I'm in Emeryville just about every day now. Where do you Oakland cats play now? I spent some time trying to find the oak tree only to discover that it's "under construction" until further notice. What's up?

Let me know where I can find some good 3s/CVS2/Tekken comp somewhere in the East bay.

Damn I was just down there a few days ago looking around for some comp.
I'm not from the bay, i'm from Stockton, went to the other side to look for some comp.
Next time I have to go down there, i'll pm you, maybe we could meet up somewhere and play a few rounds.

I work in Emeryville; if I get off work by about 7 (depends on how much there is to do) I tend to drop by Fairfield Tilt on a roundabout way home. I mainly play MvC2 though, these days. But they've got basically every other game you could ask for out there.

Isn't Fairfield about 1 hour away from emeryville? Sucks not having a decent arcade around the area.

There is an arcade in Emeryville at the fiesta market that has 3rd strike, MVC2, and an ultracade, not to mention tekken 4 and VF4. Problem is, nobody plays there and the arcade is unkept. There would be huge opportunity for a spot there if we could entice the manager into giving a shit, but that's just wishful thinking.

Nothing closer to the oakland area besides SFSU, eh? Guess I have to cross the bay bridge to get my game on. It would be on if the Bearcade wasn't peaced out.

In clear traffic it's about a half hour from Emeryville to Fairfield, give or take. That's about what it usually takes when I go there in the 7 PM hour, anyway. It's actually closer to Emeryville than it is to Novato by about ten minutes. I've been going there because it's still probably the closest one to home that I know of that has MvC2, and I don't have to go over a toll bridge to get there from home. (From work, it's simply a choice of whether I go over the Carquinas or the San Rafael on my way home, which makes little difference.)

I didn't know there was a place in Emeryville. The only arcade I've found in my own county is in Northgate Mall in San Rafael, which has Tekken games but no MvC2. If the arcade owner could be convinced to actually maintain a few machines though, I could be convinced in turn to start showing up there if others would. Unfortunately, low attendance and low maintenance tend to be a rather vicious cycle.

you can try Southland mall, they have an arcade over there with SC2, T5, and GGXX(forgot which version, most likely its the original)

stiltman the arcades in emeryville suck hot ass. nobody plays mvc2 because sticks been broken for about 4 years now and the buttons suck. the spacing is worst than fairfield's mvc2 cabinet. o yeah they:rofl: have the american buttons that hurt your hand after you mash.

Undercuts I'll see you this friday.

Scrubkiller I don't think anyone has ever complained about the sticks or even suggested that fixing them up might bring in some more customers; he probably doesn't even know they're fucked. I figure I can talk some shit and get things moving a bit; maybe then we can get things bumpin' in the east bay.

I remember when Northgate had MVC2. I used to drive from SR to get my game on(got my ass kicked.)

Nobody gets together to play at their casas? Let's get it on.

I prefer arcades over going to people's houses. If you go to someone's house you're guaranteed to never have anyone other than the people there, whereas at an arcade there's always a shot that someone else will come along to play.

I don't even have a DC any more, although I've got a stick floating around somewhere.

You know, it's really silly that you and I haven't met yet. Are you the desk with all the Capcom posters in suite you-know-what? I think I've been by there after you've left for the night and I've seen what I think is you sitting at it when I go in there for Dr. Pepper but I haven't ever gone over and said hi. I'm thinking of the one more or less dead center down the hallway from the door here.

Yes, it would be hard not to figure out that that is my desk, ha. All sorts of Capcom stuff is laying around there from various Capcom collections and, well, other such development.

You and I are the only actual fighting game players there, but we have no games in common.

Oh yeah, we have to play. I'd be down most for maybe some Sliz. Got to get my Jam up to par, though.

Hey I agree that the oakland scene is near dead, but not completely yet. Since most of the local arcades are either shut down or just plain suck and have no competition, I have started collecting my personal favorite arcade cabinets. So far I have SF Alpha3 and SF3: third strike. If anyone is interested in playing, send me a PM. Heres the deal, machines are on free play, and all are welcome to come play regardless of skill, race or affiliation. Just no attitudes and no hurt feelings. My partners and I certainly talk a little head when we play, but its all in good sport, if you dont like that then dont bother coming. No one has to pay anything to play obviously, but donations of beer, food and other things are always welcome. Im leaving town for the next 3 weeks on wednesday so if you are interested hit me up and we will work something out for mid august. I would like to see this become an ongoing thing with good competition and possibly some cash tourneys in the future if people are down. Ideally I will be meeting people first before I invite them into my home, so that means dont show up with a bunch of strangers unannounced or you might get a door closed on ya. Other then that, I hope there are still some players left in the area that have even a marginal amount of skill who would like to come represent. For those that said the oakland scene is dead....I hope to hear from you soon. Laters

It's Coco (Lenzi). For those who are a bit unfalmiar with me, I'm that chick who use to hang out with DR.B and his patnas playing S-Groove in CVS2. Does Oak Tree have that game? If so, how can I get there from Fremont? I'm looking for fresh new comp. Trying to get back in da game!

THANKS!

Fremont- my home town.

If you're on BART, take it to the 12th St station, go down Broadway to 15th St, and make a right. You should see it a few doors down. (242 15th St.?)

Ok let set the Record straight.

The OakTree will be open for the rest of the Year and more than likly close down forever:sad: I have tried for years to keep that place afloat.Thats why I have ventured off to other Arcades.I have been a member of OakTree since 1988:looney:

So if you do catch the random days he is open Sticks/Buttons may vary:sad:

Oaktree Is the ONLY Arcade I know that has a On the Site Mechanic that wont fix the games:annoy: :annoy: :annoy:

Years back I told him to get DDR/CvS2/T5/Initial D he only got DDR hes a Cheap Bastard.(And now he smoked off DDR WTF)

OakTree has never seen a Wico/360 controller he uses happ 8-way & Inverted buttons.

OakTree has the Following Games - 3s/MvC2/CvS1/Kof/A3/Rival Schools {50cent for almost all}

Hey I have my memories of that Place But I will probably Never Go Back:sad:
