Naruto is "fairly linear" because Kishimoto makes him that way when that's not the only way he has to be or even should be considering he can relate to so many people supposedly.

When a character "has" to die to just to help another character grow, that's often (very) bad writing.

I like sasuke myself, in all honestly he's just doing his own thing, and he is 110 times cooler than naurto.

Of course he's "cooler". (Whatever the hell that is, since "coolness" is different for everyone and yet still usually based on things that shallow as hell like a super case of pink eye.)

Even if you're a complete jackass like Sasuke, it's not difficult to be more likable than someone who can pretty much only fail like Naruto or Tenten. (Hell, I like Sasuke better than Naruto, but I don't really like either of them overall.)

What the hell are you talking about? Just this year alone, two of the major fights had whole months where Naruto (or anyone else without Dojutsu) wasn't even fucking mentioned, much less seen.

Maybe in all the anime episodes, but the anime's not canon anyway. (And would probably add filler of Naruto or someone wasting time by "powering up" in a loop for 10 minutes straight once we get to this point.)

This manga should be called Dojutsu simply because Pain is now a main player. Otherwise, Sharingan would have been accurate long ago concerning the main reason for the story.

Even though it seems like you sensted the obvious part about Kishimoto's favoritism, you Obvious Sense apparently stopped tingling just after that.

Notice that the voice actors all asked about their own characters. Why the hell would they give a damn about anyone else's? The only reason that Jiraiya and Tsunade were asked about was likely because they are direct teachers of Naruto and Sakura, respectively. (If you can still call Jiraiya a "teacher"....)

I reckon, I reckon, with Kishi saying Naruto will have to wait we'll see Naruto destroyed after Jiraiya's death and possibly giving up on Sasuke, maybe even just dissapearing for a while, while the story continues.

It would be the ideal way to actual turn Naruto into the protagonist we were all hoping he'd be when he came back from the timeskip, yeah you need some comedy idiot in there but he needs a major powerup and a severe growing up as Kishi has said.

As for what the big event for Kakashi is, I'm going to either go with:
Explanation of Madara/Obito/Tobi etc
Tsunade leaves/dies, he's Hokage
Death, that would be a major growing up for Sakura too imo, I think she's closer to him than Tsunade

Correction. Kishimoto writing Naruto that way made sense until we got passed the Chunnin Exams and that's being liberal about. Kishimoto could have already had him start evolving after he became friends with Haku, who then tried to kill (half-heartedly) and died still saving the only person that he really loved, Zabuza, the enemy. By that point too, Sasuke was at least starting to respect him, even if Sakura was still being a bitch.

Since I rag on you all the time and I talk to much anyway, I'd like to hear your excuses again for why he should be acting like complete dumbass--I could totally forgive occasionally, still not like the character as much as others in the manga, and yet still see that he would be a better character if that was the case.

Looking at the possibilities; Tsunade is her teacher and all but ever since she left her training she's been doing is missions with the regular team. Tsunade dying would be the obvious choice, but it could also mean Kakashi dying and Sakura growing up through that. [which would explain Kakashi's big scenario as well]

Tsunade dying and giving Kakashi [or anyone else the title of Hokage] just doesn't work, ESPECIALLY after Jirayai told her to not move around - stay in the village and keep things in check. He specifically told her "what kind of village wants their leader to keep switching" - So I predict Tsunade's death is going to be a lot later than the given information.

The sad thing is, unlike One Piece ( probably the most entertaining Jump comic ), the whole thing isn't super goofy. It's SUPER SERIOUS. BELIEVE IN YOURSELF!

I was re-reading the Orochimaru/Heartless Nalto fight yesterday and realized for someone who wants to learn ALL THE JUTSU IN THE WORLD, Orochi sure likes using only 3. Snakes, stretchy neck/sword antics, and GIANT FUCKING WALL.

That is it. It's the same with every character. They are all good characters idea wise and plot wise, but the way they are implemented is terrible.

Kakashi is supposed to know 1000 jutsu, he has used like 6 so far in part 2 total. For some reason the only character Kishi sorta gets right is Shikamaru, which is why everyone thinks he owns. Still Kishi gets a little retarded with the "I am thinking 200 steps ahead of you" thing. When he put Kazuku's blood on Hidans sword, wouldn't Hidan have noticed it was black? Since when did Shika start bleeding black thread?

Hanabi could easily replace Neji, since the one time we saw here, she was billed up to be the bad-ass of the family. Plus, she's in the main family (for some reason, even though she shouldn't be...), so she's being trained to be able to use the techniques Neji had to develop on his own.

Speaking of Sasuke, I was bored yeseterday (like all days, really), and thus decided to see if I could find any decent fanfictions about Naruto that didn't focus on romance or yaoi or horrible characterizations.

I was thus surprised to find one where Sasuke is still at the point of being outclassed because of the point in Naruto's life that he stuck in on. Especially since it happened to be on the front page last night. (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3929411/1/Chunin_Exam_Day)

Anyway, I was rather skeptical about how the premise could be pulled off, especially since I tend to avoid things with the K(+) rating.

I'll have to stop doing that from now on or else I might miss some other ones that are quite decent.

From the comment before Chapter 1 drawing me to the hilarity in Chapter 4 and 7 to other characters actually being portrayed as actually useful (even freaking Tenten, though humorously for us it doesn't violate the she can't hit shit clause we have for her...yet), it's been quite enjoyable. On top of that, it actually gives extremely plausible reasons for Naruto sucking that I'm sure we'll never see Kishimoto use even though he's so flashback heavy. (It would be pretty late now, anyway.)

I will warn there is Sasuke hate, but quite a lot of it is warranted and not out of character on Sasuke's part when it comes to his arrogance. There is also Sakura hate since Naruto finally realizes that you-know-who was more worth his time, but I don't think anyone (here) likes pre-timeskip Sakura. The bitch.

One could infer this. Last time we saw Naruto and Sasuke, the latter was far stronger looking. And yet Naruto has surpassed Kakashi, as stated by Kakashi himself. However, Naruto could possibly be superior to Sasuke at this point from his training (although he'll never look it since he's the Yusuke-style underdog), when Kakashi admitted to Naruto being better.

So while there's room for speculation due to the fact that we haven't seen Naruto and Sasuke directly throw down since Naruto's KB/Fuuton training (and thus don't know whether or not Naruto > Sasuke which could mean Kakashi is still > Sasuke), the safe bet is that yeah, Sasuke's stronger than Kakashi at this point.

I think Naruto's up there with Kakashi. Maybe not on flat out skill (obvious) but he has some major advantages over Kakashi. He doesn't get tired, he doesn't run out of chakra, and he might look foolish over a while during a battle but once he lands his hit it's usually over. If they fought Kakashi would definitely have to put him out early. Not to mention demon fox form would probably be too much for him if he's out of seals to suppress. Kakashi's sharigan tactic of copying jutsu is pretty much useless against naruto as well since what he does can't really be copied. Anyway, just nerd talk, we'll never know what up. he might hit him with the MS sharingan and send his ass to another dimension.

Still mad that there hasn't been a long drawn out fight with Kakashi v Kabuto, the only true nins.

So... I just caught up on the manga (I've only read spoilers the last few weeks).

Even Zetsu knows about Madara?

If that's the case, then only Itachi/Kisame "don't know" that Tobi is a front. That means a couple of things.

1) Zetsu is probably a beast.

2) Itachi is not a trusted member of Akatsuki

3) Zetsu has his own agenda. He lied to Itachi/Kisame when he said that Sasuke/Tobi died (presumably under Pein/Madara's orders), yet he failed to tell Pein that Itachi and Sasuke were about to engage (which is clearly pertanent information since it shows that Itachi didn't believe the lie, and likely knows more than he lets on).

All this means that the story can get damn interesting, damn quick.

Also more insight on Itachi's role in the overall story.... he's not what some of you think he is. I'm convinced of that (well, I've been convinced of that...). The next month should be fun. Uchihas drive the story, and the two brothers are about to have a long chat after Sasuke proves his worth.

Well Itachi feels Sasuke is a worthy enough opponent to fight. This could last a while. But if its a good fight, that's fine. I thoguht the Sasuke vs. Dedi fight start off good but degraded to crap, and don't even get me started on that sucktacular concolusion. :rolleyes:

Turns out Sasuke is standing on the Madara Uchiha statue on the left, and Naruto is standing on the First's statue on the right. Ooh, more past generation-to-next symbolism.

The amazing thing I think is, J had the potential to actually kill Pein. If the song went off when all six bodies were there J would have saved the day.

Of course, that was really the frogs genjutsu but then again they are summons so he gets the credit still. Pein even admited J would have won if he knew Peins secret, but what exactly is it.

That whole fight answered little and created more questions about Pein and the Rinnegan imo.
