...as usual, I'm playing a game that only 5 or 6 people are still caring about, apparently. It's always this way for me.

Anyway, anyone else (all...3 of you?) notice a glitch in Crackdown where gang members just disappear and re-appear? It kept happening in Shai Gen area last night when me and Jae were playing co-op. I wanted to record one segment, but the remote control was gone, and I didn't bother....but the first case of this was funny...I kicked this guy off the top floor of that building next to Wang's(heh) tower...but then he would re-appear, as if he teleported back to his original spot. I'd kick him off again...walk back, then he'd show up again when I ran back to that area. It started happening inside some of the buildings as well. This was an odd glitch to say the least.

I'll go out on a limb and say Metal Gear Solid 4 will be a multiplatform release as well. It's becoming more and more likely to happen at this point. Sony is in trouble if they don't do something soon.

DMC4 on 360 is truly an lol moment. Remember all the people that were saying it couldn't be done on xbox 1.5? Well now it is going to be done and will probably look better too (DMC4 uses the same engine as lost planet, but doesn't look like it is as demanding technically).

Yeah that usually happens after the gang heat gauge gets full. Anyone and anything you kill/destroy will reappear if you turn your back on them.

It's because the game is programed to have random gang members(hit squads) appear around you after you piss them off (fill the hit meter). So they will pop up in front of you as you walk/run around.

The best way to stop this from happening is to kill them all while retreating backwards. That way they won't reappear when you turn around and they won't randomly appear when you walk forward.

They will be behind you though, but there won't be alot of them since your back is turned and they havn't really been triggered to reappear.

It's wierd.

I just finished reading every comment in this whole thread. It took a good while, but I am proud to say that I am finally up to date.

Before I continue ParryAll, Dios and Million, among others, have been super helpful with their reviews and what not. Although you guys sometimes repeat yourselves (Am I the only one who forgot about customization?) you guys helped me make some tough choices. Stuk2k, I just picked up NBA 2k7 --- I owned on ps2 so we will see how I am on the 360 if you are down?

Quick question though, I hooked my iPod to the 360 and not all my songs are showing. I assume I will have to, but do I really have to convert everything to mp3 in order for my 360 to recognize the files. Can someone provide me with a more in depth review of the Phantasy Star Online title? Another idea for returning the broken Xboxs seeing that everyone in retail is being told to tell the customers to call Microsoft... call the store first... talk to a manager... talk to someone... until they crack. Get their name and there you go. A new 360.

review of the Phantasy Star Online titleOh you unleashed a monster here. It should be known by now that I can go on for absurd amounts of time(long past the point of anyone caring anymore) with analysis of PSO and now PSU. Let's see....it's "ok", imo...probably only worth it if you see the game for cheap.
-It's really a ps2 game that was ported, so it definitely doesn't look anywhere near as good as just about any other 360 game. Once again, ps2 has found a way to completely irritate the hell out of me on this...simply by existing.

-Customization and gameplay are definitely a step up from the old PSOs. However, it's still not what I'd call a satisfying customization. Most of the clothes choices you start with look either stupid, gay, or both....and they're also expensive as hell, so online, you'll see a lot of people running around with the cheap outfits anyway....resulting in a lot of people that look the same. Another limiting factor is that you can't change the color of clothes....like say there's red, blue, and green options for a jacket. That's it...you can't change the jacket orange or yellow, or whatever with a color picker. In fact, the only thing that is changeable with a color picker is hair and eyes(which don't mean much since it is rare that anyone sees your character's eyes outside of cut-in chat)

-Gameplay is so far about PSO it's a joke to even compare the two. PSU is much better in that it is closer to something more stylish, like Devil May Cry. This is perhaps the one and only area where PSU truly shines for me. This was definitely a huge plus. Force characters kind of took a hit though, as Ra and simple type spells are more difficult to aim. Still, that may be balanced off by the fact that they got a huge boost in the amount of spells anyway.

-Music --besides the great intro and chapter ending themes....most of PSU's soundtrack is forgettable. This is such a minor issue for any 360 game though, since we have custom soundtracks.

-Story --eh, it's just "ok" for me in terms of offline. The online story is more interesting, as it started off with a successfully intriguing narrative hook(Ethan = a villain now?) that raises all kinds of questions....and it's great for people who simply would rather play their own character instead of Ethan in the first place.

-Updates online --a joke and a scame, basically. There is no true "new content" for this game. Everything is already on the disc, and ST simply "unlocks" it piece by piece, calling this "updates". The main point of critique in every review of the game, from random people to media sources....was that the online portion was pitifully slim early on. Moatoob was locked away, and the Forces were missing MOST of their spells.(Dam and Nosu-series only got unlocked recently!) I waited until at least the first update before subscribing....but now I plan to cancel in the next few days, most likely...for reasons already mentioned earlier.

-Synthing is garbage. So..instead of finding something cool like twin flaming swords(something that is in the game, btw)....I find....a BOARD and have to purchase expensive "synth materials", put it all in my PMachine, wait a few hours...and MAYBE I'll get the cool weapon? Get out of here with that bullshit, Sega.

-There's also the lack of "cool stuff"(rare and UNIQUE looking weapons/armours) to search for, which is something that will be in the expansion release....

-...and that expansion comes out this year apparently....so that's even more of a reason to stop caring about this "Episode 1" PSU....another reason I'm quitting. It's like...why keep playing PSO version 1, if PSO episode 1 and 2 for GC is coming out. That comparison seems to be exactly like the situation here.

My overall score is probably lowered by the last point of the expansion on the horizon....but here it is; I'll say PSU as it stands currently....is about a 6 out of 10....and that's probably being generous. Yeah...more like 5 or 5.5 out of 10.

And in that respect, it's a step backwards: some awkward design choices makes the game even more arcadey than VT 1 and 2. In part 1, if you hardly ever dived, and when you did, you were eating a spike and a 90% chance of GGPO. Now, you can hit it back off a dive and the game keeps going, making obsurdly long games.

This is really the only major knock against the game though. Other than that, this is still classic VT. It's still good.

I don't know which version I saw personally, but in the one I saw they show Jared Leto getting his arm sawwed off, the girl getting fucked, and some other really bad shit, granny trippin.. Dunno if that was edited or the Directors cut.

Sometimes directors cuts suck though. I think I saw the directors cut for Natural Born Killers and it was like unwatchably bad.

The XBLA games that I've downloaded are fine... but only on my gamertag. My brother tried to play Geometry Wars last night and it tells him to unlock the full game by buying it. We worked around it by starting the game on my gamertag, then switched to his while in game, but it'd be annoying if I had to do this all the time. Last I heard, as long as I've got it downloaded on my HDD, any gamertag on my system should be able to play it. Anyone know of anything I can do? Thanks in advance.

I got the game, and I was pleasantly surprised by a couple things:

For whatever reason, the Demo AI is harder than Federor at the end of Tournament Mode. Why Sega decided to do this, I have no clue. I guess they are trying to put off potential buyers of the game. Anyways, working your way up with progressively harder opponents makes it alot easier.

Diving is a noob thing. The better I get, the less I find myself diving for the ball. A dive will 9 times out of ten lead to a top spin or power smash, unless your opponent or AI doesn't know what hes doing. Online play pretty much underscores this. Noobs are diving at every ball and I am bringing the rape so to speak.

Which brings me to my next point, online play is boss. I feel very sorry for PS3 owners, because the online modes are very rich, detailed, and play is virtually lag free. VT.TV is like this new take on spectator mode and it rocks.

Yeah, it is totally worth it. I actually got real lucky with this one... someone actually returned it at my work. OPENED. I took it out and put the box in defectives.... end of story.

On a side note. I think my 360 killed my iPod... I guess I was streaming some tunes earlier and my 360 froze or something... I don't remember exactly... but eitherway I have had the "Do Not Disconnect" display for a good hour. Any ideas?

i bought one at $75 locally and never had a single problem with it. at my apartment the wireless router is basically a room and a half away, works great there. at home the router is on the other side of the house, on a different floor and it works flawlessly. IMO it's expensive for a reason - it's quick, easy and works great.

Buy a wireless adapter online, doesn't have to be the $99 microsoft one. Its not as pretty, but it does the job. For instance, I use this:

It works fine. It took me a little longer to set up, you just have to make sure that if you're using a MAC filter on your router, you have to put in the MAC addresses of both the system and the wireless adapter. I'm not sure if there's anything special you have to do if you're using encryption though. This one works for me, only downside is it uses another plug (no USB power). I can't complain though, since its about 1/5th the price of the official one.

Yeah, I was reading about the XBox 360 Elite today...black case, 120 gig hdd, better quality internal cooling, and HDMI outputs. Won't mean shit for me right now, but next superbowl I plan on finally getting a new TV, and I'm trying to figure out if the extra hdd space, black case/controller/headset, and HDMI inputs justify a 80 buck increase (cost 479)

And yeah, I'm still planning on getting one, but I have to push it back, my car needs a ton of maintenance work as well as the new tires, and I've got some other shit coming up that involve quitting my job that I want to be prepared for *even a perfectly timed transition will elave you without pay for a couple weeks*. Still trying to find some more games for it though...R6...luminees...HF...*silence*...Dead Rising...*cricket chirp*. If you dont' do sports or racing games or realistic FPS - its a very bad time as a gamer.

HDMI is great. I like it cause its a lot "cleaner", i.e. one cable for both Audio and Video. Its really a matter of preference, as you'll see that a lot of people say that HDMI provides a crisper image, but Component has better colors.

So, I'm just about ready to give up on the damn footraces at the Agency Tower in Crackdown. If those aren't actually impossible...they're very close to it. I've spent a little more than the past hour just trying to do one of them. This is about 100000x more difficult than anything else in the game, imo. Sorry, no, not possible. If anyone made that claim I would not be able to keep silent on the issue, and call them out on it. Unlike all other foot races, you wouldn't know where the damn markers are on your "first try"....rendering it completely impossible to do successfully on the first attempt.

If you guys have a memory card like me, your straight, your can move your games saves, your gamer profile , which i take wherever my friend has a 360 at, so i can go line with it if need be, play arcade games over there which I own, not him, and we both get achievements while there, and everything else you need. episodes and content you bought online can all be transfered over with your gamer profie, which you can move around with a memory card, moved, not copied, so if you put it on your memory card, thats where it goes, until you find another 360 host to load it up and keep it there, until your ready to put it back in the memory card and back to your 360, wherever you want to keep it.

so yeah, memory card solves all problems, just store your game saves, and profile there, and your set. episodes you bought online, pics, themes and map pakcs, are all linked to your gamer profile, so when you sign on live to your shiny new black 360, re download your paid for content and get to playing again.

On Red Octane's site, you get free shipping, no tax (if you're not in whatever state they're in) and a free dual gig bag. So I went ahead and ordered the bundle with two guitars. i can barely tell the difference in graphics since i have an old school 27 inch tv, but there are literally no load times. there's still the "walk through this little room while the game loads" areas but they're only there for aesthetic reasons.

considering it's probably one of the best games ever (according to myself and many others) and only $10 i would say it's worth it. but then again i'd much rather play things on my tv than on a portable system.

I hate how when I pull up my gamerscore, demos of games I downloaded show up with zero gold. They need to fix that so once you delete the game it's gone forever.

I have 5 games and two of them are shooters (Lost Planet and Gears of War), the others aren't (Dead Rising, VT3, ChromeHounds). All the big games for the next few months aren't shooters (cept Halo of course). Blue Dragon, Forza 2, Guitar Hero 2, Virtua Fighter 5, DMC4, Mass Effect, etc.

Not to mention Gears and LP aren't exactly your typical run of the mill 1st person shooters. Gears plays more like Resident Evil 4 and Kill Switch than Halo. LP is like a 3d Bionic Commando crossed with Gundam or something.

SOTN has some pretty weird glitches/bugs as far as the leaderboards are concerned. I played through with Richter, beat both castles in about 16 minutes or so. The game thought I had discovered 92%. I am now 5th on the leaderboard for Time/Exploration.

Thinking this odd, I started over, went even faster through the game as Richter, but only netted 25%-35% of the castle. Apparently I also met Maria in 0:37 or something silly after doing this. Wtf.

So, I got Front Flipper and Hazardous Hangtime all on one jump...it was from one of the Shai Gen towers...the 2nd tallest one where you fight the black guy. I'll keep doing this, as it gives a LOT of driving points.(still need to fill up the progress meter for Master Agent achievement) On another note....the SUV took a surprisingly small amount of damage from that jump. I think I prefer it to the Supercar now.

that was some hellified compression, if I do say so myself...the original file was 25mb or so. Anyway, driving becomes 10x more fun once that skill is maxed. Supercar basically becomes the Batmobile from 1989 Batman....and the SUV's jumping is incredible and useful. It is only a matter of time now before I reach Master Agent status.

It makes little difference when a game leaves the xbox 360 and goes to the ps3. Reason being the xbox 360 is 1 year older than the ps3, so its a given that games would goto other systems.... where the ps3 is still new and games that have been annouced to be exclusive shouldn't be released before or at the same time that it is being released on the ps3 as well as the other systems.

In this case, losing Dmc4 to the Xbox 360, and completely losing a playstation only game for years to Xbox 360 is a big blow. Hell, how many ps3 only games are now hitting the xbox 360?

All I need is my damned tekken on the xbox 360 and maybe final fantasy :)

You need to listen to that podcast again and then think about that you said. Nothing was said about Xbox exclusive games, only games that were previously released. DMC and Ace Combat are Playstation titles, and losing them is blow. Losing something like, dead rising isn't a big deal.

200.4% in SoTN with 1888 rooms explored. This is including Dracula's room under the clock room since I warped out. I read the total number of rooms is 1890. I've scanned through my map and I still can't find any missing room. I'll go through it again later/

Earth Defense Force 2017 is mine now....I highly recommend it. One thing that is particularly well done is the sense of scale. Everything you fight gives the perfect impression of something huge and threatening. I especially enjoy fighting the "Walking Arms", aka "Hectors". The mech you can pilot has great firepower, but it's so horribly slow in terms of movement....it's barely even worth it. I finally died on the first encounter against the walking fortress. I'm taking a break for now.

It's also a "budget" title apparently, at only 40 bucks. This one snuck under the radar....I have seen no commercials or anything for it. The Xplay episode from a few days ago was the first I even heard about the game.

hmm...Crackdown + Earth Defense Force's enemies = possibly the greatest game of all time. Those 2 games would be one hell of a mix.

The wolf form is behind the elevator door if I remember correctly. You need to hit the switch to activate the elevator which is in the castle outer walls.

And youl'll need the form of mist to reach the bat form which is at the bottom of the long library behind the mist gates.

It was the system seller for me. I had a 360 before from my sandy spring's incident, but I sold it for extra rent money cause I didn't have shit to play on it. Then ultimate alliance came out and I bought the 360 and that game just to play with my friends. Me and my roommate went thru the X-men legend games hard fucking core so Ultimate Alliance was a must. Shit was basically tradition. Him and me play as many co-op games as possible and this was just an extention of that. At the time, he lived like an hour awayso I copped the xbox 360 when it came out so we could play. I got my 360 in a sick trade and I don't regret it at all. The next game we're all really hyped up for is Ace Combat 6 just cause we all love the Ace COmbat series and Top Gun. As soon as that game drops 12 of my friends are getting a 360 so we can play together.

I actually think that's the best thing about the system. All my friends that come out of the woodwork to play online games and share a fun ass experience is the best thing about this system. And it's an even more fun experience when you're part of a forum like this cause you guys can all play together. I wouldn't have even bought the 360 if it didn't give me so many different options in terms of playing games with my friends.

I'm now on level 20something....and there are 53 levels! There are 150 weapons if I recall. Heh, and some people on the gamefaqs board are throwing around the usual critique they say of EVERY goddamn game for this and last generation: "It's too short." Damn it, people....does a game have to last for 30 years for you to find it enjoyable? 53 levels of multiple difficulties(some levels even on "Normal" are pure hell, btw.) is NOT short.

yeah it is 130 bones, and the other stuff is only 4 extra dvds of behind the scenes stuff and you also get a master chief helmet which is useless because you can't wear it :sad:

I got the digging dirt achievement. It's pretty easy if you follow my strategy. Keep 2 guys alive, turn pump x 3, dig rinse and repeat.

Got a question! A while ago me and my friend brought both are 360s to hook them together(network cable) to do some system link Gears of war. For some reason system link didnt work, no one could join or even see the game that was made, yet when we put in Halo 2 for system link that worked perfectly. I dont understand....Do i need something special or have to do something for Gears? Cant always play with the Chief.

What were you trying to play in gears? co op campaign or deathmatch? As far as i know, each team has to have at least 3 on 3 on each side, at least, online thats how it is in ranked matches, but seeing as this is player match offline, i dont see why it shouldnt work.

A couple of hours ago, Christian Svensson (a.k.a. Sven) over at the Capcom official boards made a statement in light of Capcom's move to turn Devil May Cry 4 into a multi-platform game.

Sven said that the company felt that allowing DMC4 to be reached by more people outside the PlayStation 3 (PS3) "pleases far more people than it displeases," and that the decision was made in the best interest of Capcom and the players.

And while this statement is still drawing all sorts of reactions like the recent online petition, Capcom forum member Westell Westell quizzed Sven to help clarify matters regarding the company's plans:


What I am wondering, is since Capcom has claimed "Capcom is committed to making its titles available to as wide an audience as possible," does that mean Capcom will be making games that were exclusive to the Xbox 360 cross platform as they did with Devil May Cry or is that quote from Capcom more of just a PR man doing their job? The answer is Dead Rising and Lost Planet are not slated to appear on Wii or PS3 as far as current plans go. The reasons for this are quite convoluted and I'm bound by NDAs on these matters so I can't divulge why this is the situation.

The quote delivered above references our strategy moving forward, not something that is necessarily retroactive. You can see evidence of this with our previously stated RE5 plans going to 360 and PS3 simultaneously.



While (PS3) and Wii owners may feel a sting in Sven's statement that there is no planned releases of Lost Planet or Dead Rising for their consoles, the "current plans" clause does open up speculation on what lies in the near future. For now, just await further details at the upcoming Capcom Day this April 12.

Reviews for Armored Core games have ALWAYS been bad with the exception of AC2(it was the only decent PS2 Launch title). AC4 is actually pretty decent-to-pretty good and way better when compared to earlier titles in the series. For me it's a definite must buy but I'm a little broke right now and I'm waiting to get paid before I spring for AC4. If you're wondering why I'm defending a game I don't own yet, bear with me, I've been playing AC competitively for a good number of years now and we(the AC tournament scene) are finally grateful for a good AC game that will get(hopefully) a lot of online play so more people will show to our majors.

^hopefully some drastic changes took place, but when I played Saint's Row online, it was the most lagged out glitchy piece of shit I have ever played online. This is a stark contrast to the offline game, which imo is amazing. Online Saint's Row, at least when I tried it...was maybe a 3 out of 10. The disparity is incredible...it's like 2 different games, one of which sucks tremendous ass.

The whole time...I was seeing cars float down the street, people lag-teleporting all over the place, walking on air, driving through walls, etc. etc. At one point, I was stuck inside the car in a garage, while I was elsewhere on the map. haha...it's just stupid. It's such a mess it becomes funny.

Yep. Those people love consoles, not games. They're just mad because they got some "argument-ammunition" taken away from them in their little console wars forums. I don't see what's wrong with Capcom letting everyone enjoy the game now. It's not like they're cancelling the PS3 version.

I remember when my precious Viewtiful Joe franchise went multiplatform. I was happy about that, as it meant more people who get to experience the greatness. Too bad all hope for a continuation of the series is gone now....but that's getting into another topic. Anyway, I'd think they would enjoy this in the same way I did with VJ, as it means more people get to appreciate the DMC franchise, thus ensuring it will be around for a long time to come.

Its nice that they added HDMI, but its not needed, the output isn't any better than the component output you get now. VGA>HDMI anyday.

I think it wont be a top seller, if HD DVD was going well then I would vouch for it, but since I think Blu-Ray is kicking its ass *not too sure*, I think that M$ is showing the "digital" people some love. I think we all will need a bigger HDD very soon though, with Oblivion expansion coming in at a gig....that leave 7 left on the old 20 gig with NOTHING on it.... :/

Well, reasons I'm sure it's dead:

-Viewtiful Joe: Red Hot Rumble was a huge disappointment to myself and many fans of the series. It should've been a shameless XCOPY of Smash Bros., but they decided to be different, and the result was a complete disaster. Sometimes being different is not a good thing.

-Isn't "Clover" studios dead now? Or at least...disbanded?

-There has been NO talk of this franchise since Red Hot Rumble and that piss poor excuse for a cartoon show that was cancelled. NO buzz about the viewtiful universe at all. Most people probably forgot the game and characters even existed by now.

-Capcom has MANY other franchises that bring in the money....I would take a wild guess and say Viewtiful Joe is not anywhere even close to being a priority, with big names like Resident Evil and the many versions of Megaman out there.

-I liked it(part 1 and part 2, at least). That's enough right to kill nearly any game's hope for a future.
