This has been bugging me for days now. Last week I had an ear infection. I went to the doctors about it and he gave me a weeks worth of antibiotics. I went back a week later and they said the infection had cleared up and my hearing would come back in 3-4 weeks.

It's now a week later and I can honestly say my hearing's worse. You know when you have a cold and one nostrils blocked up, you roll over on the other side and the snot travels through your face settling on the other side? Well, it's kind of like that. My left ear is blocked and my right ear feels like it has loose fluid in it. If I tilt my head to the side my ear opens up and I can hear properly. It's fucking driving me nuts.

Anyone know what causes ear infections or why the hell my head's filled up with gunk? I wouldn't really like it to happen again.

Well actually I'm not sure if the majority of SRK can help you.

But I got a good suggestion, maybe you should go back to the doctor! You know who I'm talkin about?

Unprotected phone sex. Seriously, though: google "Otitis Media".

I really don't know the cause.

I was in and out of the doctor's office as a kid with ear infections, taking the antibodics all the time and everything and had a hearing loss. For me, the hearing loss was permanent, so I'm partially deaf in my right ear.

If I recall...hearing is basically a product of bones vibrating in your ear. With fluids causing pressure with your ear, your ear bones aren't able to vibrate to their maximum effect.

Infections are caused by fluids in you ear behind your ear drum. In minor cases, antibiotics can clear it up, but in more serious cases operations to cut or drill into your ear to drain the fluid out can be used.

Ditto, left for me tho. All I can hear in the left is bass or low end mid frequencies.
Sucks being partially deaf as a dj. I take extra special care when I go out to clubs or am spinning out now. Ear protection for the win!

i think ive had this problem once... if you sleep on the infected side itll get clogged or something... i dont know.. i think i got it from my swimming class. water would get in my ear and i wouldnt have the opportunity to clean them out till after school... i got it check and waht the doc did was stick a small straw attached to a seringe into my ear and flushed it out...

i dont know if youve seen the tom green show, when he gets his ears cleaned... but it was like that... it was kinda gross. my doc let me hold it in a paper towel. when i piched it, it was like a rock... youd think it would be soft and mushy since the majority is just a snowball of ear wax... nah... like a rock! lol..

go get your ears cleaned

Wait a sec... Go back to the doctor? Good gawd man, do you realize what a dangerous precedent your suggestion could lead too?

Imagine if every SRK'er just went to the doctor instead of asking for medical advice here. Do you really want SRK to go belly up?!
