^ Seriously. Even if The Dragon is correct with his theory about why Naruto's still so weak after training for so long with Jiraiya, it's contradicted by how powerful he became with like a day or two of that Taijyuu Kage Bushin training.

Had Jiraiya been smart enough to show Naruto that, which apparently wasn't, then none of this would be necessary since Naruto would already be broken by now.

But, no, Jiraiya has to fail yet again.



I don't know what annoys me the most about this chapter:

a) It's abrupt ending without resolving if Jiraiya is actually going to just die or...whatever and without resolving who Pain is.

b) That it was yet another flashback heavy part of the "fight" with "Pain".

c) That any feeling on my end was mostly undermined by the stupid "prophecy" bullshit that came up randomly last month.

d) All of the above.

We're introduced to Jiraya when he's about 50 or so, I'm sure he's kicked enough ass in his lifetime. He must have since almost everyone (except Pain) is afraid or at the least thinking it's a coin flip to fight him and not worth it. I guess when you look at what we know his most impressive moment was going after two Akatsuki members by himself and chasing them off, Itachi alone would be enough to scare people off. Kisame would've been owned hard by Jiraya without Itachi's help. Konan is pathetic lol she got pwned like in a few seconds after a few spits.

As a rule, when evaluating people, we usually leave out stuff that happens in flashbacks unless that character is going to appear again. So while Sasori has destroyed nations and the Fourth was the Second Coming of the Rinnegan, it doesn't "count" because it doesn't really apply by time the manga starts.

With Jiraiya, the closest he came to owning someone was when Itachi and Kisame ran from him...which is highly suspect because, as UnCauzi pointed out like 500 posts ago, Jiraiya acted surprised by Itachi's Amaterasu, which meant that it was likely Itachi could have killed him if he wanted to.

There is a high possibility that Itachi was Jiraiya's Akatsuki informant considering that Jiraiya seemed to know the most about them from his travels...and yet he had never fought any top member of the Akatsuki or been to the Land Hidden in the Rain.

So...that really only leaves him with him being drugged against a crippled Orochimaru, who was still beating the shit out of him and Tsunade (who basically beat Orochimaru by herself), and this current loss/death against Pain.

Yeah.... That's not very successful, especially when you remember now that Pain is his fault and that Jiraiya got his legendary title from a loss.

I like(d) Jiraiya, but Kishimoto made him an utter failure as pretty much everything but fodder for Naruto, Kakashi, and Pain.

...True, but Sarutobi was never built to be OMG UBER HAX like Jiraiya (and the other sannin... and the Akatsuki...and Madara...) were outside of being the Hokage who took back over when the Fourth sacrificed himself.

And then he still performed and won that battled even though he died because he effectively took almost all of Orochimaru's abilities.

As far as I'm concerned, Sarutobi's battle is still one of the best in the series.

While I agree that it seems more advantageous to have more people on a team to "help" you, all too often they end up hindering you by either overloading you with opinions/suggestings or just straight bickering with you/each other. (Those things aren't mutually exclusive.)

Jiraiya was a beast, kishi just put him in bad situations.

1) Tsunade just didn't like him, not till the end anyways.
2) In his fight with oro, id say oro was better off. Oro still had all his chakra/ stamina, where as jiraiya was only fighting at 3o %. Tsunade druged him so that he'd be weak enough to kill.
3) Jiraiya couldn't save the 3rd because he was busy saving alot of the villagers from the giant snakes. Plus i bet he didn't know all the details of what was going on.
4) Jiraiya confronted itachi and kisame like it was a walk in the park. That whole situation is still ??? maybe we'll get an answer on that sooner or later.
5) Pain
Pain is basically a mini quasi borg collective. Each one of the 6 specalizing in a certain skill. One guy has the power of reanimation, one guy eats jutsu, one's a summoning monster, one's a taijutsu beast, etc..... Then there's prolly a 7th pain just chillin watching everything unfold.
J-man went against someone who would own 96% of everyone in naruto.
It's a tough situation for anyone.

don't know how naruto is suppose to fight any of these "boss" characters. only genjutsu has proved effective against pain and naruto cant use any of that. tobi with the sharingan would own him as well.

Sorry, I'm not convinced that Itachi is some sort of informant just based off of that. The Akatsuki members have balls the size of two Odama Rassengans. Even the other (arguably weaker) members took the risk of "waltzing" into a village and potentially fighting the strongest ninja of said village (along with the jinchuuriki itself). It's not just Itachi.

The only thing that makes him suspect is that he's returning to the very same village he abandoned (but that could mean the Akatsuki is just using that to their advantage since he'd likely have the most knowledge/information on Konoha).

Killing his whole clan is something I highly doubt an informant would do just to help bust a criminal organization.

That's the big question. Why didn't itachi just fight jiraiya.

It's not like he went into konoha screaming "yo where's naruto!!". They went in ninja like, and kakashi just happened to notice them. Then they left when they realized reinforcements were on the way.

No. There was nothing specific to Gai IIRC.

Itachi's pretext for leaving Konoha, outside of Naruto not being there, was that if Gai had shown up, then it was likely even more reinforcements were on the way and that it would be injurious as well as unnecessary to fight them all just to get to Kakashi, especially when Naruto was the primary target and already isolated.

As for being "afraid" of Jiraiya, it does have to more with him using Tsukiyomi like two times before that, but considering that Jiraiya doesn't have the Sharingan and looked him dead in the eye before Itachi used Amaterasu to escape, Itachi could have easily killed or otherwise incapitated Jiraiya if he wanted to with yet another Tsukiyomi.

And yet he didn't want to.

As for Hermit Mode, no one knew about that useless bullshit pre-Timeskip. It never even came up. And I kind of doubt that it was greater than all of Konoha that point with Kakashi, Gai, Shizune AND Tsunade there.

yamato only told him that bcuz he realized that naruto was defaulting to demon fox chakra more and more. like if naruto could some how utilize his normal chakra as well as the demon fox then that'd make him that much more powerful when he transformed and he also probably doesn't know about thiis demon fox jutsu that jiraiya is about to give naruto.
actually i forget which chapter it was but i also got the impression that yamato truly believes that naruto doesn't need the kyuubi's power. when sakura gets injured by the fox's chakra during the fight with orochimaru, he realises that naruto's probably the only person who can withstand the poisonous effects of the chakra cloak. i don't know, it seems too often we're made to believe that naruto's natural chakra is really massive and the only reason he's still alive. don't know if it's been mentioned yet, but what if the whole reason the fourth sealed just the yang chakra (whatever the hell that means) within his kid was so that it would develop his own chakra gradually as it's constantly in training to keep the kyuubi's power in check. as the fourth's seal weakens with time, naruto naturally get's stronger kinda deal.
until eventually naruto's chakra=kyuubi's chakra. or somewhere close. at least enough to blow everyone else out the water including kisame.

it sort of defeats the whole theme of hard work overcoming genius if in the very end naruto just spanks everybody because he's able to harness a bijuu's power. then again, that's probably exactly what's going to happen.

I find it really weird that Jiraiya has a Fire Element Rasengan now considering how much of an emphasis that was made to be about impossible that shit that's supposed to be, even though the game doubtless ends before Kakuzu and Hidan even show up.

Considering how large and overdone the fucking explosions are, though, I can certainly overlook that.

It's nice to see that the other two teams are now represented as having grown up, especially since they have some quite impressive ougi.

But, hey, if Tenten can do something in a game, why not Ino?

Outside of the weird Jiraiya thing, I found a few other things odd, like how they gave Gaara a new ougi and removed an old one even though he's still captured (and presumably depowered) in this game or Kurenai still has only that one super while Asuma, who also never does anything, already has two. Meh.

All I know is that they were awesome and Kabuto proves again why he's relatively underrated despite having done more shit than half of the people in the show.

True. There appear to only have been three teams, though, considering Tobi is actually the leader and Konan was utterly useless.

Fixed yet again. For the most part, the anime is just following the manga for the parts that it's not creating egregiously long filler for. So even if the art style improved, they would be stuck following mostly shitty turns of events.

This game is teh sickness. And assist use is broken. Very much so. Team up the right 2 characters = RAPE PARTY!!! Master Mode isn't as good as the last one. It's much of the same, but the platform elements from the first one are pretty much gone. But you run a 3-Man Cell so the fights are over kind of quick. But you can only control Naruto in battle mode which sucks. But in exploration sections you can be any character in your squad. Once you beat Master Mode the first time you'll want to run around the whole map with Neji spamming Byakugan to find all the pickups and the like. So its a worthy sequel worthy of your money and/or bandwidth. Hopefully the money.

If you go on gamefaqs and download the save for the previous game "Naruto Shippuuden Narutimate Accel" and then put it on your memory card, this will unlock most characters for you in versus mode. Every from pre-time skip will be unlocked and you will be only missing chiyo, sasori, deidara, itachi, kisame, yamato, sai, and some others. I played the story mode about half-way with no problems. I find that simply pressing start button while in story and then going to the green scroll (I think), will take you to a map that shows your location, and the location your suppose to go to. Thats how I progressed through the game at least. If your needing to know the buttons, just ask...

Much of what is known now is in that document, so if you got it click it and read up. I have more gameplay stuff to post but I'm to busy playing to do so. So when I get a free minute I will.

Been updated a lot since I posted the link. That document will get you to the end of story mode. A lot of Yamato's Wood Clones have been discovered. I.E. the way to unlock the assists. And if you don't have the Accel 1 save, unlocks PTS characters when you defeat them in battle. And some of the Memory Book pages. Which if the word is true unlocks Sasuke's story mode or something like that. But trust me just keep a tab for the link open and refresh it every now and again. Every couple of hours some new info is added. As I find out more info I'll post it up.

Some program that lets you access PS2 saves from either a HD or USB Drive. I personally like Action Replay EVO for things of that nature. But there are plenty of options. Hell, they have some kinda new memory card that has a usb slot on it. If I come across it, I'll post it.

Well the zip has the save in various formats, so I will just use the .max save by putting it on a pen drive (mem. stick)and use my armax to transfer it onto my memory card...

But i did play story mode so far up to assembing team yamato.

I know that it's hard to believe that Madara lost to Shodaime, but he did and I think I know why. Shodaime had the unique ability to tame the tailed beasts, so with Madara being capable of summoning the strongest tailed beast, Shodaime will be able to tame the Kyuubi (which makes that summoning pointless) and be skilled enough to defeat Madara. We don't know the circumstances in which Madara lost, but we do know that he did.

Trust me. With all the valid points that I stated above doesn't meant that I still find it possible that Madara was defeated. But as I stated before, we don't know the circumstances of his defeat.

The Itachi and Sasuke scenes were very interesting and I can't wait to see what Itachi has in store for his brother.

FOREVER! But realistically, their fight should drag out for at least a month and a half so we all can see everything that those two are capable of. One of the problems with this anime is that no one goes completely all out and show everything that they can do.
