I think we need to hold a tourny to settle all of the ARC drama.
how about A3, MVC2, and maybe MVC1 does that sound all right. if we could find a day that suits all of us and start early i think we could get a decent turnout. i dont know if we can set the machines for free play but its only a quarter, not that big of a deal.

This is Matt going to sac state was fun and everbody was really cool. omega kicked my butt at least i killed one of his characters and my rocket punch almost helped me win. thanks again to everbody at sac state omega, ts and everbody else for inviting us to that alphateam meeting sorry i couldnt stay longer but had to get home maybe next time i wil stay longer. i have talked to Kevin who is the head of the ARCade and he said if i wrie a proposal for some meeting i can have weekly or biweekly tournaments. i think i can get the machines on free play so to enter the tournament it would be like 2 or 3 bucks. Hey crew of the ARC are you guys willing to band together and play against the crew of Davis. I believe that you guys would dominate. Since the Davis vs Berkley tourny is going on without any invitation to us. I beleive that they forgot that we even have an arcade or that we just suck and that we should not be reconized. Either way I ask of the players to band together and play against the UCD crew. If we agree to join up and play I will announce an official challenge to them.

This is one of the guys from Berkeley who is setting up the UCD vs UCB event...

Just to help out, you guys should make sure UCD has a certain game before making a tournament for it. For instance, they don't have 3S. So even though Berkeley has 3S, we're not going to play 3S with them.

Just wondering, What is/was the best arcade you've ever been to (more importantly, where is/was it)??? I miss haveing an arcade in every mall across the world. Alladin's Castle at Arden Fair, Tilt in Counry Club (ok, that one sucked, but I went to school right down the street from it. I mean come on, they had price tags on all their machines), and I miss Q-Zar damn it. Celtic Warriors unite.

OH, and he's a weekly (monthly, yearly, whatever) challenge for you: How fast can you beat Super Mario Bros. 3 on 2 player mode (with a friend) without using any warp whistles. Sol Badass and myself (and random guy) tried it but it took us 7 1/2 hours. I'm sure we could have done it a lot faster, but the NES crashed, and we got really..... odd after a while. AND NO STRATAGY GUIDES OR CHEATING OF ANY KIND!!!

Why not? I thought you lived for competition. Well I guess I was wrong and you just talk the talk but do not walk the walk. And i do not think you are Jeanette, so do not assume anything. I will ask her myself and if she says no then fine. But I would like her to respond and not a middle man. Plus Kevin agreed and so did Doug, and I think that Orochi guy might be interested.

And I am pretty good at MvC 1 and a fair player that can hold his own at MvC 2. It would be a fun little tourny. If you dont want to be a part of it then fine I could care less, but the AR team needs good players. so if you join then the team will have five with domination in 3 of the 4 games. They might win Tekken or some other game I might throw in for them so they dont feel bad losing.

Well out of fairness to everyone at hand I would ask the Davis crew to have it in a neutral location, and for rides we can figure something out. My car fits like 3 or four depending how big people are and I am happy to give rides.

Well I really do want Jeanette on the team and I would try to schedule the tourny around her schedule.

Well, I'm not sure if I'm speaking for everybody at Davis, but I wouldn't mind playing at the Gameroom. Though, I guess it all depends on what games you want to play. You've seen the Davis Arcade, Hacker, you know it's kinda lacking in games (i.e. pretty sorry.) It basically has Alpha 3 and all the vs. series games, not bad. But we have Street Fighter 3, the first release, and Tekken 3. That's pretty bad.

And any competition is all good. If we can get some kinda of round robin thing going on for all of Nor Cal, I think that'd be great. I don't see why anybody would count themselves out already, based on who plays for either side. It's just a friendly competition between areas. Team competition seems more involved than individual competition. Just keep us posted on any new info about any competition, or if you need any info from us.

I haven't gone to ARC for a semester or two (note to self: work sucks, go back to school), but I'd be glad to compete for ARC team in A3 or MvC2, as I've been sucking less now than in previous weeks. I can even block low now, which is like, sweet.

Yay, I finally got a copy of MvC2, I think I'll start playing in the ARCade now. I swear (I don't really do it that much), trying to LEARN that game in there is next to impossible, there are some diehard players, but I've never seen so many cocky assholes in my life. There's actually an interesting story behind that game and the death of a wonderful home video game console known as the Dreamcast.

Once upon a time, a wonderful company known as Service and Gadgets Inc. (SEGA) found a very welcoming place in the booming home console market of the late 1980's. They soon became giants in the field, always present, yet never superior to their opponent, the Hardware and Software giant Nintendo Co. ltd. After releasing their Mega drive (Genesis), the sequel to their Master System, they enjoyed a year in the limelight. Then the SNES jacked the spotlight back. Sega released useless gadget after useless gadget, hoping to regain the lead, yet Nintendo said "Sit on this and rotate!", while tauntingly brandishing their middle finger.

Fast-forwarding this anecdotal history lesson to 9.9.99, Sega released their ultimate creation - The Dreamcast. Celebrating the launch of the ultimate Arcade-Frendly home console, many die-hard gamers pawned their crappy Playstations and went down to their local Dairy Queens for a delicious DQ Creamblast to commemorate the momentous occasion. They spent more money to hype their new system than Sega ever earned off of their console, and plunged a dagger in the backs of Sega.

Sega would have been able to put up an fiercer fight if it weren't for the fact that they didn't pour fistfulls of dollars into making their systems annoyingly piracy protectant. That uniquely "un-Sony" feature made it easy for basement hackers and homebrewers to rip their favorite DC games into ISO images, and copy The GD Roms onto regular low-grade five cent CDRs. The "Why buy games when you could make 'em for free" philosophy stole lots and lots of money from Sega's proverbial purse on payday . Sega folded like one of the many rolls on Cryptie's girlfriend, and Sony reigned over the Videogame market with their overly shoddy system.

Umm as for Davis being better that Cal, in the national ranking Davis only has one thing that they outrank Cal and that's in the biology department. Nope to be honest with you. I liked the environment around Davis, its a nice quiet little neighborhood and I'm enjoying myself here more than I would at Berkeley. I easily would have made Berkeley with a 4.5, 1410 SAT but its a nice quiet neighborhood here.

And consorting with our caliber is not juvenile at all. The fact that you would look at us at immature kids astounds me. Since most of us, really outage you. As a rebutal to that, you can't judge us without really talking and knowing us. I will not call you immature straight off without talking to you face and face and knowing more about you. I only ask you to judge us the same.

I think you misjudged us because of one mishap. I reassure you, that if you ever come down to the Davis arcade again, and find one of us, we would be more than happy to talk to you and not really "complain" about a team being used.

Damn, Kevin - those are some harsh words. My tauntings may have gotten in the way of my true goal - to raise my Capcom Fighting skill level to LVl337 through extensive training and communication with fellow local gamers.

But as someone who wants to master in Dan usage at all Capcom fighters with him in them, taunting seems to come with the territory. Some people, however, react to my chouhatsu technique with anger and indifference. Can they not appreciate the masterpiece that is my loving disrespect?

I need to gain massive skills in ALL styles of Video Game fighting, and I need an isightful trainer, like that Mr. Miyagi guy off of that Three Ninjas movie.

Who shall answer my call? All I have to offer is this copy of Earthbound for the SNES that looks pretty damn good..

I used to get beatup every F****** Thanksgiving at a family reunion. I was 4, they (yes THEY!!!) were 13+. Then something got around of Asian = chinese = karate (that's so wrong, karate's japanese), and so three of them decided to "test" me at random! WTF! I have to call these people FAMILY!!! At this time I was 13, which is sad cause at least one guy was 24, and some how (out of luck I think) they went down. I was never bothered again and now I enjoy these family gatherings ^_^.

Recently, someone out there seens to have been listening to our suggestions. The space-hogging Hydro Thunder has finally been removed. This leaves some extra room for even better machines. My proposal is for some decent machines to complement our already decent repertoire. My personal suggestions would be:

:)CvS2 - There's even an empty space in the ARCade where it should be!

:)Guilty Gear XX - Arc Systems innovative new fighter which I haven't had the privelage of trying due to the current price of import PS2s

:)Ultracade - with such favorites as SSF2 Turbo, Ghosts and Goblins, Toobin, and about every other game you could find in a early '90's pizza parlor. It should replace the dust-magnet Rush 2 machine

:)One of those Old-Skool Multiple SNK Neo-Geo Cabinets With Samurai Showdown, Fatal Fury and Magical Drop (!!)
