wtf....i got negged for my question....wtf, where is my premium.....whatever can uhh someone verify that for me though...i heard that it was a rumor that they all launch games were singled threaded, someone has to know if there is some truth to that.....and whoever negged me, you could've signed it at least, man up.
All the launch games are single threaded. When developers start using all the tools that the system offers you will see what nextgen is all about. I can't wait for the day when I can sitdown in front of my beautiful setup and have the option of playing the 360, PS3, or Revolution.

What's with the rush? I mean seriously, they should have taken their time with this shit and not rush out a bunch of defective pieces of crap. Then they piss off even more potential customers as a result of rushing a launch by making the systems availible in extremely limited amounts.

So in turn what happens is:
For every defective system sold is a pissed off customer AND another xbox 360 (if the other is unrepairable) that could've been sold to someone else.

And people who made the long lines are going to buy something else because they couldnt get a system.

I think getting any system on launch is a waste, regardless of who makes it. Most launch titles don't realize the potential of the system and the console is horribly over priced. Buying into the hype is kinda like throwing money away. It's fairly reasonable to wait for more game developement before investing in a system. Most people won't be able to afford all the next gen systems, so there's no hurt in waiting to see what appeals to you most.

Besides, the current gen systems have some damn good games, and they're only slightly less graphically than the launch titles (ie. God of War is ridiculously pretty, and so is shadow of the colossus. Both for ps2). Don't get me wrong, CoD2 is really pretty, but not worth my 500 dollars. And I think PDZ and CoD2 are the only launch games worth getting, but that's just me.

I think the big issue here is that many of us are growing up and the games don't appeal to us that much anymore.

This is not to say that we are "outgrowing" the games. I believe that now that we are older, it takes a lot more to impress us.

Right now, I have a really hard time staying interested in a game. GTA, SO3, Xenosaga: Ep 2, RE4, NBA 2K6, DQVIII, DMC3, GoW, MGS3, all had something that just had me hooked. Had me coming back for more.

Everything else to me has just been... other. SvR06 was fun for a while. Now is it just collecting dust. Same goes with DBZ:BT (rental) and SotC (just didn't feel this one. Still impressive nonetheless). They just aren't that fun.

I plan to buy an X-Box and mod the shit out of it before getting a 360,PS3, or Revolution. I want to play my NES, SNES, MAME, Genesis games :tup:

That's the mood I'm in right now. I need that "WOW!" factor but so far, the 360 isn't it yet. I'm sure when they hit their groove, I'll start to pay more attention. Until then, pass me Mega Man 2 and my NES :karate:

I heard Quake 4 doesnt look as sharp on 360. AND the games framerates took a major hit compared to the PC. If this is true then thats just sad that a PC version of a current gen game is that superior to it's "next-gen" port.

And quake 4 on PC supports 16 players. I heard 360 version only supports 8.:shake:

dont take this the wrong way, I don't play console games, so really I could care less. I'm just amused by the hatred that runs deep in this thread. Me I'm gonna save up for a new computer. I could care less about consoles.

But the way I see the future is that the line between consoles and computers will continue to blur until there is very little difference between them. So in the end it doesn't really matter. I mean your consoles today come with hard drives, funtion as media centers, and some come with USB ports. I wouldn't be surprised to see the difference between consoles and computers to continue to be broken down.

Yeah benching a console is going to be pretty ridiculous. At first glance seeing 8 player Q4 means everything and yet nothing. Hell, Doom 3 (PC) had what? 4 player DM modes?. But then you see, the same engine 2 years later is optimized and can support 16 players. The same is going for the xbox 360. The game engine really hasn't been tested extensively on the 360 to place it up there with its PC brother.

Its not that the hardware is lacking, right now its the software, and the developers that need to feel out the hardware. The Doom Engine isn't really all that scaleable in the first place, not to mention the amount of Textures that game has, can straight up kill you on Ram alone. They have the video beefing out knuckle children but the Memory leaves more to be desired. I myself will never get a XBox360, cause its basically a pc. PS3 maybe, but the thing is with consoles the only thing keeping them from wrecking the PCs are the onboard Memory and the hardware manu. not working side by side with the software devs. Hell 360 in this aspect is a saint compared to coding on a PS3. But sony is also known for doing shit like this aka Emotion Engine, AAC sound format, RootKits, MiniDisc, and it goes on.

If done right the P3 can seriously take home the gold. Sony just needs to step their game up in their online services. They have been too busy of late trying to protect petty shit that its going to bite them in the end. Nintendos console is going to be ither a sleeper or a N64 Disc Drive failure and thats the only way. Nintendo keeps evolving the game, yet they take their fair amount of stupid pills that would make a grown man cry (thats if they marketed it towards grown men and not that of pre teeny boppers). All in it prolly play out like this.

yep this is what i've said about this a while ago. this happened with the nintendo ds, there was a "huge shortage" when it first came out around this time. Nov. and Dec. the DS online was averaging to around 220 dollars so a good 60-70 dollar profit minus fees.

towards Dec. 10th was when ebayers got fucked royally up the ass. this "huge shortage" was no more. from no where unannounced they shipped 1 million more and there was absolutely no shortage. lots of ebayers lost money instead.

The thing is, I actually have/had the time, resources, money to go through with all this (atm anyway). Not working right now + entire week off school. On top of that I definitely had enough dough to pre-order that many units when pre-orders were put on the market and I could've made it somewhat on top of the lists. I was working at the mall during the first of selling pre-orders, def. noticed them but didn't think much of it.

I know the limit is one per person but there is one Gamestop across the street from where I live, next to a Best Buy, and across the street from that shopping center there are two video game stores at the mall.

About the not getting it on launch, I've got on reply to that one. Since most pre-orders can only be refunded for store credit. Thats a risk I'd be willing to take. Still, much easier said than done :P

From my experience with PGR3 and CoD2, I can say that the 360, despite the hype and the hate, is good shit.

360 is dope. I don't even like the original XBOX, but the 360 is bomb. Sure, the current games are "OK"... nothing quite spectatular yet... but that's generally how releases are. The actually release list is pretty good compared to most others (on the whole). What's the most exciting (imo) is the actual system interaction. The menus, the online stuff, the way it all interacts with your games, the profiles (accomplishments and such). It's pretty badass.

I'll be the first to admit that I'll be in the PS3 line, and the Revolution line... but even for all my dislike of MS, the 360 is seriously nice. Now all we need are some REAL reasons to own it... (like, you know, some exclusive elite games like Gears of War and stuff). I'm glad I got one... totally worth the wait. Not interested in making a quick buck off it on eBay. DOA4 (yeah, you know you will play it, even if it sucks lol), Gears, Oblivion (might be cool, dunno) and a few other games... already looking more interesting than most of the stuff from the first year of XBOX 1.

PGR3 doesn't like 1280x1024 mode :cry: everything displays perfect 1:1 with borders(menu, geometry wars..), but in race the 720p image is distorted and stretched to fill in the 1280x1024 screen. only game that does this so far i think.

anyway, y'all played geometry wars?? man that shit is TOO GOOD!! it's addictive, and the music is nice. definitely worth the $5 it goes for on the marketplace(also time attack mode in PGR3).

core+harddrive+vga cables. ya u lose the wireless controller and the media remote and the headset. but.. wirded controller works with windows, media remote well i cant argue about taht, heasdset- just use one from a cell phone like me. they were sold out of pres.

I work at Wal Mart and when I left Monday morning the line to start waiting had already begun inside around 7:30 AM. When I returned to work last night they were still there. Wal Mart set up chairs for them with numbers under each chair to keep place in line. You were only allowed to go to the bathroom as a break, anything else and your spot was fair game to the next available person. They had 32 systems, and only 4 of those were the HD bundle, so most of these guys waited 17+ hours in a chair at Wal Mart for the shittier bundle with no HD. Why these people chose to do this instead of just putting $50.00 down at Gamestop a month ago is a mystery to me. Then around 12:30 they were gone and we had about 50 people waiting outside asking how we could have sold out that quick. :rolleyes: I have to say it was quite sad to see these guys, I do say guys as there was not one female present, nodding out and in obvious discomfort over a fucking video game system. :lame: I know there have been worse lines and waits for other things, but actually seeing it right in front of you was just...damn. I do feel better knowing that my 3 hour wait for a N64 years back is nothing compared to what goes on now.

i was at Best Buy today just looking around for some DVD movies and then i came to the video game section. NOBODY CROWDED AROUND THE XBOX 360! i was like, WTF all this hype, but no crowd on the XBox 360's nuts. so i gave the system a try and i'm very impressed with the graphics. they were as smooth as silk and can run easily. i played Call of Duty 2 and that shit was an awesome experience. there were lots of lag moments like grenades in counter-strike where they lag over the simplest things, but xbox cleaned that problem. well, Xbox 360 handled it perfectly. the cut scenes for need for speed most wanted was fucking awesome! i enjoyed my time at best buy with no one else waiting in line to play.

I got the circuit city web buy pack, came in the mail today, hooked it all up and started playing Most Wanted on my DLP *No Lag and looks fuckin' great* I bought a wired controller for my computer/the 4th player and within the CC pack came an extra wireless controller. After paying MW for a couple of minutes, I went to turn on the second wireless controller......nothing. I switched batteries, moved it from left to right, up and down and still no connection! Fuck M$, so tomorrow if it doesn't work, I am going to buy another one at walmart and take the broken one back. Unless someone knows a fix for this......

First, turn on your wireless controller, so that the ring of light is on
Second, turn on your 360
Next, hit the connect button the system *its a plain ass white button near the second memory card slot*
Then, hit the connect button on the wireless controller, it should sync up.

I dont know if you did that yet, so give that a shot.

I was playing PGR last night with my family and I switched to the cockpit view and the windshield view and have to say I was comfortable driving in both. It felt as if I was in the car myself, especially when I spun out or crashed. Hope you get one and the game on launch.

BTW, is the Enzo the last car in that game? Everyone on XBL has the car and races it (I'm a casual gamer)

You can clearly see the leap from a reg. tv. Text is legible, colors are better and everything is extremely sharp.

i won a race in first place. my tv said you win and my position was 1st. as other people finished the race not only was i in second, i was 6 seconds the guy in first. the other people in the room complained of the same problem. one of the cars that seemed stuck was actually ahead of me.

I can explain the deal with finishing the race in first but then ranking lower. What position you finish in isn't what matters, it's your lap time. Somehow, if there's a lag issue, the cars get out of synch, so the game bases the final scores on the lap times to make sure lag isn't changing who's actually in first. It's only happened to me twice. For the most part the game doesn't get out of sych, and everyone is ranked in the order they actually cross the finish line.

As for the cars staying dead at the starting line, that has never happened to me once, don't know what to say there.

hdd space, you can erase the big hd trailers that comes preloaded to free up some space. i'm not sure how much, but it should free up some. you should be able to free up mosst of what's used since there are no system files or important stuff besides the emulator and whatever's needed for media center capabilities, eh?

Whatup peeps, I happen to work at Best Buy and was just informed that the Xbox 360 will be relaunching the week of Dec 18th. I'm guessing this is due in part to the shortages/defective first round of consoles. So if any of you want one don't plan on going to class that week and plan on camping out in front of your local Best Buy. Customers at my store started lining up at 12 noon the day before during the first launch. Personally, if I wasn't working the relaunch I'd buy one just to sell it. Ebay is the wrong way to go btw, the best way to do it is to sell it during an early morning shipment at an electronics retailer to one of the parents who didnt get one. I saw a PS2 go for $900 on launch day back in 2000!

Hrmm...is it legit though? Don't all launch systems have some sort of design defects?

I have the feeling that somebody that rushed out to buy the 360 also probably just kept the damn thing on for like 3 days straight, and that's why problems started. I also wouldn't be surprised if Sony paid off some people to report problems.

Sony just settled for their class action suit a few weeks ago in Cali. I think I'm entitled to $50, but then they might know I modded it, and I can always make self-repairs. In fact, that's exactly what I did! :)

This guy is dumb. Problems like this arose on basically every console since the Playstation days (I remember each of them because I have owned all of them) especially on Version 1 models. He could have easily called Microsoft and had the console sent in for a replacement but he didnt, instead, opting to sue MS. This will not hold up in court for that very fact and he will lose.

Not to mention, isn't that why there's a 90 day warranty or whatever it is with most electronics? Theres already a remedy available for a defective product, why would a court step in?

HA! Wouldnt you like to believe so? My very 1st gamecube overheated and due to that, my games froze and started to make some sort of buzzing sound coming from the TV. I had it sent in and got a brand new console in it's stead. There are other people who have had these problems as well so it wasnt just me.

there is. All he had to do was call up MS. There's also an extended warranty a retailer asks you to buy as well, and judging from what happened with this guy, he refused. If he had bought the warranty like they asked, all he could have done was go back to the store and gotten a new one.

as stupid as it sounds, there have been many cases where people win.

a woman has sued mcdonalds for over a million because she bought coffee and it spilled her lap while she drove in the car, and she won.
