Someone emailed this question to me today. I don't have an Xbox so i have no way of figuring it out. I'm hoping one of you guys will have an answer for him.

Trying to find out how the points system for SF3 Third Strike works for online play on xbox cos lots of people have played/won less games then me but still have lots more points. Do you know how it works or have suggestions for where I might find out?

I used to play regularly with a guy that was aiming solely for points. He would only play characters with multi-hit neutral throws, good stun ability and super arts with a large number of hits. For example Twelve2, Chun Li2, Ken2, Makoto2. He'd use the neutral throw excessively to basically get free combos and (for Twelve especially) very high stun damage. From the stun he'd pull out the many-hit super for a combo finish of around 20+ hits. An easy (lame and annoying) way to score mad points.

The guy is no good, but he's currently within the top 10 on the live ranking.

I don't have an exact equation for you, but I'd guess the point total is derived directly from the sum of your match scores.

I think XBL gives more points for a win if your opponent is higher ranked than you and that's it.

you start as an R rank if u beat an ss you get 41 points, s 39, a 37,b 35 every certain amount of games u move up a letter so now your a q rank and you would get 2 less points EX. ss 39, s 37, a 35, b 33 once u get to 1000 games played u get a rank B,A,S,SS depending on your win ratio b 55% or less a 55-60% s 60-70%, ss 70-100% so say your a b-rank u get 3 points for beating another b and 2 more points for beating an a-rank 5points and so on

hope this helps.

Sweet, thanks for the quick responses.

Cheers, that helped a lot - already had a fairly definitive sounding answer.
Still can't register so can't thank him myself but if you get a chance maybe
you could thank GOUTESOU for me?
