I just wanna start a list of places where arcades are located at. I'd appreciate if people would start posting the name of the arcade and if possible the adress of the arcade, city, and zip code, so people won't have to look around too much.
Please, no spamming in this thread, it will be deleted, thanks.

DIRECTIONS FROM NORTH
Game LAN'd is near the UNCC campus. If you are coming from the raliegh area you will take I-85 to exit 48, which is I-485, to exit 33, which is US-49. At the exit ramp light you will take a right onto US-49 and go 0.8 miles. On the left you will see University Plaza strip mall, a Shell station, and an Arby's. Game LAN'd is located behind the Shell Station, on the 2nd floor.
DIRECTIONS FROM SOUTH
If you are trying to reach Game LAN'd from south of Charlotte, you will take I-77 to exit 13A, which is I-85 towards Greensboro. You will take Exit 42 which is US-29/49. US-49 splits off to the right, follow US-49 for 2.5 miles. You will pass the UNCC campus on your left. After you pass the UNCC campus, Game LAN'd will be on your right.

Location: College Ave. State College, PA (Penn State University)
Games: CVS1, CVS2, MVC1, MVC2, S.Calibur 1&2, Guity Gear X, Street Fight III, 3rd Strike, KOF 98 (i think), Tekken 4, Tekken Tag
My thoughts: 50,000 students in Penn State, but only like 10 actually play CVS2. How pathetic. It's a big arcade with tons of games, somebody please, I mean really, please start holding tournaments there.

CVS2 = 5
MVC2 = zero
KOF98 = zilch
3rd Strike = 4
Tekken 4 = 3
Tekken Tag = nil
MVC1 = FMJ only
CVS1 = less than 1
Guity Gear X = 0
S.Calibur 1 = nought
S.Calibur 2 = 6
Virtural Fighter 3 = none
Alpha3 = zip
SF3:2ndImpact = neg.
All the above listed games are .25 cents to start and continue.

Well, we used to have 2 here, but we're down to one now, since 1 of our arcades turned into a pool hall, and has maybe 7-8 games at most.
The one we have left.

In White Marsh Maryland, is there any good competition at Tilt in CVS2?
Just to let you guys above know. MD original tournament home was Gametime located in VA. But that closed down, now we have huge get togethers. If there are tournaments you must be willing to drive 2 hrs to either philly or charolette NC. But for good comp come to some of the get togethers:
Tomass's house: go to www.gamecombos.com and look in the forums section for "MD matches"
Johans/Koops house: Look at the thread below for contacts and whats goin down
That what pretty much I can tell yall. No one [around our area of lower MD ] goes to an arcade hardly anymore. Especially when common scence smacked us and said why not put money together that you use on games...order some food and have a get together and chill and what the hell you want till your ready to leave.....

Those arcade are not around anymore. As MD information minister I can tell you that arcades are scarce. Then at that if they are there....they never have ALL the top games. They have family games such as pacman, racing games and a old mortal kombat. Even if they do have MvC 2 and Tekken, they wont have street fighter...and vice versa.
Then along with that, those arcade owners are not "into" the gaming scene, just in it for the money. I've stated this many times for southern maryland. The baltimore crew may know a place to try to gather, but I can tell you that down here and out western md...nothing my friend...nothing...but MY HOUSE...JOHANS HOUSE...TOMS HOUSE.

I don't quite see what's wrong with running single game tournaments at different arcades. I mean, sure turnout won't be as high but wouldn't it be better than nothing at all? And if there aren't as many people packed into one arcade, maybe those owners who are just in it for the money won't notice we're having a tournament at all...
*imagines secret tournament with only 5 people in the arcade at one time while the others hide out at the nearest mall store*
Ok that wouldn't work, but I'm sure arcade owners can be influenced in ways...
anyway, here are some yawnful namco owned arcades.

Its mostly a place for jitz but there is a decent fighting game following there who are anxious for that 3S machine. I'm one of them cause I'm really bored playing people who can't fight unless their SNK Groove meter is filled on CvS1... :) Joking, guys, joking.
Convergence--a little late to reply to your post there but me and three people I know generally play CvS2 at Eastgate often on Saturdays. Not sure if you're still in town or if you're done with school or whatever, but that's usually when you'll find competition at EG.

Some arcades in/near Rochester, NY with fighting games:
FYE
in EastView Mall
Victor, NY (edit: scratch that...they took the arcade out of FYE)
Time-Out
in Greece-Ridge Center Mall (quite small, no 2d fighters, unfortunately)
Adventure Landing
Greece, NY
Anyone add to the list?
My cousin lives in Albany, NY, and I remember we went to a pretty cool arcade there called "WOW!". Well, it was cool about 8 years ago, when I was last there...it cost $3 to get in, and the games were 5 cents, 10 cents, or free. Last I was there, they had some old fighting games, including WW. I can't promise that now, though...I should check it out again and see what they have (although I kinda doubt any MvC2, CvS2, 3S...).

The Carousel mall in syracuse with the cyberstation blew. Like most cyberstations all they have is soul calibur 2 and tekken games. They had one mvc2 cab and the hardware wasn't functioning properly not to mention the screen was cut off and you couldn't see the super bars. I don't even play marvel but the fact that they machine isn't even functioning properly is retarded

ok, didn't see anything for all of NC, so here we go:
AMF Bowling
Durham, NC
4508 Chapel Hill Boulevard
or, the service road next to oak creek plaza. their directions make no sense.
THEY HAVE:
ONE (1) SVC CHAOS MACHINE
and nobody playing it, except for these two guys i saw once. SVC Chaos is atomiswave, right? so that means they could be running guilty gear on it, right? i need to call raleigh amusements and give them hell for it.
but they do have strikers 1945 plus (2nd player joystick is iffy) which is a reason to come all by itself.

There is a MvC2 and 3S machine at Springfield Mall, VA 22150. It is located in the bottom Time Out. I use to play there a lot but not recently because of my suspended license. Either way just PM me or head up there around 5 pm Saturdays to play some decent comp.

are there any good arcades in long island, ny, especially for cvs2 and alpha 3?
damn, i'm about 3 months too late. well anyways. On long island we have jillians at The Source Mall. They have cvs2, T4, VF4, and that utracade thing with SF2:ww, CE, and HF. Across the street is another arcade with Mvc2. It used to have GGXX, Isuka, 3s, cvs1, and sfex2 but they took them out.

Well, it's been dead for years now, but now there is no more Virtual Fun at the Towson Towne Center in Maryland (pun intended). Too bad...A lot of good memories of that place, back when the other people running it and people coming there actually gave a shit about it. Maybe if the moron running it now knew how to run an arcade (as in, keep the sticks working and have something other than MvC 2 and Tekken games), it would still be around.

Damn near everything listed here, 2 CvS2's, 2 3rd Strike Cabinets, GGXX, SSFIIT, One of the Alphas, I think, MKII (Like anyone cares) Soul Cali 2 should be functional by the time anyone reads this, Sam Sho V, SvC Chaos, VF4 Evo, VF3, KOF 2003.
And I may be there after Christmas to debut my Faust skills.
I'm currently in NY, and I want to know when is a good time to go to Chinatown Fair for some CVS2 or 3S comp? Or even the arcade inside Port Authority (Bowling Alley,) I went there once and no one was there, and is the game really 3 quarters to play?
Anyways people, please post...I'm only in town for the weekend-ish, and I want to play some good NY comp...thanks

FYE in the Cape Cod Mall, featuring: MvC2 and Soul Calibur 2. That's it. No competition. There's also a card-game shop on Rt. 28 in Centerville with MvC2 on PS2, where I'm hoping to start a scene and maybe a tournament - though there are only four people I know of who can hold their own in serious play. I'm also the only person on Cape Cod who uses top tier teams (that I know of), also the only person who knows what ROM even is, let alone able to do it.... Expect a lot of wolverine/spidey/akuma players.
So, please, anyone, if you're vacationing or whatever come play - I need competition!
EDIT: Two DDR setups too, with some fairly hardcore stompers. I hate the game, but at least it keeps people coming.

Fabulous Family Fun Center in Hickory, NC.
All they got (that people seem to care about) is Tekken 5.1, Soul Calibur 2, Initial D v.3 (?), Dance Dance Revolution: Extreme, Pump It Up: Exceed 2, Guitar Freaks 4th Mix, Percussion Master (no...not Drum Mania), and some Sega gun game called G.H.O.S.T. The manager said that they're also supposed to be getting Mario Kart GP.
I've talked to the guy a few times about 2-D fighters. He says that if I could find enough support then he might get some. Because, apparently, if he sends an arcade cabinet to Namco...then they send him another game, of his choice.

The actually drum sim that connects with guitar freaks is called "drum mania", not drum freaks. prescussion master is either the korean version or the american (i can't remember)
the sega gun game is called G.H.O.S.T. Squad, and can support the sega memory card system. so kinda like the ID series (building up ur character, saving scores, etc etc) which gives the game a new aspect.
i have mario kart GP at my arcade. it's fun, but unless that arcade has a lot of customers come in who are couples / kids, i wouldn't advise it (it's really kiddy style... the arcade would probably be better getting maximum tune 2, which is also designed by namco)
the mario kart GP is a co-project b/w nintendo, sega, and namco

Where?
Ontario - Toronto (Scarborough region):
What?
Techtown
Where exactly??
Scarborough Town Center, Upper Level. Go to the Famous Players movie theatre, and in there (you don't have to pay to go in) is the Techtown arcade!
Tell me about it.
Not really such a great place. Has a Soul Calibur machine with a faulty player 2 stick. Also has a Marvel vs Capcom machine with apparently both sticks messed up and several faulty buttons. That's my closest arcade.. :arazz: Interestinly, the place has a House of The Dead and Time Crisis 3 machine, as well as an air hockey table which might be a lil fun at the expense of a dollar's worth.
Credit type?
Tokens, unfortunately. But it's pretty much worth it - $1 = 4 tokens. Most games there cost about 4 tokens, though. Only very few cost 2. =/
There used to be a great arcade down here in Toronto at Woodbine Center Mall (in Etobicoke). It was downstairs, right beside the movie theatre, but unfortunately, it seems to be closed/outta business now (or at least I think).
Btw, does anyone know of ANY place in Toronto that has a Killer Instinct machine? I can't find one anywhere. :wasted:

Seems the only arcade left in Toronto is Funland at Yonge/Dundas. All other remaining arcades (Video Amusement/Funland, Games Maximus, Gameland?? (Yonge/Bloor)) have all closed down over the last year or so. If you live in the city and prefer happ sticks to the Japanese cabs at orbit, Funland is still a decent place to reach for some competition.
Games Include:
Tekken TAG
Tekken 4
Tekken 5
Virtua Fighter 4
MvC
MvC2
SFvX
3rd Strike (2 cabs)
2nd Impact
Soul Calibur
Soul Calibur 2
GGXX
CvS
(Various Dance/Rhythm Games)

There's a arcade in Pennsylvania that you don't have listed. It's a Time Out and located in the Lehigh Valley Mall in Allentown/Whitehall. (City changes depending on who you ask. :-P Officially, it's Whitehall.) Their phone number is 610-264-8802.
Off the top of my head they have Tekken 5.1, Tekken 4, and Soul Calibur II. They also have Initial D, DDR (Double Pad) (not sure which version), and a DDR-clone (Double Pad). For the light gun fans they also have Ghost Sqaud! I love that game. I believe they have Time Crisis II (or III) as well, but I'm not entirely sure. I think that that's everything that's good though.
Cick for the official Lehigh Valley Mall website (http://www.lehighvalleymall.com/stores/stores.shtml#Ent).

Wait, wait. Are you now living in DC after being in Berkeley? Cause... that's exactly what I did. Just graduated from Cal last spring. People play in the DC area, just not on arcade; it's a console area. Give me a pm or im at UltraDavid sometime, we'll play.

Yeah, console play is becoming increasingly popular now that arcades are dying. It's more convenient too. Pad scrubs can use pads and arcade stick users can bring their custom sticks.
BTW I just found out a couple weeks ago that Koop lives just down the street from me. He's a real cool guy and I wish I had known earlier. His CVS2 Cammy is serious business.

I am returning to Davis, California tommorow. I miss my arcade cabinets. Sorry to say, but I think I would have placed 2nd if I was given my perfect360 sticks from the cabinet back and home. But everyone's cabinet is different etc etc. Although I have played on pad before, it is usually to beat the hell out of my brother or random guests when everyone is plastered and the bastard in me decides to "play a random game" during a get together I beat everyone silly. BUt is that pad practice? I think not.
Anyway, I really enjoyed the X30 tournament that went on. I felt a little old at age 21 but that is common at my college. I hope you all have a good final round or whateveer stage of the tournament you will have after I leave.
If any of you are looking for comp and are in the davis/sf/sacramento area feel free to IM me.

Yeah...21's not that old for playing SF any ways. Actually I would prefer to play against someone older in SF just because they're more mature about the game. They probably have the expeirence to know what works and where their overall skill level is. Some of the kids that play SF in their spare time these days get all whiny when stuff doesn't go there way. Improving their gameplay isn't necessarily number 1 on their priorities either. Then again...Xbox Live has taught me that you can be a sore loser at any age.

Tilt Arcade in Southpark Mall
Colonial Heights, VA
Anyone living in the tri-city area of Petersburg, Hopewell and Chester know about this mall, the arcade is the third store on the right from the main entrance.
Current games:
Guilty Gear XX (MC)
MvC2 (in small cabinet but still gets the job done)
CvS (not 2, still pegging to get that)
Soul Calibur 2
SVC chaos maybeeeee in the next couple of weeks, we had the cabinet and board but need a monitor part.
The arcade is a ticket one and VERY quiet on the weekdays, I go near crazy sometimes with the boredom, but it's still a pretty cake job.
I make sure all machines are in good working order, especially the MvC2 cabinet.
I'm the only white boy working there, so if you want a run for your money at MvC2 just stop by on the weekends.

for 3s it would be Good Times, is it worth going to? HELL NO! there is no arcade scene in boston unless you feel like playing scrubs for 3s. Best thing to do is hop on the Boston thread and post up that you are looking for competition in 3s. as for the MIT arcade scene i believe all they have is just CvS2. Or you can head out to TGA which is miles away thats about 1 hour drive i think (don't remember) but its quite long.

Where is some marvel near the PA/MD line? The place down in the Valley Mall in Hagerstown is gone, and all they have are racers and a neo-geo machine in the theater. I haven't been to Aladdin's Castle in years, but even then they had little. (At best a Tekken Tag and a Soul Calibur 2 machine).

But if you want a good chance at finding players, 8 on the Break is the most popular NJ arcade for fighting games.

There's a Marvel machine in a luncheonette close to me. Fun Time USA used to have a Marvel cab... when they were still around. I'm sure they have tons of Marvel cabs at Astro Land in CI. I don't know if Nellie Bly has one?
There used to be a place called Hits and Hoops that had a Marvel cab. It's called Spartacus now, but I'm pretty sure they still have it there. Somewhere on Avenue Y if I'm not mistaken. There's also a place called Kids N Action on McDonald ave which probably has a small arcade but I really don't know.

Fun Tim USA has been closed for ages. They made a retarded policy that you had to get at least 5 dollars worth of tokens when entering and everyone stopped going. They used to have large cabinets for fighters, but competition there wasn't great.
In Astroland there were only like 4, and none of them were working.
I know Hits and Hoops had one like 5 years ago as well as this place Pyramid, but they both broke and the cabinets never got fixed, same thing for the marvel under the Q train on ave U, shit been broken for like 6 years and they still keep the marvel cabinet there.
I don't know that luncheonette you're talking about nor the place on McDonald. Since I live not too far from McDonald it would be nice if there was a marvel place near. Killing 3 hours out of a day isn't too exciting for me on transportation.
Anakron
12-29-2007, 08:14 PM
Fun Time USA had lots of games, but the buttons never worked. Soul Cali 2 was the only thing that worked perfectly but like you said, there was no comp.
I don't know about Astroland. They don't really get new games. I mean... Look at how old the Cyclone is. They used to have a ride call the Jumbo Jet and only when 10 some odd people died, is when they got rid of it. I swear, Astroland is a piece of shit.
The luncheonette is in Bensohurst. I'm not exactly sure where that place is on McDonald, but like I said, I don't know if they have Marvel. I heard it's like Fun Time USA though. It's close to Shop Rite. There's no comp, I bet. The luncheonette used to be cool. Back when Marvel just came out, they gave food away when you beat a certain amount of people. There was a college nearby so I used to just wail on them with Cable, Iron Man and Ice Man. Even then, a game store close to me had a bunch of cabs. They had Marvel and Garou, I remember and there was some comp. Even on 86th st, almost every grocery had a cab. I could walk only 9 blocks and play MSH, XvSF, MSHvSF, MVC, and Aero Fighters 2 along the way. What saddens me the most is that there used to be an arcade at Caesar's Bay (Bensonhurst, near the Verazano). First it was called More Fun, then later it became Smiles. It closed a long time ago for reasons unknown. It always had people. They didn't really have many fighting games but they always had Marvel and the people that worked there played pretty well. It's not like cabs cost alot of money, people just aren't interested in them anymore. Even laundromats have shitty games now. There's a laundromat nearby that has Street Fighter EX2. I don't dare wash my clothes there.

Yall probably already know but -- TimeOut at Silver Spring @ CityPlace is no more.
Since they sold City Place Mall, the new owner of the mall did not want an arcade there. That's the reason it was closed. However, the owner of time-out is/was looking for a location for the arcade. It may move to Prince George's Plaza or Wheaton Plaza. Thats was the last thing, I was told before it was closed down.
just as a report, if you're visiting DC, looks like Springfield Mall (end of blue line) and Beltway Plaza Mall (end of green line) are only places left to play marvel. otherwise, look up peeps for console.

not anymore. Majority of the ones that was listed are closed (note those posts was over 5 years ago). Tilt in white marsh is now replaced with some electronic store, Virtual Fun is no longer in Towson town center. As for the others in the PG area Gimpy brought those up. The only "arcade" in Baltimore is Crazy Johns. Yes Crazy Johns and yes the place is still open, the same spot that is right in the middle of strip clubs on Baltimore Street. I haven't been there for a while but they had a number of decent machines, T5 and MvC2 being the only ones there were getting play at the time. As a bonus, it's something of a throwback with the dim lighting and multiple Capcom/SNK fighters, not your typical mall arcade.
I'll have to stop through there some time and take an updated inventory.

theres an arcade there. It's a useless, waste of time with no fighting games at all, but it's still technically an arcade. If youre really desperate to play a decent game, there's a skating rink about 20-30 minutes away from Potomac Mills with a Tekken 3 machine. GOD! isn't NoVA just the best?

Yep, that's it. TO be honest, they don't listen to people anyway. Sticks break in there and they stay broke for a long ass time. Back in the day they were pretty good about getting fighting games but now......:shake:

Does anybody go to the Tilt in Tarentum, PA? I found it on arcadefly, but supposedly some of the machines are broken.
As of 2/24/09, they had marvel. Still the case?

I think I may know of the place. Never been, but the only thing I've heard is from a friend, because I was looking for N64 games, and they sell them. Gamestop doesn't. What fuckers.
You got the name, it is gamezone (it's on the front page). I'll try to make it out there sometime soon and check it out. I'll get back to you on here.

In walpole, ma there's an arcade (or at least was a month ago) called dream machine. I walked around it for a little bit but I am almost positive there were no good fighting games or fighting games at all. At the same mall there's a store called play n trade, they may have moved down the street, but at the time they had an MvC2 Cab. I was shocked and asked the guy about it. He said he was gutting it out and putting like metal slug in it or something. The store has a bunch of retro games if you're looking for that kind of stuff.

In South Portland, at the Maine Mall there is a recently opened arcade called 'Twilight Zone'. It is mostly retro games like Pac Man Mario Bros, and 90's racing games. They have House of the Dead II and I think a Time Crisis. But they also have a Street Fighter II : HF cab in decent condition. The 1st player side is pretty sharp, but I have heard that the 2nd player stick is somewhat unresponsive at times. I am hoping these guys bring in something a little newer, like a nice condition SFA2 or MvC would be enough to make me happy.

It's too bad the arcade in Nathan's on Central Avenue in Tuckahoe, NY is all but dead. Shit is like 5 minutes away from me and it's in a good location but all they have is 1 MvC2 cab last time I checked. Why the hell do SF4 cabs gotta be so expensive? lol
