yes. you heard it right...exodus actually has some gripes about XBL. it's not too far from the whole 'lag tactics' nonsense...and my rant actually spawned after i played xakhillesx...
i've played him a few times in the past without much of a hassle. he gets a few games in here and there, but generally i win...well tonight it was 12-9 his way...granted i have a bitchass headache and am just tired overall from a day's hard work of household duties/yardwork...despite it all...i've never felt more gayed in my life. my connection with him is almost optimal of XBL, short of only offline speed. regardless of that...this guy REALLY takes advantage of the XBL settings...he does his shit as robotic as i do my yun...except he's the biggest throw masher you will ever encounter. im sure everyone can agree to him ticking every goddamn move makoto has in order to get a dash throw/command grab in...and tonight i'm just too pissed to take it.
the moral of the story is...im never going to take it easy anymore. im playing to win. cuz that shit is TOO GAY.

I've always had the exact same complaint about Akhilles. The guy ALWAYS counterpicks me (akuma - Ibuki, Hugo - Makoto, etc) and I must admit I always thought he was really good, but then I slowly copped on to how most of his moves were unconfirmed.
Once I managed to play a shoto against his Makoto and as soon as I saw his super bar I just went into blocking mode. About 3 times in that set I ended up blocking his dash, cr.lk XX sa1 - and following the punishment combos from me - he dropped.
Now this only happened once and he never dropped on me again. He usually gets the upper hand in our sets but I just cannot give this guy GGs because the games aren't good at all.
Unfortunately thats the same with a lot of other srk heads that I play. I get owned by a lot of people on live and I couldn't really give a shit because I know most of those tactics wont hang against me offline. If you owned me on live and I didn't give my usual over-the-top props, its because I was just NOT impressed with your lag abuse. I do hope though that the feeling of 'well I dont give a shit' is mutual between us
From the 'newbies' that have played and gotten wins on me or not on XBL, people like Waggs, Hurricanekick and Atb_555 REALLY impressed me. And I mean like, I GOT SCARED sort of :bgrin: Those guys can port their game to offline without much trouble.
From the veterans however, I'm gonna tread carefully in naming who I think plays this game like an offline player. If I didn't name someone, its either cos I forgot (a lot of you I've only played ONCE and that was ages ago when I was an even bigger scrub than I am now), or I really do think you're style works only in lag.
HunterSFL, Shade, Exo, Rockman, Oboro, Nastradamus, Shinshay, Korin Zynn, Rage, Chai69, Hiko-Chan (Remy, NOT Necro)...
Hmm, ok, I know that the list was much longer than that, but I'm at work and having trouble remembering. Whats ironic is that I have cross continent lag with these guys, yet its with them that I get the best and most enjoyable matches.
Anyways, I'm getting very fed up of XBL lately. The game has LITERALLY EVOLVED into something new based on how you can abuse lag. There's just no point blaming anyone anymore. Lets rename this game to SF3:TS (too slow). After a few games on xbl even I start doing shit like straight jump or empty jump dragon :lame: Fortunately for me, I can just go and play ONE game against a good player offline and ALL those lag tactics get punished. For people who can't do that, I guess you need to find another way. Watching vids maybe? I wish I could suggest something here, but I honestly dont know. You guys have it tough I guess.
FYI, I played Dukus yesterday (one of the UK players that went to SBO), and his game has gotten so much more 'clean'. Dancing around the screen trying to confuse him, or throwing out a random special or super, turtling - almost nothing worked against him. It was only when I started playing a bit more clean and constantly on the move that the games became interesting. I think there was one point in the game where I did a EX joudan with Ryu VERY RANDOMLY in the middle of the screen and it actually hit Dukus - after which you could see he wasn't too happy with his defence being down for that fraction of a moment - I mean who gets hit by that kinda crap??
So for people that don't like being called random or whatever - you really wont know what we're talking about until you play offline seriously. Until you do, you have no place to measure skill on this game.
PS - I'm allowed to measure skill on this game, and I personally think I am crap. Don't try flaming a crap offline player :arazz:
PPS - Dukus recommends going to Japan to EVERYONE! Just make sure you have a translator and lots of money. Make sure you hang out with Tanatos and Pino AB7, as well as Frankie3s. Those guys are major jokers apparently
He also guarantees that most of you will come back wanting to make Yun your main character...

Been saying this for ages. There are so many players doing the 'XBL bullshit rush' that get a lot of props and don't see any problem with their game.
Online it's too easy to rush relentlessly. You don't need to watch what your opponent is doing as he more than likely can't react to what you throw out. When he does try to use an opening to counter he will most likely loose or trade with some high priority attack that he couldn't have seen coming because of lag.
The annoying thing is that you can do this back to them with equal success (have actually tried this!) and the games just go back and forth at about 50/50.
You only see that sort of rushdown in particular match-ups offline line Yang vs Necro. Online hell, you can do it with Alex.
I play Ken and I've stopped using C.MK xx Super ('cept buffered) because it's too hard to confirm online. Pains me to see people throwing this out and landing it by chance, without a second thought.
Harmonaz: Ediepops, The Mullah and KneelB4Me need to be on that list too. No online badness in their games at all!

Yeah, it's all trash. Wasn't I talking to you while I was playing against Akhilles before, Exo? I could swear there was one point where I was getting randomed out, like random super or grab out of MY ticks.
XBL is fun and stuff, but everytime I switch from offline to online play with Chun, I feel so totally neutered, it's not even funny. I really am starting to have a separate style of play while I'm on XBL, which is a more aggressive, normal/throw based Chun since I have no hitconfirm. The problem is that it doesn't really help me to improve my offline game, which typically is a more patient, reactive Chun.
I dunno, I made a thread like this earlier, and I know XBL is just a medium to expose yourself to tactics and strategies, and losing/winning means nothing, but there are just some days when I wanna use 3S to UN-wind when I'm all pissed off, and I find myself mentally envisioning me throwing my stick out the window after I get caught by 3x Alex headstomp or I fail to jab a Stungun cancel off of a shoulder rush.
A lot of the players I would like to play are starting to see XBL as a handicap more than a learning environment, so they aren't around as much anymore, so all I'm left to play with are the retarded scrubs which, while being fun sometimes, doesn't really improve my game.
Anyway, I feel for you, exo.

I know exactly how Exodus and everyone else feels. I like online to a certain point. The lag is shit and the connections seem to be decent only when I'm at work. Overall, I really enjoy playing certain SRK members because the game is played as "offline" as possible. I just hate the feeling of losing to some random fuck abusing their God Tier scrubby lag tactics and thinking to myself "if only we were at an arcade motherfucker....."
I'm saying that shit to myself more and more about more players I challenge nowadays. I hate knowing that if we were playing offline and someone started that scrubby shit, that bitch would be tossing my salad.
I almost feel like driving over my XBOX or dropping it off in some homeless guy's shopping cart in the middle of the night.

I just spoke to Ryan Hart today who came back from Japan after a bit of extended post SBO training. The game is just a different game altogether in Japan he said. Like Dukus though, he really recommends going. He says the Japs are really friendly and they'll always take you around from one arcade to the next, not remembering to point out that they guy weeing in the corner there is probably KO or something

And for the guy who said exo would beat me down offline, maybe he would maybe be not, to me everyone that seems to hype up all certain people. I've played most of the respected players here and I just did not feel impressed by most of them even, why I say that becuse to me all I every see is (LET ME MAkE THIS CLEAR) is SOMEONE ELSE's playing style at use and running the same pattern down. No. 'Thinking ahead' is only half of it. Being able to read an opponent's patterns and predict what they're about to do is important, but so is being able to react to shit. On live, you take away a lot of the react options, which impacts so many characters in a game like 3s, where the parry sometimes just becomes too much of a risk to even try going for. And hitconfirms are blown to hell in lag. Being a Chun player, I know how much it neuters my game.
And for the guy who said exo would beat me down offline, maybe he would maybe be not, to me everyone that seems to hype up all certain people. Uh. He would rape you offline. Period. You play most of the 'respected' players here, and you probably aren't getting their 100% full potential play, since the online probably inhibits a lot of things that they're trying to do.
And besides, I doubt that most respected players aren't trying to impress you, they're probably trying to win, or at the most have fun toying with you as they win. I dunno what you're talking about 'someone else's' style and whatever. Yeah, it might look like Chun players are all the same because they do c.MK xx SA2, or Ken players and their hitconfirms, or a Q that turtles, but most players use what is effective to them and have their own style that builds around these strengths. I wouldn't expect you to be able to see that with the way you play and talk. You can try to 'invent' new styles for the sake of being unique or whatever, but considering how old this game is, I doubt you'll find something groundbreaking in terms of strategic value that is also new. I mean... yeah, you could play Chun and master dash-up partitioned EX SBK or something, that'd probably make you pretty unique, but it wouldn't help you too much.
Before u guys unleash the torches its the truth, in fact if u guys watch urself play u notice that if some one shuts ur pad down u got noting else and then u complain about it.
Uh. I get shut down pretty hard against players like exo, Shinshay, Calipower, and stuff. I don't complain about losing to them, because I know that they aren't whoring tactics that don't work offline; I know they're playing just as they would be playing offline, which is the ultimate goal of most fighting game players anyway. They are better players than I am, so I'm looking to see how I can improve by getting my ass handed to me. I know that by playing them, I won't learn anti-gimmicky-XBL tactics or anti-XBL-styles. Like I'll take Shinshay's Ryu or Ken... I get totally smacked up by his ground game, like whoa. Those c.MKs just come out and hit me out of nowhere. I can respect his game because I know that's how he would be playing and winning offline. Contrast that to a Ken that jumps around all day doing crossups and spamming LP shoryus that I normally would have no problem punishing offline, but can't sometimes because of the delay, or variation in delay (connection on one player being different from a player I just played, etc, rather than everyone being on equal 'speeds', if that makes sense).

Damn Ciddypoo, nice logic.
Rift, everybody is unique and has there own play style. You just haven't gotten to that high of a level where you can actually realize it yet. :arazz:

Shit, I've been bitching about live for years. I get shitted on even when I guess right  Even against good players I will work mad hard to set something up and still get wrecked. Even baiting people to throw out something to parry and actually parrying it is rough sometimes, even in awesome connections.
Btw, random dash in into low mk super = no joke on live.

 I hope I'm not included in that catagory. I try to keep my style as different as possible from other peeps style. Oh wait, you said respected players, never mind... dood.

I think thats what makes keep Live still fun. We all know we miss parries, setups, etc cause of lag. What I love is finding the people who actually play a totally different style using the same character. Like for instance, Astennu, Naz, and shadowstep all play akuma and play very differently. Hard to adapt to thier different styles. Same with Yeah Dood. He will play Chun without SA2. Nobody does that! But you have to adapt to the ever changing styles. Thats my little rant why I like Live. Obviously its not offline, but its still fun to me with a decent connection.
