Look at me. Here's a cracker."
Jiraiya gives the remaining three crackers to that kid.

Suddenly two shy kid's faces appear from behind a tree.

The kids follow the Sannin from the back.
Tsunade: "We gave you food just a few minutes ago. Why are you following us?"
Kid: "Show us your ninja skills...you are Konoha ninjas, aren't you?"
Jiraiya: "!!!"
Konan: "Thank you...this is my gratitude's expression."
The girl kid suddenly transforms the cracker's paper in a rose.

Orochimaru: "What about killing these kids?"
At these words, the kids put themselves squared off.
Orochimaru: "I've seen so much war orphans, but it's an atrocious thing. It would be less atrocious if I kill them right here "

Tsunade: "What?"
Jiraiya: "At least, until they can gain some indipendence...this is the indemnity for all."

Kid (Yahiko): You cooked that fish with a shot of your fire elemental jutsu!"
A huge fish barbecue is on the table.
Nagato: "..."
Yahiko: "Teacher! Remember my fishing skill!"
Nagato starts crying.

Yahiko: "But I understand this is impossible...so war must disappear! I hate the rain...this country is always crying...they're all weaklings. I will change this country...I'll protect everybody! So...Teacher Jiraiya! Teach us the art of ninjutsu!"

Meanwhile he's cooking a fish, Jiraiya remembers what Yahiko said a few days ago.
"In order to understand each other, you must share the same eyes with your companion! So war must disappear! I'll protect everybody!
Then Konan appears at the opening door, screaming
Konan: "Teacher Jiraiya, it's dangerous! Yahiko and Nagato..."
Jiraiya: "Lead me to them, Konan!"

Jiraiya runs where are Yahiko and Nagato, worn out. A man lies on the ground near there.
Konan: "Teacher has come!"
Jiraiya: "What had happened?"
Yahiko: ""We...ninja refugees...wanted...money and food...so...Nagato...that man..."
Jiraiya: "Is this a Iwagakure Chuunin...? How on earth did you...?
Jiraiya is astonished as he sees Nagato's eyes that stare at the ground meanwhile cutting the breath.

Well, Pain may have Yahiko's body which could've been the first body of his that resembled Naruto.

I like this chapter and I like Pain even more know that I know about the hardships that him and the other orphans have been through. Now, I understand why Pain eradicated Hanzou and everyone related to him as it'll end the war like he wanted. With a the titles that Pain holds (god, legend, war hero, etc.), and the fact the he's like Naruto, Orochimaru, Neji and Sasuke makes him even cooler. I just thought about something. Judging from the picture of Jiraiya and Yondaime as a child, Pain and Konan are older than Yondaime (which means Pain & co. were Jiraiya's first students). I'm realizing how Yahiko's personality somewhat favors Naruto's. Wait until Jiraiya finds out that his earliest student (Nagato) was the one who defeated the man that he couldn't defeat.

yeah, this chapter delivered in the oft hated area of flashbacks. Master P was hardcore from the start and proved it. All I wonder is, was that Jiraya's training or his own deadly style that offed the rock nin? Fool shoulda stuck to sucking dick in the background. messed with pein and ended up murked. I'm with the rest that think Konan will end up showing Jiraya how much she's grown as a nin by shaking off his little wet up the paper trick. I think Pain has bodies of his buddies who died, and then Pain goes and kills the people who killed his friends/members for vengeance... He's following Yahiko's dreams of making everyone feel the same pain.

So it's sort of like some spiritual thing where Pain being inside someone else's body is like "BITCH THIS IS WHAT I WENT THROUGH! NOW FEEL THE SAME!"

So I caught up finally this evening, and I'm glad i read it lol, that is going to take seriously like 2 years to get to where the manga is now. One thing I definitely like is how the manga seems to be a bit faster paced in its delivery of information, rather than spending the first 15 fucking minutes having rock lee explain that to beat the clones they need to be stronger than when they first appeared. Granted I love the anime, and if I watch it from a ways back in continuity its far more bearable, but the 1 episode wait a month stuff is kind of ruining it........

We know that it has a history and a name now, but other than that, we still know relatively nothing except for that's it how he transfers himself between body.

If he can suddenly start transfering other people's souls, even if it's just to dead bodies, then damn, he's fucking broken.


That aside, this spoiler at once both interests and disappoints me. Pein (and to much lesser degree, Konan) is shaping up to actually seem interesting.

However, this all still feels extremely rushed. Like Kishimoto was like "Kuso! There are so many plotholes and Naruto is basically his own filler character now! Hayaku! Scene change!" and then decided to give thought to Pein and Konan and their (odd) relation to Jiraiya like two months ago.

It seems especially weird that we've never heard anything about this from Orochimaru, especially considering how hellbent's been on getting the perfect body. Does this mean that he disbelieved the legend...even though Pein seems to have been the leader of the Akatsuki the entire time they've been formed? It seems difficult to imagine that Orochimaru would want the Sharingan, which merely lets you learn jutsu much faster, over Rinnegan, which is basically his body transfer technique perfected, especially since he could keep kekkai genkai bodies on the side that way.


This plothole is vast and deep....

The plothole is caused by the fact that Pein is the leader of the Akatsuki and, given Konan's speech, AFAWK always has been. This means that he was likely the leader when Orochimaru was Akatsuki.

Since Orochimaru sort of remains of one of those forbidden knowledge type of doctors, you would think that he would at least put someone to search for some occult shit like this even if it turned out to be bogus.

I mean, he went around snatching up children without kekkai genkai, so you think that people with actual bloodlines, even if only potential, would have at least interested him to the point where he would have mentioned it earlier, like say, when taunting Sasuke or something.
