Zomg conspiracy theories, where's AHVB?
sounds like the theories people have when an artist leaks a bad album.. "they put fake tracks on there to throw you off" "rns didnt get a complete rip"
id bet a whole lot that wii is the real name and people are taking wishful thinking way too far

Second, it’s not possible to engineer a worse name for this product.
Haha. QFT.

Well, Nintendo is going to lose another round of the console wars.

Stupid Nintendo...they're probably going to lose their grip on the handheld market as well. Assuming they haven't already.

Who needs "wii" when you got Virtual Boy?
Japanese Console Hardware Chart (www.the-magicbox.com)
From: Apr 10 - 16, 2006
System Units Sold Total Sold (Current Year)
Nintendo DS Lite 140,969 827,737
Nintendo DS 37,204 767,773
PlayStation 2 27,549 504,216
PSP 26,340 609,399
Right, so DS with DSLite is selling 177,000 a week, while the PSP doesn't even outsell the original DS. The PSP is 100,000 over the 1/2 million mark, while DS is 100,000 over the 1.5 million mark.
And here is LAST year
2005 Japanese Hardware Sales
From: Dec 27, 2004 - Dec 25, 2005
Units Sold - Total Sold
1 Nintendo DS 4,002,871 5,098,801
2 PSP 2,225,799 2,565,743
So there you have it: Nintendo still has a firm grip on portable.
Unfortunetly I can't supply the US charts cause i don't know a site for it, but i can assure you the PSP isn't outselling the DS. It's probably not AS dominate like in Japan, but it's still outsellin PSP.

Okay, so it is. If you read my post, you'll see I said they will probably lose it, not they have lost it or are losing it.
I stand by my statement: Stupidity like this from Nintendo isn't reassuring for their handheld future, regardless of how well it's performing right now. The SNES dominated pretty well, too. Now they're distant third.
edit: btw, I was on a friend's computer when I posted that.

haha...yeah i was like wtf are you talking about you didn't post.
Nintendo is probably always going to have the handheld market imo, and i think they are using their hold with the ds to sort of gaurentee they do well with Wii. That's if it's as interchangble with the ds as they've sort of said it would be. Now i guess if Wii comes out and crashes hard, it could have an effect on their handheld market, or it might not at all. I think they will be alright though.

Hmm, maybe, just maybe...
What if this change to Wii is just the equivalent to a huge joke just to generate publicity? Then at E3, they announce that it's going back to Revolution or another better name. Think about it.
They just got tons of free publicity and the like, and then they change it back and everybody's happy again. I must say, that would be pretty genius if they did that. If they didn't...
I can still hope.

Eh who knows. The N64 was supposed to be Ultra 64 but reverted back to Nintendo 64.
