Amen to that.
These XBL forums have lacked anything with substance or interest in a while, infact they are so boring you can find more of an interesting read in the Trading outlet.
The only person i have seen trying to drag these forums out of the crap that is noobsville is Nastradamus who actually tries to bring intelligence to the forums. This however doesn’t last for long, within a day his posts are on the second page and your left with:
How is the lag
I retire
I quit
Such and Such is a Pussy dropper
I owned someone that no one cares about on XBL
These are pretty much all the threads on the forum right now and is all there has ever been in a long while. Not just the SFAE forums but the CVS also. I don’t think anyone even posts in the others.
XBL seems to be dying also, It’s been out a long while now and people are either done with it or frustrated with it perhaps its time to stick all the XBL forums in one forum and start banning noobs that post threads about any of the above.

If JWong starts playing once a month, he's retired. It's like a boxer. Staying in shape now and then is not competiting or even training. This is just my opinion but if you go from playing a LOT to barely playing and not entering any tournaments, you may play now and then but you're retired in my view...until you get back on your competitive training regimen.
The word "retirement" separates players who play endlessly from players that barely play at all. There's a real difference between them and I'd rather it illustrated.
Just my thought on the subject.

I have to agree with the whole "I'm retiring" bit as well being lame.
Online is NOT that much different than offline. It doesn't affect your timing that much with a decent connection. I play online all the time, then play offline right after with my brother and friends, and it feels the same. The same setups, the same reversals, the same.
"My offline skills are suffering due to the lag online!" Well, boo hoo. What, you wanna be champeeeen of the world? It's just a game! Jump online, and you get instant competition, instant rivalries, instant grudge matches. It's a lot easier than running to an arcade once a month hoping there are people playing Hyper or 3S.
Think of how many people you've met online, if only just virtually. Think of how most of our skills have improved BECAUSE of online and the rekindled flame that burns within you for fighting game competition.
You retire, and then what? Play the computer hours on end with 'perfect' timing? WTF cares about that shit?
Online has brought new life to Street Fighter, I don't care what anyone says. Just play.

Umm Well this (IMO) is not accurate. Lag will change the way you play. When I went from online St to arcade St i had to change my game play with ken a lot. I didn't realize it but some of my mixups with the knee bash are not nearly as effective off line as on line. Then when you add in reversal timing, antiair DP timing or any think that reqires precised reactions will be off when you go off line to play. You will DP earlier then you want to ranges will be a bit off beacuse you are use to pressing the sweeps earlier. But it only takes about 20-30 min to adjust to off line play and you are just fine. But it can be very frustrating to ppl when they get owned up only beacuse they have been plaing in lag.
Other then that savlas is right. 24/7 comp is great and it has grown our ST/SF community by many great players. Hell look at evo 05 AfroLegends and Illshill making top 10. They had never played in a tourny before. They would not have been ready for that if it were not for LIVE SF. And im sure there are some 3s players that could say the same thing.
later.

I have to disagree with you. I thought the exact same thing until I went to a tourie. Their whole play style was different. People from my old arcade that I use to be able to beat were owning me. I mean you say "it's just a game", but when you put hours into something and think your good, then go somewhere and get destroyed it hurts. Doesn't feel good. When I quit I gave up sf all togather. I see no point in spending hours on a online game when you're not getting better. Online messed up my timing, and made me really easy to read.(May not do this to others)Just my thought, but if you have a arcade close by online will help you practice combos, but if you only go to tournie then online play will really hurt you.
ps- But I did meet a lot of cool people.

this post is correct... while ssavalas was on his rant about shit.... he over looked a facter called DECNT CONNCTIONS. ONLINE there is RARELY a decent to good connection.

01-14-2006, 09:33 AM
Actually, my post did state 'with a decent connection'. I know there are some shit connections. But I also get many great connections that feel like the person is sitting right next to me.
To the other guy stating that he got destroyed in a tourney, well, what can I say. I never said that online was going to turn you into Daigo. It's just for fun is all. Maybe the reason you got your ass kicked in the tourney is because, well, maybe, just maybe, you're not good enough.
My point is that giving up online SF or 'retiring' (LOL), is just a cheap excuse for losing offline. You can do both. It's not that hard. If you can't adjust, maybe you should be playing halo instead.
I think Sabre's right in that most of these are cheap whorings of attentions.
BTW, I'm retiring Hyper. My going away party is Monday night at the Hamilton Convention Centre. Bring presents.

Why? Hyper has just as much timing involved as 3S.
Arcas V

Its not about timing only, its about reaction... yang is a charactor based on reaction and look who plays him. Make sense now?

No. I beleive that hyper has just as much timing and 'reaction' involved as 3s. Saying otherwise is what doesn't make sense.
Arcas V
01-14-2006, 02:20 PM
But you've never played 3s at high levels:confused:. Just because they both street fighter, doesen't mean they both have the same skill attributes.... any good 3s play that knows about xbl also knows that some of the top players can't deal with even the decent connections.
Im done though lol. I tryed to help, but I can't stand when people judge what they don't know. No big deal though lol.

hyper and 3s require the same skills... reaction and timing there is no difference HOWEVER who plays hyper enough for it to affect there offline when there isnt even a decent seen for the game... that is where the factors come in...
