So I was thinking, impovershed nation, finally my chance to get to play some KOF pros and some Streetfighter on my flight over to Manila.

I find a bunch of arcades in pretty much every mall, SM Fairview, Megamall, Farmer's Market, etc. But the ones that DO have KOF or SF, nobody plays the fucking things. Why? Cus if Filipinos are playing a 2-D fighting game, 99% of the time they're playing SNK vs fucking CAPCOM as if that shit is a real game, much less a good one.

Filipinos, explain yourselves, as you nearly ruined my trip with your shitty taste in fighting games.

The malls there kick ASS compared to American ones, lots of cool shit and I like the atmospheres better. Only thing that sucks about them are 1) tons of Filipino guys are emo fags, and b) Filipinos OPENLY stare at me, and if I am with my girlfriend they openly stare and then talk trash about us in Tagalog (I can understand enough to get the gyst of some of it.)

There are 3 or 4 main malls in Angeles City, I took that pic in Nepo Mall, the comp was pretty tight there for KOF and TTT/T5. I was looking for some 3S comp myself but there were no machines to be found.

I miss balut and shrimp gambas myself. :sad:

So you're going back in December? I noticed you mentioned a potential money problem, you know December is the most expensive month to go right? If you wait til after January 1 the prices drop, sometimes by 50%. One year I only paid $550.00 round trip. I'll be heading back in February myself, low prices, escape the cold, and no rain that time of the year over there. :tup:

Ack. I've no clue either. It's almost as popular as Tekkens at the nearby mall. :x I watch it mostly. I never know it was huge in Metro Manila as well.

It also might be because they love the Max mode and GCFS bullshit, but bloody hell. KOF 2k2 does the former better, and NGBC improved on GCFS and some of SvC's engine.

I'd say it's because MVS bootlegs are really cheap and easy to obtain here, but the better malls/arcades have the Atomiswave SNK games already. Oh, God.

In its defense, Metro Manila has really good Marvel/KOF/GGXX/3s people. Davao City as well, and maybe Cebu.

And yes, we've great kiddies here. I've fought some of the little beasts at Marvel and Project Justice.

Ei, you can also visit SM North Edsa. The number of KOFXI players are starting to grow and we also have decent 3S players too. Don't worry about the SVC players, you can ignore them.

Contrary to popular belief BH and Sim were dominating where I was playing at. Some hella tight Bisons too. People don't give this game a chance because it's not seizure-ville like the other versus games, but it's actually one of the most balanced versus games as well. It plays more like a methodical Street Fighter than balls out versus game.

Some mexican guy told me that, in high levels, they think KoF 2k2 and 98 are the only good ones. He saids that 2k3 and Neowave are like CFJ to them. Nobody gives a damn about those games. He also told me that mosty developing countries think in the same way, and KoF forums are filled with 2k2 in the same way that srk is filed with Marvel...

Anyways, thanks for the offer, if I remember I'll contact you when I am in the PI again. Sucked I couldn't find anyone to play oldskool KOF, Super Turbo or SFA3 with in the PI...but by then I will probably have learned some new games, they are trying to get me to play KOF XI here, so I'll grudgingly learn (nothing is better than 98 or 2k2 though IMO).

Sucked I couldn't find anyone to play oldskool KOF, Super Turbo or SFA3 with in the PI...but by then I will probably have learned some new games, they are trying to get me to play KOF XI here, so I'll grudgingly learn (nothing is better than 98 or 2k2 though IMO).

No. I was in Manila two weeks looking at every mall I went to looking for these games, since they're some of the only games I play decently. Ask one of the Filipino gamers here to tell you where to go if you specifically wanna play some international talent in these games, or else you will be fucking dissapointed. I have heard Ali mall by Farmer's is the best place for games, but I went to lots of different places in Manila without seeing 2k2 or SFA3. In fact I didn't see any streetfighters other than Third Strike at SM Fairview.

I wouldn't go to the Philippines for fighting games or you'll be dissapointed. Better plan is to go because it's a very cool country completely different than the states and maybe meet up with some SRKers and play some games there, cus it's far from gaming mecha IMO.

Don't believe ronninbuddha. A3 cabs are scarce. But Airthrow is right, you have to ask filipino gamers(like me btw) to know where the competition is.

Farmers AliMall are for players who crave SF3 3rd Strike Competition. SM Sucat is one and currently housing the current SF3 champion here in the Philippines.

SM North Edsa is for GG XX Slash scene.

Robinsons for the best MvC2 scene and MvC2 cabs can be found anywhere it's only second to Tekken 5 cabs in terms of availability.

Tekkens are everywhere. I dont know where the best is unfortunately.

The best VF4 Final Tuned player here is currently playing Tekken 5 and World of Warcraft and he's Korean too. If you wanna play I'll give him a ring.

I forgot where the best KOF guys are right now. Seriously, they're the 2nd most annoying gaming crowd to be with(They got beaten by the Guilty Gear freaks).

CvS2 crowd went to SM Sta. Mesa

SFA3 crowd went dead after the japanese guy left the Philippines after his 5+ years stay here. But before he left, I think he got beaten in the tournament by the people he taught how to play SFA.

I'm playing Wow right now with the current Soul Calibur champion here. They have a solid scene and I'll talk to him if ever you want to play.
