I made a profile on a friends account to save my gamertag. I didnt want it to be taken and now i need to know how to get it back. I cant currently sign in bc its linked to his live account, will deleting my account on his 360 free up my name again?

also why the hell wont .avi files stream from your pc to your 360 wtf. Is there any way around this without having to convert hours and hours of video?

Not until Microsoft stops being bitches and lets formats beside .wmv playable.

also why the hell wont .avi files stream from your pc to your 360 wtf. Is there any way around this without having to convert hours and hours of video?AVI is a generic container format. Use something like TVersity where they *want* to deal with all the bullshit randomness that is AVI.

"WMV" implies the Windows Media set of codecs.
"AVI" implies you don't know WTF is in the file.

So you could theoretically do it, but it's rather a nightmare and one that Microsoft is quite well-served to walk away from until they can do it right.

I've gotten it to work. I don't know why people can't. Perhaps you have a firewall that is blocking the connection, but mine works flawlessly.

If you can't get it to work, I recommend you google for Windows Media Connect 2.0. Its the same thing more or less, but unlike TVersity, it doesn't allow you to share/stream individual files... only folders.

I'm on it now. I still say shotgun is retarded and needs to be patched.

With offlne quality, you can gun down people so hard at mid range with machinegun or pistol. You can EASILY down someone trying to get in w/ the shotty at that range.

It's latency that makes the shotgun better than it really is. Someones runnin up on you on an angle, meanwhile you're shots have a half second "trail" behind them. So, now you're in a Shotty battle and again have to take into account lag.

If you have a host connection it's like one shot BAM dead or down. But if it's two dudes with non-host it can take 5 minutes of missing each other.

Of course, Sabre could rape us both in that game...

Well, this was the straw that broke the camel's back for a lot of people on Phantasy Star....yesterday's update was supposed to add 20something Ultimate Photon Arts...suddenly ST had "technical difficulties" as they say...so no 20 Ultimate PAs....the only thing in that update yesterday was a new online story mission. Oh yes...the DRAMA. Phantasy Star always comes thru on that. You should see the amount of bitching on the PS related forums now....it's a disaster. haha, I love "fiasco" situations like this, where lots of people are pissed off. Then there's those who keep trying to defend Sega/Sonic Team....it's like a big soap opera of bitterness, heated arguments, and anger....it's delicious....more entertaining than the game itself.

My shop, FART~MART....dammit it's just not selling anything lately. I've dropped prices on various things, and yet no product is moving. Nobody is buying Dookieman's shit, so to speak. This sucks....in the first few days of business, FART~MART was on fire with cash just rollin' in daily.

I'm just now reading up on "Jericho"....I had no idea Clive Barker was involved. That's instant cool points right off the bat, imo. I'm definitely interested in this game.

So...does anyone know how the timed "Escape!" stage in Assault Heroes is even possible? That doesn't seem to be anywhere near enough time...not even close. It's like if I put someone in the middle of the Sahara fuckin Desert and said "ok, you have to make it to New York City in 7 minutes. Go!"

come to think of it....I've never liked these kind of segments in games, where you've already killed the boss, but you have to make it out of the base before everything blows up...it's just never been fun for me. I didn't even like it in Viewtiful Joe(a game I praised endlessly as one of the greatest things ever, remember)

When I beat it, I didn't have much time left at all. You do have to get out of your vehicle a few times. And I believe if you stay near the top of the screen, it will scroll upward faster.

Escape sequences only really work in Metroid anyway.

I must apologize, for I had a moment of weakness....and bought a UMK3 gamerpic picture pack. I was trying to hold back, but the Noobsaibot, Reptile, and Ermac gamerpics were too great to resist. What's even more sad is that I don't even play UMK3 much anymore. The cpu ai is just too cheap to really have fun. Jade beats you whenever the cpu feels like winning. Every time I win, I can't help but feel like the cpu simply allowed me to do so. This has plagued the entire franchise though....so MK has only ever been fun to me if I'm playing against another person, since the cpu is the most notoriously cheap piece of shit ever programmed.

*I got back into playing Small Arms....I forgot how fun this could be...the game still could be much more strategically interesting if there was an evade or block technique. It would undoubtedly add a much needed layer of depth to the battles, and the game would improve drastically, imo. I'd say...why not steal a little more from other games, and have a shield that runs out, like in Smash? Since it runs out, that obviously prevents people from turtling all day with a penalty(dizziness) for using it up or letting your sheild break.

I'm still loving the chicken character. He has the belt, like a real champion. In terms of actual gameplay appeal though, the weapon is great...fire to create hazard zones on the field...and the explosive secondary attack does great damage, and is simple enough to aim. The only drawback though is that he just can't fight effectively at long range.
*oh and what happened with this game? I thought extra content was in the works? There's even a "Download Content" option on the title screen.

new high score -- 32,707.

I finally beat Assault Heroes the other day...with 3 seconds left on the timer. I was ready to give up, actually...and then suddenly there was the cinema scene.

I'm probably quitting PSU soon. There's just not much to do anymore, and my character isn't even close to the current level cap. There's not much to do, and nothing major to look forward to, other than online story missions.

Speaking of UMK3, I have beaten the last boss of every fighting game I have ever played which may very well be every fighting game ever released in the U.S. but....

XBOX360 Shao Kahn is IMPOSSIBLE!!!

Fight goes like this....knee, hammer, knee, hammer, shoulder, knee, shoulder, hammer...

I wasted 1hr one night trying to beat him with every character and failed horribly cause the matches last like 10 sec as he forces me in the corner and does the series of moves above, thus raping me with NO fucking feasible way of winning cause even if I block Iam stunned and get hit by somthing else.

WHoever has beat him what is the AI secret? I tired waiting for him to laugh and shit but wtf I almost broke my controller. I hate him so...

XBOX360 Bison owns me for lunch. I don't understand why. I came close to beating him once out of 6 tries. I guess it's a testament to how much I've regressed.

The idea for Live Arcade is to have certain games for casual gamers to relish in their childhood with. I'm pretty sure most of the people playing don't want to be raped. They don't remember being raped by bosses like that back in the day. Well... they do... but... not on this level.

Sub Zero and Cyrax own the shit out of Kahn. Duck his fireballs and don't block so he doesn't go gaurd damage.

Crouch under his knee and freeze/trap him when he goes for hammer.

Crouch and don't block when he shoulder charges and uppercut kahn into a freeze/trap combo.

When he decides to laugh (Normally in the second round) Do your best combo. Cyrax can do his 7 hit into a net and double bomb easily.

Sub Zero can do whatever combo works for him.

If you are Sub Zero, slide a lot. Cyrax should use his teleport.

OR use scorpion and just Lp,Lp, Spear uppercut. Here is a video of how to do this.

Yeah just sign out of what ever profile you have on your 360 now, then there should be an option called "Recover Gamertag". It will then ask for your info that you used to create the Gamertag you made on your friends xbox. It will then download it onto your xbox and the make it so that the one you made on your friends doesn’t work.

My friend use to do this all the time when he would come over to play Halo. He would recover on mine so he could sign in, then when he went back home he would do it again on his xbox.

yeah, I remember MK2 being more fun anyway...even from the perspective of an eternally "non-tourney" level MK fan. Part 2 was before Midway decided to ramp up the cpu cheapness to super-douchebag levels.

*It really annoys me that MK Armageddon was last gen only. Is it on a BC list? If not, this is yet another reason I need to get an old Xbox 1 again. It's just so frustrating that 360 couldn't have had perfect, REAL backwards compatibility. Really, "BC" should be like a standard, expected feature at this point in the industry.

I loved that game at first when I had it on GC....until I realized it's apparently your success is based on either intense memorization of every possible safe spot with little to no margin for error.....or that you happen to actually be Jesus Christ. Not wanting to bother really with perfect memorization....and not being Jesus....I eventually just gave up on that game.

...and the funny thing is....that isn't even the worst I've seen. Naslectronical posted a vid I remember to some shooter "Mushamihimkkasjdrjweklrwkeehe" or whatever it's called....and it looks like whoever designed that was truly insane.

That is great news on getting an awesome shoot'em up to a wider audience through Xbox Arcade. Hopefully it starts a trend for 2nd chances on these overlooked games.

Here is another game coming out for XBLA from the makers of Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved. Boom Boom Rocket

A combination of Fantavision with DDR sounds like gold to me

As for VT3 same here online play has become a must now in these types of games. You can get so far with A.I. and friends playing, to actually have real competition is a must to keep games interesting. Plus the ability to be a spectator like in PGR3 is cool.

Yeah, Ikaruga wasn't my kind of shooter. You had to memorize every damn area to perfection, and the game was really meant to be played that one way. Classics like DoDonPanchi, you can play that game however you want. You want to have fun blasting the shit out of everything? Go ahead. You wanna try and go through the game one life? Fine. Trying to link as many combos as possible? Give a shot. In Ikaruga; you're going to be as close to perfection and get all these damn black and white links because its cool!

Meh. I know alot of people love that game, but it just wasn't me.

Some 360 rants:

I am in love with Gears. Man, Epic is one of my favorite studios now, and I didn't even know who they were before. In my eyes, this is the first American made game that not only matches a high end Japanese produced product, but exceeds it. There is no crappy animation, sloppy clunky gameplay, or derivitive garbage that I associate with alot of American made games.

4 months and I'm still playing this shit.

I cannot wait to play Unreal Tournament, though I've never played one before, Epic is now up with my top 5 fav developers so I hope it doesn't disapoint.

Virtua Fighter 4 should have online. Even though I defended it in the past, and I respect AM2 for not wanting their work tainted by online play, I've changed my tune. Look, SF2 is online and there are lag tactics that would never fly offline. Same thing with Gears; lag changes the game COMPLETELY. Regardless of this, I enjoy both of these games even with the lag. Online play w/ lag is better than no online at all.

I mean, shit, I played 3s online ALOT, and I always enjoyed it. When you played people that knew what they were doing, how to play the game, and had a nice connection it was almost offline-experience worthy. 3s is as timing and frame intensive as VF, or at least close, and Capcom made a worthy online experience even on a low budget. There is no reason AM2 can't do the same.

Bullet Witch and Vampire Rain are two sleeper titles to look for in the coming months.

VT3 will be my new crack when it is released. I'm praying to god Sega Sumo can match, exceed, or worst case scenario, come very close to the AM2 ported effort on PS3.

Ikaruga on XBLA is a godsend, and Treasure has said that they are developing an all new shooter for 360 as well so this is amazing news.

Virtua Fighter 5; lets hope its online, if not, lets hope its as good a port or better than the PS3 version. If it turns out that VT3 and VF5 are substantially better ports on the PS3, even without online shit, I will buy a PS3. So please, Sega, make it so I don't have to drop 750 after tax on all that stuff. I need that money for a bike helmet and jacket.

I predict that Halo 3 will officially bury the PS3 this winter. By 08 the PS3 will be considered a Sega Saturn level failure, with 360 effectively becoming the PS, and Wii the N64 to make a two generations ago console war analogy. This effectively forces a Metal Gear Solid 4 "subsistence" esque release on the 360 by Konomi in mid 2008. The 360 at this point, althogh still 3rd place, will become an at least viable Japanese platform. Wii buries the PS3 and 360 in Japan at this point.

Sony will pick up the pieces and be the first out the door with PS4 in 2010. Microsoft and Nintendo follow suit in Spring 2011 and fall 2011 respectively. Microsoft will have bought Capcom by then, and everyone turns their back on Microsoft for being the evil corporation it is.

It's silly to keep saying "next gen" when all new systems are out) graphics, overall fun based on my experience with the demo some months ago...and lots of good giant bug killin'. This appeals to me in a big way, as I was that kid that was always outside burning ants with my magnifying glass Sun-Laser of Doom™....there was just a fascination there with insects anyway, for me...for quite awhile, I wanted to be an entomologist.

Anyway, I need something new since PSU has become so damn stale now.

I read over at the gamefaqs board a few mentions of Alien Hominid being next week's Arcade game....I hope this is true, because I certainly was never excited for Paperboy...not in the 80s and sure as hell not now. And Root Beer Tapper, preceded by a week or two of nothing?! = booooo. I want real Arcade content. They need to get on the ball again, because the Arcade has sucked for the past several weeks. Gears is by far the superior game. Unlike you're absolutely in love with Lost Planet's multiplayer, you'll be done with it in a week, maybe two at most. I also thought LP was the shit based on the demos, but it's pretty underachieving and not worth $60. Definitely rent or borrow it before making a commitment.

I predict that Halo 3 will officially bury the PS3 this winter. By 08 the PS3 will be considered a Sega Saturn level failure,

I don't see this happening, in large part because 3rd party developers won't risk supporting one console over the other. Now that next-gen games are so freakishly expensive and the Wii's hardware sucks, a major release needs both the 360 and PS3 customer base to ensure profitability. In the end, MS and Sony will probably have comparatively equal share of the market, assuming Sony's ambitious plans for Blu-Ray don't go to shit.

The problem I had with Lost Planet was the A.I. It made sense to kill lots of somewhat intelligent/somewhat stupid alien insects. It's when you get to the space pirates that I really got annoyed at the game, there was no semblance of tactics or strategy on their part. They're like an enemy out of an NES game where they just march toward you in a straight line. Some people like this though, so I dunno. I think enemy artificial intelligence in games like Metal Gear and Ninja Gaiden just spoiled me, shrug.

AH would be a definite step back in the right direction.

You need to get both.

Gears is the second coming though. But I love LP. A hard choice.

Also, comparing them is wrong. Both shooters but the similarites end there. LP is about mechs, 16 player on huge maps, graplings hooks, and chaos. Gears is about Co-op, 4 on 4 team battles, cover etc. Apples and oranges my friend.

I went back to Assault Heroes and played through on Medium. I figured it was about time I made a spot on the real leaderboard for that game. That final boss is a bitch if you don't have your weapons fully upgraded. I still think that the game is too forgiving as far as taking damage goes....

It's not easy.

You have to beat the entire Sonic, Shadow, or Silvers entire quests for one achievement.

I forced my way through Sonics, through the horrible snow and fire boarding levels, to the Knuckles section which I could not figure out. Then I just turned the shit off in disgust and returned it to Hollywood Video.

I think I got 35% of Sonics quest done. Total achievements: 0.

I wonder...why is the loading that bad in Sonic? I seriously have not seen load times that terrible since the early playstation days...maybe even before that. The situation with the new Sonic being intolerable with regard to loading....that's so frustrating, as I was really interested in the new character Silver. Psychic powers in a game have been cool every time I've experienced them.(Psi Ops, Destroy All Humans, Mewtwo and Ness in Smash Bros.)

It just makes me angry when a game has such huge potential for greatness....and it ends up to be garbage....in this case---unacceptable load time and poor controls, apparently. It's been so long since I played the demo, I can't even remember the controls....but the load time issue itself was enough to kill that game to me. This is 2007, not 1995. Perhaps Sega needs to fire a lot of people, and start fresh with new, real talent...because this is just ridiculous.

*I was also probably the only person around that was looking forward to this Sonic much more than the Nintendo version. The one on *Revolution*(the system's real name, in my book) looks quite shallow, gameplay wise....just not really interesting....too linear, I guess. I know the same could be said for the 16bit Sonic games...but we're a few generations ahead of that now...games should be more open these days.

*and what the fuck is it with developers' love of bottomless pits? Sonic Team is especially guilty of this in all the recent 3d Sonics. 80% of the goddamn games has NO GROUND...like the average situation is this: The player's character is grinding on a wire or rail(oh how original) above the 10th bottomless pit stage in the fucking game. Too bad the retarded camera typically in these kinds of games will throw you off, and one slip = dead. It's just annoying, needlessly stressful(to the detriment of funfactor) and full of all kinds of cheap death situations.

It's sounding more and more like that may be the worst "main"(as opposed to spin-off stuff like Bean Machine or Spinball...I loved Bean Machine, btw) Sonic game ever created...a real embarrassment to the franchise.

I finally set out to get the Marksmanship acheivement in Small Arms, and finally it's mine. Apparently, you just avoid shooting the green targets at all. Only go for the blue and red targets to get as much points as possible for your time, and sure enough, getting over 10,000 is suddenly easy. Before I was really trying...I would just go wild and shoot everything....not caring too much for the results.

I think it's actually impossible to go thru that game without dying though...or continuing, for that matter. On the lava stage, you WILL die. It's just that simple. The difficulty of this game is just stupid sometimes. After that hellish stage, I think you're then on that really small map, fighting 3 people at once(usually Von Brown, that alien bitch<lamest character in the game>, and...Unit 51, I think)...and they will destroy you in 2 seconds, with perfect teamwork. You don't even get a chance to shoot someone more than once before you're dead on that stupid shit. It's almost as cheap as Halo 2's Cairo fucking Station on Legendary(which is probably the most impossible stage out of the entire previous generation of gaming. Where's the skill and tactics? Bullshit. You're seen = dead in 0.8 seconds. I seriously want to stab the person who designed that...stab him in his tongue, or rip his eyes out with the claw end of a hammer. Dick-eating little cunt. Impossible ass shit.)

*oh, she's not lame in terms of gameplay though....her weapon is borderline cheapness....I just hate the character....so of course I take great pleasure in killing her over and over. When fighting her 1 on 1 though...it's easy to trick her AI into running off the stage.

*No Gears yet, obviously...it's snowy/icy everywhere here....so I've stayed in the apartment all day. I didn't even go out to get the mail.

I can't seem to connect to ranked matches in Gears. I really don't like playing with randoms, but I could use the acheivement points. Is it worth the effort to play ranked matches in that game?

i usually look for 21 round matches (or whatever the max is, haven't played in a while). they last an hour but you can usually get a lot of kills in that time.

i beat crackdown last week, horrible game. After you beat it, has a horrible ending and no replay value. No side missions, only thing is to level up your character and collect orbs which is tedious. Oh and the race missions or jumping missions which are pretty stupid. Also, all the bad guys are gone, so the only way to work up your firearms, strength, and explosion ratings is through the time trials. I guess driving too (tho you can do the races), but you get points faster by running over people with your car. Overall the game took me about 9 hours to beat, but I wasted a lot of it at the end leveling up for the achievements.

One thing about 360 seems to be the horrible endings to the exclusive games (non ports from PC or other systems). Dead Rising was good, then the ending was just like what the hell. Crackdown story was lame, but the ending was pretty bad too. Saint's Row was alright. Was there any 360 games with a good story and good ending?

I wish I could get on the internet to play Gears, but comcast shut me down for downloading too much so I have to wait til feb 28th for verizon to install fios in my house :(

They've obviously spent a great deal of time constructing the game's environments, 'cause the city itself looks great. Too bad there's no actual replay value outside of orb hunts. This game rocks when you just get to blow shit up, so why no real multiplayer options?

Crackdown is about imagination. Crackdown is only as fun as the player makes it.

No offense, but I think that's bullshit, especially when it costs me $65. This game has the basis for a shitload of gameplay, but the final product has nowhere near enough content to realize its own potential. Using my own imagination? I could've easily done that in the free demo, which, sadly, covers a significantly higher percentage of the final game than one would imagine.

Even from an imaginative standpoint, the game is still lacking because its setting, while highly detailed, is largely empty and devoid of interaction. Considering how fun combat can get, there's nowhere near enough of it as-is. Any potential fun to be had with civilians is limited at best, and killing them en-mass is of little consequence, so forget about any epic street battles with the law. Driving is an inferior means of transporation until you max it out, which is a pain in the ass because you apparently can't drive as well as most teenagers and races generally suck.

Frankly, I'm convinced Crackdown was pushed out early to cash in on the Halo 3 beta. Unfortunate, considering MS would've easily had a hit if they'd waited another few months and given the game more long-term viability. Hopefully it sells enough to warrant a sequel, 'cause I really, really wanted to like this game.

^ Damn. If I would've checked here first, I wouldn't have bought it.

Does the demo really cover a LOT of the game content? That sucks ass...

Percentage-wise, the demo covers maybe 20% of the full game, going by how many bosses you can kill. Unfortunately, the final version offers little beyond what you see on the west island. There are maybe 6~7 additional weapons (although the rocket launchers are quite fun), so hopefully that's not important to you. New vehicles don't mean much 'cause driving sucks (thankfully you never actually need it, lol) and only the Agency vehicles offer unique abilities at max level.

Otherwise, the final version doesn't include any new sidequests, mini-games, or real multiplayer (co-op can be fun but seems half-assed compared to most 360 titles). Its main offering over the demo is more areas for jumping and climbing. That in and of itself is quite fun, especially in the last area, but is it really worth full price? This is the question you should ask yourself, and if the answer's "no", then you should, at best, rent it. I'm a big fan of sandbox games, but I strongly disagree with Hunter because Crackdown includes considerably less content and interaction than its peers.

Crackdown is a $60 tech demo, for reasons I've already mentioned. LP's singleplayer is garbage and the controls can be frustrating; whether you're on foot or in a mech, you will handle like a clumsy bitch who's recovering from a frat party. The stun system is also pretty gay. Just one explosion will send you reeling, making you an easy recipient of a rocket to the face. That being said, if you can avoid these problems, multiplayer is quite fun. Mech-on-mech action never gets old, especially with some of the best explosions and smoke effects we've ever seen in gaming. Moving may be a bitch, but God almighty it's pretty. Plus, they're releasing some new maps in March.

Long story short, get the game that will last more than 3~4 days. 'cause honestly, is jumping from rooftop to rooftop really better than dispensing hot robot laser justice?

Anyone up to play crackdown later today at around 4 or 5 pm pst? I'll probably be home from work a while before that but me and my daughter are going to go have dinner with my mom. Everytime I try to play that game with someone they're allready in a game. Ive only played it for like an hour or two and I want to play some co-op now.

Yeah, I bought Crack Tuesday and I'm already disinterested in it. Given it's a fun game, but as has been said before it's shallow. Plus I've never been into the "sandbox" genre. If it weren't for the Halo 3 Beta, I would've never even considered buying this game. The day the Beta ends, I'm trading the game in (hopefullly when that happens, the game's resale value won't plummet).

Question:

Has anyone in this thread had their 360 "brick" on them yet? If so, how many times and how was your experience with MS customer service?

Crackdown isnt a bad game but doesnt have a whole lot to it. Getting to level up stats is cool but there seems to be a rather broad difference between how many skills you get for punching someone and how much you get for a grenade. I have used explosives and guns twice as much as any strength ability yet my strength is already maxed out. That and I cant figure out how to get this Volk fucker out of his building.

The halo demo is the main reason I am leaning towards crackdown. I would be 100% on LP if it wasn't for the halo beta. I can probably get crackdown used.

If you're looking to get Crackdown for the Beta, your patience may work against you. The Beta is only attached to the initial shipments of Crackdown, which means it is very much limited edition. Add to the fact that you need the disc in your system in order to actually play the Beta and you've got a situation were you may not find a Beta enabled copy of the game used until after the Beta's finished.

Okay, the whole red light issue making me VERY nervous:

http://www.joystiq.com/2007/02/22/owner-of-seven-failed-xbox-360s-speaks-out/2#comments

I made a decision to buy an 11 month old 360 off a friend about 2 weeks ago. He sold it to me as a premium bundle for 300 bucks along with an extra wireless controller and Gears of War -- a deal I figured was too good to pass up.

Unfortunately, he didn't purchase the extended warranty with the system and the year long warranty is just about to end. He gave the system to me with the reciept. Anyone got any ideas on how I can get warranty coverage for this thing, if possible?

*edit*

Anyone get NBA Street: Homecourt yesterday?

-Kimosabae

The base warrenty is a year, so you're covered for another month.

Call 8004myxbox and ask about getting an extended warranty.

Crackdown a tech demo? Thos graphics wouldn't even be considered impressive on the Dreamcast.

As for LP, I loved the single player. It's not a game that's built around good AI (like Gears for examples whose AI ain't all that neway). The enemies are just "there" to be mowed down.

It's all about the boss fights which range from jaw dropping to incredible.

Multiplayer is like a big toy box: 16 guys running around, buildings to scale, stages to explore, and tons mechs to jump in and wreak havoc. Great fun that adds to an already great game.

Crackdown below Dreamcast standards? Come on, that's just idiotic. It may not be jaw-dropping like Gears, but it's still quite impressive from a technical standpoint. Good textures, nice effects, and an amazing draw distance.

LP's boss battles are a joke. Initially they seem epic.....until you realize they're nothing more than repetition and exploitation. Some of the giant Akrid fights are fun, but all the VS bosses are pathetic. They're only made difficult thanks to band-aid solutions and lazy game design, meant to hide their obvious shortcomings and horrible AI. The final battle is especially guilty of this, as it randomly turns into a Gundam-wannabe with terrible controls. They're just as simplistic and pedestrian as every other mid-tier action game's. Hell, most of the difficulty is derived from your own mech's sluggish controls and the lack of a first person perspective when not on foot.

Overall, LP's singleplayer was rushed, and it shows. The game was meant to be this epic space opera, in which the mighty Wayne, heir to your father's legacy of Awesome, saves humanity and gets the girl with the double D's. Unfortunately, they didn't have the time or money to implement something more than "OMG Snow Pirates FTW!", and that's why the plot and level pacing make NO FUCKING SENSE!!!

cheh,

How would anyone here describe the 3rd person controls of Oblivion? I should've tried it out when I had the chance....I only watched as a friend played a bit of it several months ago. Anyway, everything about the game intrigues me, but I tend to prefer 3rd person view over 1st. If it's even halfway decent in 3rd, I might get that.

I still don't understand the hate on cel-shaded visuals. Crackdown looks fantastic, imo. It's exactly like what it should be....what they were aiming for; a comic book-ish world where the player gets to act out the role of a super-cop. "regular" polygons for that would've been boring as hell, visually.

For the record, I've played games both competitively AND as a tester, so I naturally look for flaws and other shit to criticize. Never again will I be able to sit down and simply enjoy gaming, free of cynicism or negativity. Truly, ignorance is bliss.

From my limited time using the 3rd person camera in Oblivion, it's kinda half-assed but can still work. Keep in mind that the game was only designed to be played from the 1st person, so more often than not, 3rd feels just like 1st but with a different camera angle, and that angle isn't always ideal. Frankly, it's not really something that will impact whether or not you enjoy Oblivion to begin with. It's more of a "whatever" feature with little relevance to gameplay.

Now that's some sagacious musing. I've never been a tester, but playing games competitively has definitely ruined my ability to play others casually. I now truly believe that videogames are generally a waste of time, unless there's competitive potential within a specific title.

The more I play Crackdown, the worse it gets.

-Driving is poorly implemented and a bitch to level up. Running over people takes too long. Races are needlessly difficult and poorly designed. The majority of stunts require either the relocation of a ramp truck or a level 4 SUV; quite a few actually require both, which is retarded because there aren't too many races, so I'm stuck for hours getting to level 4, just so I can access something I need to get to level 4 in the first place.

-Weapon balance sucks. Once you hit level 3 firearms, why bother with anything besides the machine gun? It's even moderately accurate from long distance at level 2, and you can get it from Los Muertos within 5 minutes of starting a new game. All the other automatic weapons do way less damage. Also, the second sniper rifle seems redundant. Sure, it kills in one hit, but the other one kills in two and carries 25 rounds. That's 12.5 kills vs 11, and roughly 1 in 5 shots will hit their head anyway. Zoom function is practically useless with any weapon.

-Bad hit detection for using vehicles and picking up large objects. Most of the time, this happens because the vehicle or object is on a slanted surface, like a staircase. But sometimes, you simply cannot pick it up. The game just won't let you.

-Speaking of hit detection, why do I randomly attempt heel stomps against standing opponents?

-BUGS!!! These are especially common in the Shai-Gen area. When racing, you'll occasionally collide with an invisible car or obstacle in the middle of the road. Also, after you beat the game, try killing some civilians on the north island with crimes turned off. The Shai-Gen get mad at you....even though they're nowhere to be found. Also, your wanted meter doesn't appear to go down, and when you respawn at the Agency after killing a ton of civies or peacekeepers, they'll still try to kill you even if your meter is gone. Finally, cop cars have all kinds of AI issues.

Overall, I'd say this game was 80~85% done when they pushed it out the door. I guess it's my fault for jumping the gun and getting ripped off.

Acouple things that do bother me about the game

Some of the skills such as driving, good I hate driving.

The fact that the games idea of AI is to throw as many badguys at you as the screen can fill. They really have no intellegence to speak of but they make up for it in sheer numbers. In the Shai-Gen area this especially becomes a problem.

The controls seemed halfassed, they dont seem very responsive and I cant count the no of times I feel to my death because my guy just didnt grab the rail/ceiling/window for no apparant reason.

It still isnt a bad game but it could have been alot better.

All I do is run around with the machine gun that has the 800 rounds in it and the rocket or grenade launcher.

The fact that I paid $65 for a game that got old after 3 days.

crackdown was fuckin fresh with coop, play that shit with friends for 9 hours straight and still say that load of crap you just put on here.

Already gave co-op a serious try. Aside from making gang-busting go twice as fast, it provides a great custom solution to stunts: get in car, and just have your partner throw you through the ring! Otherwise, it's practically identical to singleplayer and retains the same strengths and weaknesses. Adding one more person isn't an adequate substitute for competitive multiplayer if you're both going through an experience similar to what you get on your own.

This wouldn't be a bad thing if singleplayer still offered tons of shit to do, but it doesn't. Like I've said all along, what's there is good (not counting driving of course). It's just not enough to justify paying full price for such a blatantly unfinished game. Any potential innovations derived from co-op are severely hampered by the limited means of interacting with Pacific City as an environment. Considering this genre relies on environmental interaction for replay value, Crackdown can only be seen as a major disappointment.

what the fuck its like critics and people like that fuckin nitpick REDUNDANT shit to the point where i dont even TRY the game myself. holy fuck.

So this means my opinion has a tangible impact on your gaming habits? I'm honored!

I did. It's good, unfortunately, my preference for the original game makes it hard for me to truly enjoy Homecourt. The original games' Gamebreaker system was the most skill based, so I find it the most fun.

I have a number of issues with Homecourt thus far:

*Double dunks are way too exploitable: Simply get the timing down for one dunk and there's your bread n' butter right there.

*Defense is WAAY easier: Blocking shots with fucking Kirk Heinrich is as easy as just pressing the jump button. Hardly matters how late you are.

*Anyone can dunk: Past Streets put a low rated dunker on his ass if he attempted anything outside a basic dunk. Now, even Steve Nash owns the sky.

*Big men are useless: Now, with every character having the ability to attack the rim and block shots how they see fit, Ben Wallace is just clogs the lane. On top of that, I don't think there's a strength rating anymore (someone correct me if I'm wrong), so when Tony Parker takes to the sky, there's a good chance he can put Ben on his ass.

*Outside game is nearly nonexistant: Because of the ease of blocking shots, 2 pointers are regulated to fast break opportunities.

I haven't played it a whole lot (I played the demo more than the actual game), so I'll post things I like after I have more time with it. Those are just the things that are glaringly annoying to me right now. If anyone wants to play, my tag is SynikaL2k4.

haha SRK is priceless.

Anyway me and a friend of mine found a Co-op glitch in crackdown that is both useless and fun!

Glitch: Get Stuck in Walls!

How to do it: Park any car by the wall or barrier of your choice and have one person get in the driver side and make sure the driver side is by the wall you want to h4x. Then simply have the 2nd player get in on the driver's side to throw the first player through the wall.

Pretty easy bug if you ask me, too bad you can't do anything with it, kind of reminds me of the wall stick bug in the first driver game.

Anyway to get out just have someone drive a car by the wall and then just hop in, might take a bunch of mashes of Y but it usually works, or you can just kill yourself in the wall.

The weirdest part is that the person in the wall can see out and the game doesn't get buggy which is pretty cool I guess.

1) No legends, NBA Street characters....instead we get WNBA players....
2) Multiplayer options suck; 3 vs 3 in the game, but 1 on 1 in real life. I much rather have 6 people playing 6 peoples, or at least 2 on 2
3) Not everyone can dunk in the game, Mike James has a 1 in dunks and can't get up; all he does is layups.
4) Shooting > Dunking, but you need to know how to do it.
5) I'm glad that GB are back to EARNING your points, I hated it in v3

Where do you find the rating for the players?

4) Shooting > Dunking, but you need to know how to do it.

How can "shooting > dunking" when you can get the same amount of points more consistantly and with less risk with a double dunk than from a shot beyond the arc (which is likely to get slapped by Kirk Heinrich if he's anywhere in front of you)?

Shooters seem to hit more often in Homecourt, but the ball has to get near the rim for that to happen. I don't see how you can consistantly work shooting into your game outside of fastbreaks.

No it didnt, Volume one relied on two things defensively,

1. The NBA Live defense which consist of you missing lots of random dunks, layups for no apparant reason.

2. Cheap bullshit, cant count the no of times someone like Starbury would magically fly from the 3 point line to block a shot.

The Comp AI in Vol 1 was shotty at best but was still fun.

Who cares about the AI?

The original game did more with less. Gamebreaker system was simple and effective. Stop the easy dunk for the two point swing, or anticipate the 2 and get a rewarding GB block with strict timing.

Defense actually required anticipation and the game's generally simple nature made it more mindgame oriented. The original even let you work a reasonable outside game. That's been sorely missed ever since, IMO.

The original was just simple, arcade natured fun and was skill based just enough for me, my friends and family to go to blows over it.

I hate the NBA Jam type bullshit shoving in HC. They give you all these options to take the ball away from people, and they make scoring a pain in the ass. It's feels more like a dunk show than an actual street pickup game.

The NBA live def that you claim happens in the game never happens to me. The blocking in Volume one required much more skill when compared to the other games. Shit, having a big man on your team in volume 1 actually meant something. AI I don't care about because I play the game for vs play. Vs play really shows how much more skill Volume 1 requires in comparision to the other games. All the games after vol 1 require no strategy at all. You can pick a team of all guards and still dominate people down low. That shit does not happen in vol 1. In vol 1 if there is a size mismatch you can take advantage of it.

Vol. 2 was the best. '96 Jordan + Kobe + Shaq = UNSTOPPABLE

First let me start out by saying I don't like basketball as a sport, or in a videogame format.

But I love NBA Homecourt. The game is ridiculously fun, The NBA Jam series was the only basketball game I ever liked and this one reminds me so much of it.

Getting a GB, maxing it to +4 and doing a fucking triple dunk to score 7 points is too fucking awesome.

I liked vol.2 the best. I liked the use of legends. after part 2, it turned into "the dirtiest player wins" and shit.

I'm seriously like 3 steps away from getting rid of my 360. Every good game is too short, I'm not really into playing with people I don't know, and nothing feels "next-gen". Is there anything coming out that'll convince me to keep it?

EDIT: NBA Street tier list

Vol. 2
Homecourt

I traded in my craping out 360 today for a new one, and gears and dead rising run so quietly and smoothly, thank god, i forgotten how it was like lol. lets hope it lasts ^_^.

It's only going to get better and better. There's no point selling it.

GTA4 alone is a reason I'm not selling mine.

Yeah but why not pay 200$ more to play it on PS3?

That way you won't have to deal with an annoying rumble everytime you shoot a gun.

Yeah fuck rumble. Rumble is a *last* generation feature. This generation has features that are way better --like inflated prices.

I tried out the Def Jam Icon demo...it was not really a good first impression. The control seems only barely responsive...like the player's input and button commands are only SUGGESTIONS that characters think about...and sometimes they say "eh, nah...I don't feel like doing that, dawg. Push some other buttons, shit. Yeah yeah mayne."

It's quite a half ass demo as well....I thought we should expect more out of a demo in this generation. That was about as limited as the Toshinden demo in 1995 on a launch playstation. Ridiculous.

*I also don't care about a rumble feature. The only game to use it in an interesting way was the first Metal Gear Solid.

I am still hoping for Capcom's old Alien vs Predator arcade beat'em up myself, but due to licensing problems, I doubt it will ever happen.

At least we have zi Turtles.

So it's for real then!? This is great news.....I'd also want AvP arcade...because I never played it. I had the "foolish kid" line of thinking on that one: "eh, it will always be around...I'll get to that game later." I had no idea that arcades in general would just die one day. (I have not been to an arcade in many years now....haven't even seen one.)

We need Simpsons too. It was the only good Simpsons game back then anyway.

Oh fuck yes. Any word on release date?

Speaking of Turtles, the new game looks interesting. Almost like Ninja Gaiden for kids. If they give the option of a more challenging difficulty for hardcore players, I'd be all over that shit.

Just recently picked up PDZ cuz it's hella cheap. Why was there so much hate for the game? Outside of the shitty story, I'm enjoying it.

I'm trying to find out if some of these release dates have changed or not. On the ebgames website, it says alot of these 360 games are supposed to come out March 1st, but some sites are saying TBA.

Can anyone confirm when some of these games are coming out? Huxley, Battlefield Bad Company, Golden Axe, etc.

Heres the link

Golden Axe RPG? WTF??

Seeing as how it's not even on Sega's official web site, I'd say there's no way in hell this is coming any time soon.

Also wanted to add the same site where I got the Turtles leak says Raiden IV is going to be 360 exclusive.

Also Bullet Witch drops tomorrow. Very cool undercore game as I like to put it (not to be confused with undercore music).

.

There's no word on release. Actually, there's no word on the game at all from any mainstream media yet. This shit was leaked in an extremely underground fashion and MS doesn't want you to know about it....yet.

So SRK is one of the few sources that actually knows about it, thanks to me muhaha. But technically we are underground as well.

There was a thread about it on the Xbox Gamespy forums a couple days ago.

Here's a link with screens and a video.

Bullet Witch looks interesting....but as usual....it looks like a game that me and perhaps 4 other people in the world will know about and enjoy. If the game continued on without me knowing it existed, I bet it would blow up into a huge sleeper hit. Once again...my jinx factor kills just about anything...and it's about to claim another victim here...I can feel it. Really though, why so little coverage? I had to get on youtube just to finally see footage of the game yesterday.

Alien Hominid is up on the Arcade today. I already got the trial and played a bit before coming to work. This game gets frustrating rather quickly, as it happens to be one of those "one hit = you're dead" games. I will most likely get the full version later on today. I'm kind of in a spending mood anyway, and I never had the game before.(good thing I never got around to it in the last generation, as it was at least a 39.99 game, if I recall. Here on Live Arcade, it is of course much cheaper) Great character design and overall art style, btw. If it were my IP, I'd at least try to shop the character around for a possible saturday morning tv show or something.

I'm looking forward to figuring out how to get past the 1-2 boss in AH without dying.

EDIT: I forgot you could hop in the cars to avoid him as he swings by. That saved me a few continues.

AH is pretty fun. The art style is growing on me. I somehow got the game for free though. I got an error code while trying to download it. When I went back a couple minutes later to try and download again, XBL had a check next to it, as if I had already done so. It asked me if I wanted to re-download, (despite of course not having downloaded the game in the first place) and I did, all without any microsoft points getting spent. Those extra points will just be going toward Worms or SOTN, whichever comes next.

What the hell?! Stage 1-2 is straight up "time to die every 0.5 seconds" bullshit. You get hit(from all possible directions) and die no matter what, apparently. Who's the asshole who designed that stage? ...and this is only "medium" mode. Fuck, it's easier getting over a million points in Geo Wars. Why put something that's near Battletoads-level insane right at the beginning part of the game like this? That's a douchebag-developer™ move for real.

Not being able to shoot diagonaly certainly doesn't help the situation.

Alien Hominid is the shit. That's actually one of the hardest stages in the game, but it's alot easier when you get in the vehicles and shit.
