Just played this game today for the first time. This game has cool(though slightly depressing) visuals & style to it....

But eh, it just plays shitty and really awkward. So far all it really has going for it is 'looks' with not much else.

I'm suprised to see it was rated highly. I wanted to like this neat looking game but looks like i'll pass in the end, "playing" it is kinda lousey. It gives a whole new meaning to "Gaming-on-rails".

Did YOU like Killer 7?

Yes. Rails did not bother me at all.

Gamecube version was better.

Con Smith ftw.

This game is so underrated. The music is too good. (A few months ago, a few friends and I drove out to the middle of the desert at 3 in the morning listening to the soundtrack. Scary stuff).

And I want Harman's gun.

Yeah, the Gamecube version loads faster and looks a little better too. It's one of my favorite games.

Eh it was alright. The control kinda threw me, the whole controled path thing was weird. I never finished it tho, heard the story was good.

Bahh! Well i got past the first level, took me a bit though because i had to find the stupid "soul shells" to get past the gatekeeper. Wished i coulda shot the damned gatekeeper and moved on.

Anyway i'm in the next level where the area of having to use coyote's "special skill" to jump up or something, but i can't get the damn thing to work.....

Killer 7 rules. I got it for 20$, and while I'm completing it very slowly, it's such a trip!

I really like the comic book series so I definitly want to check it out. I like how at least the comic works oh now our world would be if certain historical events turned out differently. But as far as the game goes I hear this is one of those games that you are either going to really like or really hate. Thanks for letting me know the Gamecube version is better though, I'll hold out until I but a Wii and rent the Gamecube version first for a few days to see if I like it or not.

I like it. Rails is fine. Streamlines the game play. I wouldn't want every game to be on rails, but likewise, I wouldn't want every game not to.

There is a really good faq on GAemfaqs that explains the various levels on which the story works, political, individual human, and spiritual. Pretty fun read, and interesting.

No suprize to hear that blood_sin, the infamous MGS2 fan, also likes this game. They are two of the most existential, post-modern games in existance.

I would name Takashi no Chojin and the Mother series as two others in the post-modern genre.

Basically, if you like weird shit, you'll probably like Killer 7.

I had it for the gamecube. It literally made me sick to play it. I hated it.

uh, so the GC version is the better of the two?

Yeah, GC version is better.

I like the game a lot. It feels like a text adventure to me for some reason.

Well i got past the second level and eh...i've had enough of this crap. Sure the visuals and overall style of the game is cool, but also creepy(not good way either), and sorta depressing too. Too dark/dull/etc.

Then there is the gameplay or lack thereof. The rails i kinda got used to after awhile, but not the general & awkward gameplay stuff. Kinda feels claustrophobic. Shooting was neat, dan smith was my favorite character, but that was the only part of the game i actually liked.

Forget it, would rather play something else.

I just started playing this game today, it's visually impressive and the rail gameplay isn't that bad once you get use to it but for some reason I couldn't play long. It's not or anything scary or anything just...distrubing.

Didn't think that would be bother since I've seen worse in manga and movies but actually playing through this type of stuff in video game form is a different experience.

I think it's that claustrophobic effect that comes from the on-rail gameplay.

One of the best games I've played this gen. Not for everyone, though, be it due to the gameplay or the subject matter. I favored Dan Smith as well.

Exactly. I got bored around the 3rd level though.

Personal favorite Smith? ...Con, def.

Killer 7 was a you'll love it or hate it type of geme...the story is insanly complex and tons of things have meaning to it. Simply put one playthough isn't enough to comprehend the mindrape this game can give you. This game is heavily story driven so don't expect the gameplay to be anything memorable. I liked each of the killer 7 assasins for various reasons but yes Con was my fave. (but Dan's Demon gun was sweet!)

oh and the music in between the gatekeeper areas (Rave on) is too good!

I like Con at first because I thought his dual gun wielding would help me owned more but alot of times I ended up missing the critical spot (I'm playing on Normal), I'm guessing the this could be fixed by upgrading Waver but I'm back to Dan Smith and Kadae as my mains and a spice of Mask every now and then (is it possible for him to get blood from enemies? Seems like I get very little or non at all).

So far I'm on stage 2</Killer 7 log>.

He looked cool. Other than that, i practically forgot about him. Dan Smith was my favorite.

I really liked the game, i got it the day it came out. I even got that stupid whistle with it. One of my favorite moments of the game was with the battle with Curtis Blackburn.

Also it should be interesting to note that there was a larger story intended for the game. However, it would've cost to much and we ended getting a shorter version. The Full story was published in a JPN only book, but the guy who did the plot outline on Gamefaqs translated it.

This thread made me buy Killer 7 for gc. It was only 15 dollars at blockbuster sooo... Anyways I'm enjoying the game my only gripe is when the "Heaven Smile" Attack and the screen trips out it often leaves me vulnerable. It makes it very hard to recover and finish killing a wave of them.

Love the visual style and shooting is excellent, navigating levels is a little difficult sometimes. Otherwise good game. Favoring Con and Coyote smith. Actually I tried Kaede once and find her interesting.

I'm getting DREs on my GC so I can't finish the game atm but I ya I was hating the when you get to a part with like 3 Smiles coming at you in a small area but depending on how you level your character you'll learn "counter-attacks" so anyone getting close to you gets instant-owned. Dan's is the best I've seen so far in terms of style.

Con is (or was) back as one my mains. His runs the fastest and has a super quick turn-around when running (I think Kevin's has the fastest one).

Yep, nice story, art, style, and music.

Kaede Smith was my fav; I guess I like sniping. Auto-aim critical shots was a nice upgrade and shes pretty hawt <3

I also enjoyed the Curtis Blackburn fight. It was different for a boss fight.

Here's a trailer for another game (for the Wii) of Suda51 that has that Killer 7 style.

id buy it for ps2 but i saw a video of it and it looked awkward. like moving a crosshair into a small pixel so you can instantly kill a slow moving zombie thing.

is this shit time crisis without the action or feel good feeling of killing dudes?

You don't have to instantly kill it by hitting the weak part. And the action is pretty intense if you don't act quickly enough. When the "zombies" are knocked onto the ground if you shoot thier legs, they move faster and are harder to shoot. Don't expect a on rails shooter like time crisis. It's on rails but you're fully in control of when you want to stop your character from moving and shoot.

Ah, I played K7 through again; I love it to death.

Favorites include Coyote and of course Dan.
I'm liking Kaede more, but her gun 'kicks like a mule' and makes precision difficult.

Travis Touchdown. Suda is a genius. :lovin:

Haha, yeah; Heroes is just another reason why I'll be getting a Wii.
The voice acting was super cheesy, but I think that's what he was going for...I hope.

By the way, does anybody find it suspicious that Coyote is a master thief and Puerto Rican? I do.

I was waiting for Lion to make an appearence and say "WHY AM I SOOO GREAT!!!"

The only real gripe I had with K7 (and reading this thread makes me want to play it again) was that each person only had one sound for shooting the weak points. Hearing "Hurts, doesn't it?" got pretty old fast.

Heroes looks great, voice acting was cheesy, but I think they were going for that, K7's kinda was too. Travis Touchdown is a great name.
