Shoryuken Vs Just Defend XBL Tournament

Ever wondered if your best was good enough? Ever wondered if all those long hard hours practicing strats, honing your execution really took you to THE NEXT LEVEL?!

Gamefaqs Vs Shoryuken is a prestigious event in which the 'BEST players' from both websites will battle it out to find a true Champion. Formerly filled with commotion due to Shoryuken's poor performance in 2003's 'unfinished' Capcom VS Snk2 tournament. The question still remains as to which foundation of players is superior. And to which player is the Greatest.

Please post your interest's in this tournament. Id like to have an idea as to who would sign up and how much people would like to see it happen.

Standard Rules Apply.

Players will choose One Character with one Super Art.
No Gill.
Brackets are likely to be 3/5, until the finals which would be 4/7.
Dropping incurs a disqualification

This will most probably be a multi-week tournament to make sure players have plenty of time to find their opponents. Also I can probably only take 8 contestants from each website. This is due to Gamefaqs small install base :wgrin:

Players with both Gamefaqs and Shoryuken accounts are free to sign up for whichever website they prefer.

Yeah Dood 120% and The True Team Pink All~Stars would love to represent SRK in a tournament... even if it's to the death. But Yeah Dood 120% has also learned in the past 3 "online tournaments" he's been in that it's too much of a hassel getting everybody to play and in the end, the tournament is always ended shortly because too many brackets are left unfinished because of no shows. Great idea though... dood.

@ Yeahdood120%. Yeah I know what ya mean. Depending on how many players can sign up for Gamefaqs this might be a relatively small thing. But Im hoping to make sure both websites have a good line-up of players. Hopefully making it a multi-week tourney will also make sure that all games are played.


@ Chronic. Haha terrorists :rofl: I werent sure about the reception Hyper would have got. Im not even sure if the peeps over at gamefaqs play it. All I can see over there is 3S talk. Feel free to try for a Hyper tourney aswell tho if you like!

Sounds fun but I think it should be a one day only tournament. Having to keep up with one website's user base is hard enough but two? Thats just asking for trouble. I think it should be on Sunday afternoon or something from like 3 in the afternoon till finish. Just like a real tournament, if you can't make it you can't participate.

I'll be down for CvS2 and CFE (which will be unlikely).
There's a couple of people who post on here that don't even like this site, so that clearly qualifies those players as Gamefaqs representatives (2 PACK SHAKER and Culexor Omegas to name a few and primarily they post more on Gamefaqs than here).

From my understanding Kneel: this is just for 3rd Strike...am I correct since your reference to rules includes No Gill. Either way, regardless of who from Gamefaqs is representing, I still find it hard that the same place that mentioned that Ryu was able to do the EX Donkey Kick x 6 is going to battle SRK.

My original plans were to just have the 3S VS tourney. Reason being Im not sure enough players could be mustered up from Gamefaqs now for games like CVS2 and so on. The Gamefaqs CVS2 board was very lively back in the day. As far as I know only the SFAC board is now, but still doesnt get as many hits as CVS2 used to. Although it'd be good if someone could organize a VS tourney for another game if the interest is there.

I might have made a small mistake somewhere too. I think the tourney back in the day was changed to JustDefend Vs SRK at the last moment. But the original concept was for Gamefaqs Vs SRK :looney:

On the issue of the tourneys timeline. The only reason I doubt one day tourneys is because there is always a lot of no-shows. People sign up and then forget about it. I guess details are still up in the air tho as Im just trying to see what interest there is for this. If it does end up being a multi-week tourney I dont mind puttting in extra effort to make sure games are played. I could ask entrants to give me their email or something along those lines.

Well. Just a suggestion, but maybe JD vs SRK would be better. I'd be willing to organize CvS2. And I think more balance would be there as opposed to GF.

Im not entirely sure yet. I have to give enough time for sign-ups to be completed, then enough time for everybody to prepare for the start. Hoping there will be no excuses for no-shows and all that bad stuff. When all the spaces are filled I'll run a few dates by you guys and see what you all fancy. All I can say is GF/JD do have some good players so its not guaranteed to be a walk in the park, which is directed at TrueTech :P

In a while I will update the post at Gamefaqs and send a few PM's to try and build interest a little more for some of the Live players who may not have checked the thread :)
