No one is on, so I decided to play people I never heard of... bad move x_x. I won about 10% of the games (if that) and I was at a point where random scrubs wouldn't even rematch me. How do you guys do it? I mean, I don't mind loosing bc I play people who are better than me all the time... but when poeple do full screen shit nonstop and don't put any thought into their moves, I can't stand that. Its like a different form of evolution on xbl, players learn to abuse lag better every day. While I get better for offline play, I get alot worse for online... wtf? I seriously don't see how you guys play these people:confused: [/rant]
How often do you play lag abusers, and can you win?
ps. I still wanna do games tonight, so post if you want to play.

don't forget alot of the people who post have ridiculously sonic speed connections, so playing somewhat like offline is possible. If you can't good connections you're satisfied with, then just stop...better to be good offline then flourish with your newfound xbl skills- -

Yea I guess you're right about other people having a better connection. But don't worry about me adapting to the xbl abusers, im done lol. I'm going back to only playing srk-ers.
although I still need more offline play... you still coming to tech?

Nas, you sound like you have learnt all you can from live already. You should really give it up and focus on playing just offline. The thing about Xbox is not only the lag issues but the fact that the game runs slightly faster than the arcade / PS2 anyway. Hit confirms, timings for combos, charge partions, they are all different to do timings wise in the arcade. And as you correctly point out those bullshit lag tactics will not work in the arcade environment.
Now I know that lot of people do not have an arcade nearby, but if this is the case, you should try to arrange offline casual sessions. Through XBL and these forums, I met several other London players and now we play offline at least once every 2 weeks if not more as well as in the arcade. Since doign this, my game has improved by about 100000%. We even help set up Ranking Battles in London and now once every month there are 30 3S players competing against one another in competition environment. Even if you can only play offline only once a month, do that rather than play xbox live. For the rest of the time, just practice your execution.
If you really have no-one to play near where you live, then I guess you have to stick with XBL, but you will never improve beyond a certain point with just XBL until you play offline on a regular basis. We all know that 3S is hella addictive, but you gotta be strogner than that and realise that if you want to improve you need to put the xbox in the bin and that you need to arrange offline sessions instead. Besides playing with your friends in the same room is far more fun anyway.

>> How often do you play lag abusers, and can you win?
About 90% of my time online is wasted between lag abusers and crap players, unfortunately. But I win against them about 75% of the time now. If you play randoms, you get a lot of one trick ponies, some players that are a catalogue of lag abuse with any character they play and ...some decent people. I built my friends list entirely (well until yesterday) from playing randoms and there are some really cool people on there.
The key to beating lag abusers is just to be patient. Most of them make a lot of mistakes. Though this definitely has adverse effects on your 'proper' game against good players. A lot of people have complained that I don't attack enough, and I'm pretty sure this stems directly from fighting so many lame players, who frequently wakeup super, attempt naked hurricane kicks (ooer) and whiff shoryuken all the time.

Gwaan XEN  Typed the words right off my fingers!
Here's my textbook method of dealing with lag abusers:
If you jump in, parry since they try a crouching fierce.
If they go to the other end of the screen and hadoken away, dont chase them. Stay on your side and build meter. TRUST ME - they WILL eventually come to you. Ah yes!!! The feeling of watching those pathetic turtles resort to rushing you is just too good!
If they get you in the corner, wait for them to jump in (THEY WILL!)
If you get them in the corner, wait for them to jump in (THEY MOST DEFINITELY WILL!!!)
If you knock them down, anticipate the wakeup special.
Be on the lookout for random sweeps.
Bring their life down to 2% then let them beat you.
Or beat them and watch them drop :lame:

Man Nas don't sweat it, I feel the same way. Just try to remember that you use xbox live for new ideas and not for the only way to improve. Thats the only advise I can give you. Oh and remember that rank on xbl is bullshit and means nothing!!!!
Other then that get a joystick and do what it do homie.

Here's how to beat Reko :bgrin:
When he attacks you, parry it then counter with a sweep.
When he doesnt attack, do a sweep.
Make sure rapid fire and sextorrent client is switched on.

I usually just leave after the first match win or lose but yes it is hard to fight against assholes. What's even worse is if they taunt when they scrub there win off you.

Wow, I didn't think I would get this many responses lol. Thanks.
But honestly, I agree with all of you lol. You all have some good points and even some good anti-lag tactics lol.
As for me, I want to play offline more, but the scene here gets worse everyday... It use to be ok when I moved out here because the players were right above my skill level. But now, I have grown alot as a 3s player, and most people here don't take it that serious/competitively. Most people here only take ggxx#r serioulsy and don't really play 3s that much anymore. So now I guess I will use xbl to keep up my in game skills, and I'll keep working on my scrubby execution untill I travel to other places and meet more players.. I appreciate the advice.
But is the ps2 version really that much different from xb? ...Because I use Urien, and partition is already hard enough lol.

Live is slowly getting on me too. I've always been behind you Nas in skill. Though I'm finally getting better. I'm to the point that I just say fuck it after the first round after I see a certain type of play. Sparadic dashes and jumping around like a lunatic.
Though live is all I have. So I'm afraid my skill isn't going to improve much anymore since live is always variable because of lag. I'll just keep playing though. I still have a lot to learn but now the steps I need to take is offline. No tourneys for me.
Oh well.....

It's really different. In fact forget that you are playing online for a second and imagine they had lag free 3S on Xbox. You would still be at a disadvantage because the xbox version is faster than the arcade. Especially with Urien this is going to big time effect your 4 tackle combos, your dash up headbutts and unblockable set-ups that require partioning. If you want a second opinion, ask Phix, who is a UK player that goes to the RB's and plays XBL. He says that he can do the partions everytime on live but offline he is all mucked up and he misses everyting as he cannot adjust to the timing. Believe it or not is is actually *easier* to partition in the arcade because the game is a bit slower, but becasue of XBL, you will be trying to do it faster than you should be. It's possible to adapt yes, but why go through this extra work? Urien in my opinion is already one of the most technical characters in 3S anyway, so the last thing you want is MORE to learn.
I hear what you are saying about your scene dieing, but how far away are other SRK'ers? Even if you live like 1hr away from each other, you should try to get 3-4 of you guys together once a month to play, maybe for say 3-4 hours. This will give you something to look forward to every month and when you are not playing, you will be motivated to practice execution so that you can bust your friends up next time you meet up. For example I play HarmoNaz from these forums regularly, and everytime I play him after a break I can *guarantee* that he will have learn at least one new Raging Demon set-up (fuck you Naz, lol). You will notice that when you start doing this, your ability increases rapidly.

Hey Nastadamus dood, when I get on today I'm going to send you a FR so we can battle sometime. Oh-yeah and mad thanks for the props dood, although I'm pretty sure they were directed towards Fred Williams  putting that doods face through that taxi window ya? Man-o-man, Fred Williams is just too cool... dood!

Gunman speaks the truth RE: Urien and xbox/xbl i myself have stopped playing the xbox version altogether as the timing issues were really getting to me , Even simple setups like the midscreen unblockable i find myself missing it more on the ps2 because of it but with practice it can be sorted so i'd rather just play offline when i can and hit training mode the rest of the time .Offline is the truth :lovin:

If you're losing to random scrubs online, it's not the connection it's you.
Not to be an asshole, but that's truth.

I don't know man. If the connection is up and down an unpredictable HP and HK only Ryu, or even worse a jumping HK happy Hugo goes a long long way. I've lost count of the times I've tried to bait and block wakeup Shin Shoryuken only to have the block not come out. That's, what, 60% of your life in one go?
Aside from that, I don't like to pander my game depending on the connection. I'm sure I could win more often in lag fighter this way, but I don't see the point. I tried this recently on what seemed like an unbeatable lag abusing Hugo, I played him at his own game and won both rounds with more than 80% life left. It was mind-numbingly boring.

If lag abuse bothers you that much, develop your own style to deal with it. Seriously - I always moaned about playing turtle players. Even though I have some tricks to get in, if I'm not confident enough - I'll just play them at their own game. Who knows, maybe they are better at turtling - but the very fact that in the middle of match I have openly challenged them at their own cheap game does give you a mental edge.
Find out what things on live give you most trouble. Then develop a lag abusing character based around those trouble points.
This will probably do more harm than good for your offline, tourney level 3s playing. But it will do wonders for your anger management  I've noticed steady increases in how much I've been laughing while playing live ever since I developed my lag abusing Makoto. If any of YOU guys faced her, I probably took her out to learn something as opposed to lag abusing a win from you.
As for the cases where you clearly experience more lag than the other side, just stop playing, walk towards your opponent for awhile and let them hit you. Whether you give them the win or drop yourself... do whatever makes you laugh

Ha, that's what I do:rofl:.
Instead of humiliating myself by playing with a 1 second delay I just keep walking into them, strange thing is though, they all hit Rematch instantly afterwards!?!
Admittedly some do the whole 'frozen wtf' thing on the rematch screen but surely by the fact I gave them 1+ rounds they'd know something was wrong! :arazz:
