shit is getting crazy.

background:
so i've been seeing this girl for almost a month and last night she stayed over for the 1st time :wgrin: . this morning though I woke up early, and being in a good mood I decided to make breakfast for the house (5 roomies). she wakes up comes to the kitchen and asks if she can help with chopping or whatever. I tell her i've done it all but she could help me make some eggs.

she musta given me some look as if I was speaking Hindi instead of english.
Her: -_____-
Her: err.. I umm.. don't know how
Me: wtf o_0
Me: how do you not know how to.... nevermind i can do it.

I don't get that shit at all. at the very least everyone should be able cook eggs. This ain't 1st time i've gone through this either some chicks seem to think being good looking is enough. others only know how to make Mac 'n Cheese <_< . i'm black, I don't eat that shit. :annoy:

anyone else noticed this?

It's not like you can't learn how to cook from being on the internet. There are a MILLION resources out there. Just a LOT of women are too fucking lazy to use them.

I learned how to cook from doing THREE things:
Watching my grandma (who is Puerto Rican) and my Stepmother (who is Sicilian) cook, and asked questions, and helped. You learn a lot from your elders.

I watched Food network. From ages 14 - 17 I watched almost nonstop food network. I can explain to you how EXACTLY to make the perfect Angel Food Cake, to making good steak and eggs (which is my pride and joy, I *love* steak and eggs)..

I fucking looked recipes up on the internet. The best website for recipes and learning how to do things is epicurious.com .. almost every recipe i have has come from that site, and i have modified things a bit here and there.. but shit, what a great resource.

Just bitches are lazy now, and they think it's unimportant to learn how to cook. Then they will complain when they get fat.. if you know how to cook you know what goes IN to what you are making, and you also have more respect for your food so you might take your time eating it you fat ass cow.

If you haven't been able to tell, I hate bitches who can't cook!!:annoy: :annoy:

Alton Brown is not only a great chef, but in 30 minutes he teaches you not only about cooking, but about technique, and the science behind what you are cooking.

I can do Alton Brown no justice.. he is just.. that damn good.

He can even teach you what section of the cow produces what beef, and what meat you should use for what, and what to look for when PICKING meat.

Um.. it's two ceramic gardening pots, a metal rack, wood, and a heat source..

I loved that episode. Once it gets a little warmer outside I'm gonna try it.

It's just not something that mothers teach their daughters much of anymore, that's how I see it. But I'm thankful that I don't have that problem - my wife cooks everything and it's fucking excellent food too. Shit, sometimes she makes these 4-5 side breakfasts that I can't even finish. I'm talking waffles, scambled eggs, sausage and bacon, potatos with OJ and milk.

Dinners are pretty crazy too. Especially her pork chops.

blame american women being spoiled materialistic bitches who just know how to wear short skirts and act ditzy.

blame femnism for saying that cooking is degrading to women or w/e bullshit they spout.

i'd say go asian. i've yet to meet one who did not know how to cook well. however, i'm sure in cali where they are superficial valley girls, this would no longer hold true. however there are plenty of asian girls who are great at cooking and love cooking meals for guys.

You have to understand that not every girl is not going to know how to cook. And to think about it would you want them too? It'll probably taste nasty. I should know my aunt's cooking is not that spectacular. Fuck, might as well cook for youself.

Oh and I know how to cook my mom and grandma taught me.

yeah, this has become a real problem in the past couple of generations. Part of it is laziness, and part of it does seem to come from a feminist angle, where they want to escape the whole "woman in the kitchen" thing....as if the "housewife" role is degrading or makes them less of a person...whatever, that's bullshit, and anyone with common sense would realize that. Then again, a lot of them don't seem to have common sense regarding many things in life, but that's starting to lead off onto my usual bitter commentary.

It doesn't take much to learn cooking, ladies. We have the greatness that is Food Network now....so the tv can teach you.

Date girls over the age or 7 and you wont have a problem. Just joking. I find that if a girl was raised by a stay at home mom who cooked and did everthing for her they tend not to know how to do anything themselves. This forces the kid of said tool to learn the art of cooking and homemaking on their own and then treating their kids so well that these new kids dont know how to do shit. So it seems to skip a generation. Want my advice? Date her mom or wait till her kid is old enough to receive your attention.

The thing with me is that I know how to cook, but I never want to because everytime I get the urge to cook and make myself a dinner my mother goes *gasp* "I never knew you actually learned when I was showing you how to cook?! Tomorrow make me full course dinner blah..blah..blah..."

Then I have to pretend to suck for another week so that she finally dismisses my '"lucky" self-made dinner as an act of god and thanks heaven that I didn't burn the house down. This cycle has been going on for 4 years.

I remember when I first discovered Good Eats and he showed me the elegance of making a good baked potato I was hooked (still something I always eat). I watched the show religiously.

...then I really started paying attention and found this guy to simply be insane. While the show is still interesting (the non-cooking, informational stuff is great), all the unnecessary steps he takes when he actually cooks are retarded. I've literally grown up watching cooking shows (I was watching Frugal Gourmet, Yan Can Cook, Julia Child, and all that shit WAAAAAY back in the day) and I never see any of these chefs even come close to this guy's attention to detail.

A better show in the same vein is America's Test Kitchen (comes on public access). They usually focus on 1-2 meals per show and it's often stuff that you would want to make yourself (like really good macaroni and cheese). They also do product reviews of hardware and different foods and let you know the best stuff to have. Very informative show if you actually want to do some cooking.

Geez, it was just a joke.

But I was just trying to point out guys (and basicly everybody) need to know how to cook too. All my uncle eats is frozen foods and my grandma stayed at home most of the time when he was young. Cooking is cheeper, you dont have to wait, and you dont have to pay for food that could be nasty or have no benefiting nutrients.

I dont cook much now because I dorm but sometimes I wish I had my own personal kitchen when I'm away at school. My dorm does have a kitching but the nasty bitches that use them dont clean up the sinks and stoves after they're done and it's roached infested and fucking nasty. ( Next to cooking a person should know how to clean up after cooking and cleaning in general.)

Therefore I'm forced to eat the fucking cafetera food that's getting me fatter and probably clogging my arteries slowly. I think next year I'm going to smuggle in a damn George Forman and buy my own food.

And this epidemic of broads not cooking is worse than we're letting on. Fuzzy-Brows is right, how the holy hell can't you make eggs? Making eggs isn't even indicative of knowing how to cook, it's like part of being a fucking human being! I'm not asking you to make me a velvety hollandaise or creme brulee, just some scrambled eggs. I can't imagine looking at an egg like it's some kind of nuclear bomb and wondering how exactly to go about getting into it.

I think it's more than just mere laziness on the part of these ladies; this is more of a big FUCK YOU to American stereotypes and proclaiming themselves to be indivudals and breaking from the mold. I have to kill your spiders, change your tire, AND cook your dinner now? Shiiiiiiiiiit.

This is why I take cookin class at school so if I ever do get with a girl like this I'll be prepared and so I don't have to worry about wasting money on fastfood when I move out of my family's place.

Oh and also on topic I think the other reason is there's not really that many cooking classes nowadays.

Most of Amercia decided to drop out home ec as an elective for HS and middle school.

IDK about college, but if they didn't do this we'd be having more females who know how to cook. I'm happy my school still has cooking class in it, It's rare to find any HS or middle schools that still do.

HAIL ALTON. Best show ever for entertainment and fuctionality. Plus listening to that shit makes you feel smart.

If any of you fuckers want to get ready, then there are torrents for seasons 1-7 out there. Other shows I reccommend:

Surreal Gourmet
As much as I abhor her, Rachel Ray's 30 minute meals
Most Jamie Oliver shows.

I think partly the reason why today's [American] females can't cook is that there are so many restaurants and fast food places that it has become so easy to eat how you want and it's become so cheap that people don't cook anymore. It's so convenient to just pick the place you want to eat at, and go there and pick it up. If ever people wanted to eat really nice, they'd just go to a restaurant. It's suprisingly damn affordable.

People are so caught up with their issues today that they don't want to spend hours in the kitchen. They'd rather get it over with asap.

My female 4 cousins can't cook...not for the reasons you listed (they may apply to other ethnicities) but for this reason: they were/are (the youngest 2 still livng at home) busy running around, going to clubs, hanging out with scrawny oversexed lil hoodrat niggas and judging from the results of that behavior, trying to get knocked up. All this "a sista's gots ta git hers" bullshit led to a bunch of sisters just running around all times of night after school looking for "baby daddies", and not bothering to learn basic shit like cooking.

Fixed.

Cooking is a life skill. Everyone should know how.

You want your girl to cook? Show her how. Buy her a cook book, sign up for some lessons, watch some shows together.

Don't get bitter cause she can't cook. Not everyone can. My father's mother tried to cook, but she couldn't. All her children admit it was pretty bad. Some of them can't cook. Except for my father, who can. So can my mother, my sister, and I.

Everyone should know. Unless you're picking up a female cook, don't expect that shit. wtf?

But not knowing how to cook eggs? That's like not knowing how to make toast.

I don't expect women to be good at cooking. It's a nice bonus, but shit, I can't do it at all. I suck at cooking. I can make good simple food, but that's it, and that's enough for me. I have an oven but I can honestly say I've never used it. It's a skill that I would like to learn, but after working 12+ hours everyday, I don't really have the energy to cook. I imagine that women who are busy with school and work like me also find themselves in the same situation. Fortunately, all of the women I've dated are excellent cooks and love to cook for me. Unfortunately, I am single right now, so it's eggs and rice or fast food, more often than not.

being able to cook, is second nature in my family.....

not having a mom, is probably the reason for that, but it just goes to show, that four guys won't starve to death, without a woman around......

therefore, cooking is covered (as are 90% of the rest of the domestic chores-I don't touch bathrooms, and hate dishes)

but, it's nice to have a woman cook for you once in a while, and I refuse to marry a woman who can't cook as good as my dad......if you can't cook while we're dating, I'll never marry you....but if you get your ass in the kitchen, and watch myself, and my dad cook, and actually LEARN.......then you're mine for life.....

my mother was a hella feminist and she raised me and my 2 bros to be able to cook, clean, sew and etc.
cause she knew women would be fucking useless when i was old enuff to shack up with one.

also after being in the army for 4 years the only reason i need a woman is to fuck.
i do all the cooking, cleaning, ironing, washing, everything.

my gf sometimes will do stuff, but normally doesn't do it to my standard.

it is pretty sad that men are the new women nowadays and women can do whatever the fuck they want and if you question it, its sexist!!

Yeah I would think that the decreasing chance of a woman being able to cook is quite possibly due to their parents not cooking as much as their grandparents etc. Like, if an 18 yr. old girl has grown up eating take-out most of her life, i wouldn't expect her to know how to cook, and nowadays I dont think such a situation is uncommon at all, sadly.

Being able to cook is a definite plus in a girl though IMO. But at the same time I feel like I should also be able to cook, cause I mean i'm not going to expect my wife to do all the cooking. I would feel like a bum if i did that. My dad does most of the cooking at our house, and I really respect him for it. I can cook basic stuff, but I think i'm going to start trying to learn how to do more things in the kitchen, good skill to have, and it's fun to me.

Like i just started seeing this girl and one night we were just chilling at the house kindof bored and i was like "we should cook something." So we went to the store and bought some stuff and made like shrimp fettucini (sp????) or something, and it was a lot of fun and not bad eating either. I mean that's way better to me than ordering a pizza and still not having anything to do, ya know? She also brought over some sweet and sour chicken last night and that was good stuff :lovin:

So yeah, cooking FTW.

wtf are "housewife ethics" anyway? A new buzz word?

EVERYONE should be taught how to cook and clean by their parent/guardian(s). Your spouse or significant other should not have to do it for you. If they want to, that's cool. That's a whole different bag.

Fuck your "housewife ethics". :annoy: I'm not anyone's goddamned housewife and I don't plan to be. Amazingly, I can still cook and clean, because that is what idependent adults are supposed to be able to do for themselves. It's not some automatic shit that comes with the "girlfriend kit".

*on a sidenote here....I seem to be the only person that doesn't like eggs...I do not like them at all, Sam I am. That shit is ATROCIOUS, imo. For me, it's almost as bad as what it must be to lick the asshole of some random homeless person. They don't even look delicious. They don't even SMELL delicious. Besides, I'm allergic anyway...at least to eggs served on their own. For some reason it's ok if the egg is merely an ingredient in the food. So...I've never made eggs, and I probably never will in life.

I don't eat eggs ever unless I am dieting, as they are pretty damn disgusting. I don't understand how people can eat them, really. Toast, sausage, pancakes, waffles, every single breakfast item is better than them.

Like you, I dunno what's up with it, but eggs by themselves used to make me SERIOUSLY ILL, I kind of grew out of it though.

I agree with you that everyone should know how to cook and clean, mostly because I do all of it myself. However, you can't get down peoples throats because (to my knowlege) you havn't dated the women that are around these days. They're useless, they do nothing and if faced with any kind of work they spout some femininity bullshit to get out of it, or flirt, or cry or use any of their weapons besides their own two hands to get it done with.

Actually, I've noticed that a lot of men my mother's age and my grandfather's age dont know how to cook or cook adequetly. I guess it's the whole pre/post babyboomer mentality.

But seriously everyone should know how to cook or at least know the basics, like eggs, or know how to cook in a sanitary way for example:

Always fully cook beef and pork, especaly chicken and NEVER cook chicken that sat out for too long for the tept to rise to room temp.

Dont eat gray beef even if it came out of the fridge it's bad. (A friend of mine did this and I kept telling " That meat is bad." And did he listen to me noooo.

After touching raw chicken always wash your hands with antibacterial soap before touching anything else like veggies or preparing another dish. Oh and wash your pots and pans really good that was use to cook any meat.

When buying fish or any seafood it's not suppose to have a pungent fishy smell.

Dont eat other people's collar greens, okra, and/or if applicable to you; chitlins. if they dont clean and/or inspect it before cooking. Unless if it's frozen.

And Million your not the only one who hates eggs. I dont think my uncle likes them. I dont think he even likes grits. Now I love grits. :lovin:

More edintess: But once you think about it. There's a lot of reasons why people (or your girlfriend) doesnt know how to cook. A lot of people are very intimidated by fire for one and/or they dont have enough courage and they think they'll be horrible cooks. I mean who wants to make a yucky meal for their love ones? Or maybe she needs an assistant to cook with her.

I mean. If she can make a hot sandwich then she can cook or maybe she's intimidated by a stove or ingredients. Maybe she knows how to cook but doesnt know how to use your stove (she may have used an electric stove her whole life and never used gas or visa versa)

Maybe just have a talk with her and help her out in the kitchen and make it fun for her and you. :wgrin:

Try out with the basics. Make eggs togeather but make her do the baby work like cracking eggs, putting in the seasonings, and mixing them.

And make meals that uses cheese as a main ingredient. Cheese is great to cook with, it's tasty, and it's awesome. Uneless if she's latose intolerant.

I meant most, dealing in absolutes is stupid. We all know plenty of useful women are out there, and I may as well explain what I mean by that:

Women that can carry their own weight in most aspects of life. Work, paying for dinner, housework, cooking, anything. An equal share as the man is ideal. However, most just want to be trophy wives, pampered, live "the good life." Why do you think paris hilton is famous? Men don't like her at all, women like her, paris just acts like an idiot and does whatever she wants all day. Most men hate paris hilton, they think she looks like a shank and wouldn't touch her with a 10-foot pole.

Thanks for the elaboration.

Everyone I know who likes paris hilton are women who want to be like her, again, you probably arent friends with dumbass teenagers worshipping a whore, unfortunatly I was briefly. When people say they like paris hilton they don't normally get another conversation.

It's sad but true, almost all the guys I know have women leeching off of them and almost all women I know are leeching off some guy.

Here's what "relationships" are nowadays: The man gives the woman everything she wants for a chance at sex. That's pretty much it.

The thing is that I know way more men who know how to cook than women. Women today want to get married, but they don't want to do any work. Most of the women I have dated have been fucking worthless, and good for only one thing. Take me, I'm a guy, I hunt my own food, and do that manly shit, and I can cook full meals, because I worked for years in a high scale steakhouse, and we made everything even the desserts from scratch. About the only place where you can find women who have any wife skills whatsoever is at churches. I mean, god damn, I don't expect a woman to serve me, but it would be nice if she could cook me dinner ever now and then. I won't marry a woman who can't cook, her looks will hit the fan one day, but a woman who can cook is only going to get better.

i think knowing cooking/kitchen vocabulary?

i don't think a girl could even get that far with me unless i knew she could tear it up in the kitchen. maybe im crazy but if i have a wife that ends up spending mucho time at the house ie pregnant or just had a baby, or has the day off from work and i'm out bustin' balls to make that bread, there better be at least some rice and beans, or a tuna salad or grill cheese or pbj and some capri sun something done in the kitchen, like i wouldn't expect her to be outside cutting the lawn or trimming trees or changing the oil on her car, and if i came home to that i'd probably have to stop her to give her "the dick of gratitude" but unless she's sick i'd hope she wouldn't just waste time killin' popcorn watching stories and maury.

Honestly a woman that can cook I FEEL get immediate attention and EXTRA you got me points. Im not saying cook every day ladies, cause I can share the load. But woman that can walk in my door, get the pans out and begin a MEAL [ie fried pork chops, mashed potatoes n gravy, steamed broccoli], just adds on to the sexyness and wanting of her in my life even more.

I mean IT SHOULD come with the territory. Some women can say oh a man should be able to do house work, heavy lifting, outside house work...well it falls in the same category as cooking. Cause you [women] would be pissed as shit if we couldnt paint that room, lift that couch or fix something that you know you couldn't do but in your mind a man should be able to do.

Certain things should be in the line up. If my woman cooks, I got dish clean up duty. If I cook she has it. She is cleaning up, I know I have to do the laundry portion, or move something heavy for her in order for her to clean. Not saying that all men should know how to cook, but they should be able to bring something to the table that you [women] cant do but would like for him to have. You don't need to cook every night, theirs leftovers for a reason, but knowing how just gives you an extra boost as to whatever you want. My girlfriend will cook up a STORM, and can turn around and say "I need you to move the couch and table around for me later"... no problem at all.

So my point is, YES, it should be a requirement cause ladies DO require guys to have those things that they EXPECT from a guy. So in essence one thing is for our women to be able to cook a good meal. You don't have to slave every night, just be able to work your mans mind from a kitchen stand point; cause bedroom action only works for so long.

But seriously everyone should know how to cook or at least know the basics, like eggs

Hard boiling a few eggs might be basic, but cooking a GOOD egg is an art IMO. :)

My sister asked me if I wanted steak and eggs one day and of course I said "fuck yes!" but when I went into the kitchen, she had finished the crispy-bottomed hard-yolked eggs (ugh), and THEN put the steaks on to cook. WTF???

Always fully cook beef and pork, especaly chicken and NEVER cook chicken that sat out for too long for the tept to rise to room temp.

Chicken thing is right, but I have to have my steak and pork rare. Fully-cooked is a subjective term I guess. There's nothing wrong with rare steak, and while there was a valid concern about pork way back when, it's just a myth now as 99.5% is safe. Ask Martha Stewart lol

What I find people fuck up the most in cooking is timing. Unless you're preparing elaborate dishes that require mixing ingredients in stages, cooking isn't too hard. A simple fried meat and potatoes/rice meal with some veg isn't hard, it's knowing WHEN to start each part so it's all finished at once. Also, STAY IN THE KITCHEN. I can't remember how many times my buddy was cooking a fried meat meal and came out to watch TV with me.

"Do I smell something burning?"
OH SHIT!

on the other spectrum, like numerous others have pointed out, are feminists who think that cooking for a man is wrong, degrading and humiliating. luckily there are smart women who don't buy into this. like those ivy league graduates who were surveyed and say they plan to take time off so they can raise their families. First off, you couldn't POSSIBLY be offended by what I say when EVERYONE ELSE ON SHORYUKEN says stuff ten billion times worse, or at the very least, AGREES with me. I mean, when you've got ppl like serpent saying: "Girls go out on dates, expect guys to pay, so its their fault if they get raped" and then having ppl agree, I hardly think what I said can be classified as misogynistic.

But for the sake of argument lets say it is.

So what part don't you agree about? The useless sluts who can't cook? Well look at the EXCELLENT example of paris hilton. she doesn't know how to do shit except get on her back and spread her legs. and girls out there IDOLIZE her. all you need for proof of that is go on myspace and see how girls whore themselves out and talk about paris as their role model. A recent South Park episode provided scary social commentary about this trend. Tons of useless sluts. And they definitely dont know how to cook. But they know how to get on both knees. SO SAD.

Or is it that feminists think cooking is degrading? That's hardly a stretch. Back in the day, women were stuck in the kitchen and had no rights. They were stuck in gender roles. So the feminists back in the day fought against that. They fought hard to get women into colleges, to get them the right to vote, etc... GREAT that's awesome. So gender roles were smashed. But now its taken to the next level. There is still a fight against gender roles. Any activity that is domestic and can be considered the "role of women" is targetted and attacked by feminists as degrading and humiliating to women.

But you can't have it both ways. You can't be the proud strong independent millionaire CEO and raise a family at the same time. you gotta make a choice. and feminists say the choice is: fuck the family. Because the gender roles in the past have been so blurred now, and couples are not willing to compromise on things, and act as two independent people living together instead of one cohesive team, divorces are abundant. In asia, where men bring home the bacon and women take care of the kids, divorce rates are much lower. i'm not saying that's the right thing and that women should stay barefoot in the kitchen, but i am making the observation that gender roles actually help marriage.

All I want is a woman to make me dinner when I get home. In return I will support the family. Is this sexist? I could care less. I dunno about the rest of america, but there are actually plenty of asian church girls out there who are actually quite happy to do this. sweet! I'm not asking for much. I do NOT want said woman to get into a fight about how i'm trying to enslave and subjugate her. fuck that.

And you can call me a pig if you want, but if you knew me at all, you'd know that I actually treat all my female friends like they were queens. I'm talking bend over backwards for favors, listen to them cry for hours without saying a word, take care of them, protect them, and show them the utmost respect and care at all times. which is incidentally, why i've been completely friendzoned by all of them. damn i'm whipped. its pathetic but i'm okay with it. but that's another subject.

In conclusion, my mom cooked me dinner today and damn it was good. Dad married a good woman.

Any activity that is domestic and can be considered the "role of women" is targetted and attacked by feminists as degrading and humiliating to women. This is where I disagree. Being feminist and being around lots of others, none of them that I know would agree with you. Maybe you should read up on 3rd wave literature. Honestly, me & my feminists agree it's all about CHOICE. If the woman wants to be a housewife because that's what she wants to do, we say "That's great, honey! Do a good job." There's no point in fighting that. There will always be some housewives. However, I do caution aganist the myth that at one time in a America most women where housewives. And I mean, if this is such a phenom, where are the massive studies and the outcry? The governmental actions? Feminism isn't the problem, really feminism is just the easy scapegoat.

You'd have to look at feminist history, who they were back then and who they neglected back then. But you can't have it both ways. You can't be the proud strong independent millionaire CEO and raise a family at the same time. you gotta make a choice. and feminists say the choice is: fuck the family. Absolute bull!
Of course, you cannot have it both ways b/c their simply isn't enough time to do all of those. But why should a woman have to choose? What I mean is, why can't the choice be for the father to be the one to take care of the kids? Or to share the responisbilities more evenly.
Alot of women work 8 hour days and then come home to another 8 hours of work of cleaning, cooking, and caretaking. This should be spread out more evenly between the two. Because the gender roles in the past have been so blurred now, and couples are not willing to compromise on things, and act as two independent people living together instead of one cohesive team, divorces are abundant. In asia, where men bring home the bacon and women take care of the kids, divorce rates are much lower. Just because they stay together longer doesn't make it a good thing. There are millions of couples that need to broken up and not together. Divorice isn't the end all horrible negative thing we always swoon about.

Also, divorces aren't abundant b/c ppl aren't working as a team. How would you quantify that at all? They're abundant because people are living longer and we all know, people change and people make mistakes. Staying married isn't the always the best thing. i'm not saying that's the right thing and that women should stay barefoot in the kitchen, but i am making the observation that gender roles actually help marriage. In asia, where men bring home the bacon and women take care of the kids, divorce rates are much lower Actual team work helps marriage. I don't think what you described is actual teamwork at all. All I want is a woman to make me dinner when I get home. In return I will support the family. What is supporting the family? Just making money and when you get home you prop your feet up and watch tv till you fall asleep? I hope not. Cause that, my friend, isn't team work.
And you can call me a pig if you want, but if you knew me at all, you'd know that I actually treat all my female friends like they were queens. I'm talking bend over backwards for favors, listen to them cry for hours without saying a word, Are you kidding? Why do you do that? I wouldn't do that. "You've got to stop crying and take some action!" Is what I tell my friends.

Besides that, if you're really into team work and y'all love each other, you'd get a her a cook book and lessons.

In conclusion, my mom cooked me dinner today and damn it was good. So did my mother. She made dinner and so did my dad! My dad would also spend alot of time with me. He taught me how to mow the lawn, change a tire and change my oil. He also would say to me "What is a woman's place?" and the correct answer, which I would provide is "Wherever she wants to be." That's what my father taught me and that is what my mother showed me.

That's the fucking golden truth right there. Although I'm not lactose intolerant. I still feel you though. I just feel that people should at least have the basics down like: how to boil water, make pasta, cook an egg (scrambled and boiled) and possibly some rice. I REFUSE to pick up all the goddamn slack in a relationship just cuz I'm in college for culinary arts. My degree does not mean I'm a fucking cooking machine. I hate when people hear that I went to school for cooking they automatically ask me to cook for them... I'm sorry after number 2,097,287 it just gets annoying. I'm glad that my girl knows how to cook some things though. Of course I'm teaching her more stuff too.... so I'm ok.:wgrin:

All this thread accomplished is giving me a craving for grits.

Grits with bacon and eggs and cheese.

Grits with fish.

I hate you, thread. Cooking grits is a pain in the ass.

And fishjie, don't ever make reference to Paris Hilton being anything. She is worth $300,000,000. She doesn't have to do anything. Life is about providing for yourself. But she was born into enough wealth that for her, nothing really matters.

The one consolation I have in knowing that people like that exist is that they'll never, ever, ever taste grits.

sigh i'm too lazy to try and respond individually to all of that. too much work to break up the quote tags and respond individually. lol.

so i'll just try and address a few points.

"What is supporting the family? Just making money and when you get home you prop your feet up and watch tv till you fall asleep?"

did you miss the whole point about me treating my female friends like queens? I'm not *crying* about it like you were saying, because I actually enjoy helping others, not just girls.

just ask that jackass airthrow, who I drove miles and miles in the morning to his house to give him his cell phone which he had left in my car two days before, and then drove miles and miles in the opposite direction to work. Gas consumed: a crapload. And then I never saw him again. BASTARD!

again, not crying, just glad to be of help to others. (just kidding airthrow I love you. pls call me i'm so lonely  )

Basically the answer to your above question can be found in that statement, which is why I made it in the first place. I guess you missed the point. So just in case, let me explicitly state that no, i will not just prop my feet up and fall asleep. but damnit, I just want a nice meal when I get back. kthxbai.

oh and as for that feminism stuff, shrug. you say you and all your feminists agree its about choice. yet I can find a good deal of guys on srk who are willing to back me up on the statements I made, and then some. So whose right exactly?

To me feminism has always been about women claiming to be strong, equal, and independent; they don't NEED men. sadly, a lot of the times, at least to me, it seems that just means: "I'm never going to cook or clean or do the dishes again fuck that its degrading! i'm drinking like its 1999"

also, many women will admit all the time that although they like all the equality crap, they want a strong guy who can protect and provide for them.

But I will admit, I have NEVER taken a feminism class. So I could be COMPLETELY WRONG (and I'm sure that's what you'll say). fair enough.

and i do agree with that teamwork stuff. As long as everything is made clear and communicated, it works beautifully. Actually one of my bosses currently runs her own company while her husband does all the domestic stuff. it works out just fine. however too often, the women want to do nothing at all except eat ice cream all day while watching soap operas. again the guys of srk can back me up. this shit has ALL been said before - so again I dont see why you'd neg ME when I was THAT DAMN CLOSE to winning another green bar and there were SO MANY OTHER people you could've negged. damnit where's my violin?

as for the stuff you said about divorce, I agree KINDA, but not completely. Over 50% rate is WAY too high. But that' deserves its own thread.

So in conclusion, EGGS ARE NOT NASTY. they are an EXCELLENT source of protein and are very yummy and filling, and a GREAT way to start off your day!

I'm dating a girl right now who can't cook, but she really wants to learn, and I thought the whole thing was odd, then I go home and her mom cooks for us......If you COULD call it that. So I cooked for her and showed her what real cooking was all about, and now she wants to learn. The wanting to learn part for me is much better than the "too lazy to learn" attitude that some girls have. But seriously, its no wonder she can't cook, she is a product of her environment.

Out of my family, I'm the only guy who can cook, when I was young, I always liked the thought of cooking, it looked interesting and fun. I dunno, but I did learn how to cook, and I agree, when you make a first dish, you always read how to make it first before you cook it, then after that, you go from their, and that's where you can really make it to your own style and liking. As for woman not knowing how to cook, for me, it's a 50/50 thing, however the girl that I am interested in, she says she can't cook, so, I dunno.

I learned to cook from my parents and tidbits from my grandmothers. My dad taught me how to cook a couple of things like fish, stir fry and barbecues. Pretty funny that I think of it my mom's mom taught me sausage and basically a couple of breakfast type foods. My dad's mom didn't really teach me anything now that I think of it and she was a career cook. She was all about cooking and you eat. You had to stay out of her way, but she did give me tips on recipes. My mom on the other hand taught me everything else.

I use to work at Perkin's Restaurant as a cook, so my skills crossed over and I learned that I was a natural. People always gave me compliments on the presentation of how the food was on the plate as well as their meal being just how they wanted it. Cooking runs in my family and they're all from the south. My parents are from Florida but I was born in NY. Both of them can cook like a motherfucker so it just came to me.

My parents like my steak so when I'm in NY I cook the steak. My dad says my steak is more tender and juicier than his steaks so he always asks me to cook the steak. I learned all the meat temperatures at Perkins as well as how to cook a wide range of things because of the large menu I hand to memorize. The one I dreaded was the Black Diamond steak because it was thick and so heavily marinated. Once I became proficient in cooking Black Diamonds it made my other steaks twice as better.

Women love that I can cook and are attracted to it. If they can't cook, it's fine with me as long as she is willing to learn.

Women don't know how to cook these days cuz 1:they're lazy, 2: they were never taught, 3: there's guys like me who know how to cook so they just say fuck it, 4: some women just need to be waited on hand and foot... I hate those high maintenance types.

And for those who believe that copying what a book tells you = cooking. You have never been more wrong. True cooks are the old school moms and such who have that shit in their blood. Of course I'm not trying to offend anyone it's just my upbringing and the things I've learned about myself through school talking.
