I dont know if its SF 2 or not but Ryu is a resin statue and is not part of any round. They will probably announce the winners of round 6 tomorrow or saturday.

SOTA is going to release one figure a month from now on, and all figures will be online only. Zangief will probably the first, with Dee Jay the month after, followed by the missing Juni/Juli, Guy, and Rolento.

Jerry said the votes for Series 6 were never counted because, as he put it, "It doesn't matter anymore due to the new availability"

So no more rounds or bulk buying, one a month from now, kinda good, kinda bad...meh.

EDIT: Shit, just saw the other links.

Well that's just plain out "gay". Oh well.

Screw you too SOTA!

Well, since SOTA can't afford to produce the numbers needed from the large retailers, SOTA is forced to go on-line because these figures just aren't selling. Why pay high distributor costs to a few small retailers when they can save the cash and just sell this way. I'm not too crazy about going on-line either but at least he didn't cancel it altogether.

Online only huh? Oh well, guess Sota has to do what they gotta do. Would be hella nice if they got all of the SF characters over time.

Dee Jay is spot on, but Zangief's Traps are WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too big. And he's got a hunchback for no apparent reason.

I know he stands that way in the game, but he also stands straight up in his victoly poses.

did he say when zangief would be released? 12 figures a year is still more than they have been releasing in the past.

sorry for this mis information cent208 bout the results maybe being annoucned today, and thanks for the info Infested Jester. One fig a month sounds alright to me if SOTA can stay on schedule then that means 12 figs a year which is pretty good IMO.

As long as this doesn't mean that the line is getting cancelled as soon as a figure sells badly... I mean, I'm getting Juni and Juli and every other Doll they bother to release, but I hardly think that month's character(s) is gonna sell too well to the general public...

cent208
07-21-2006, 03:32 PM
everyone should buy them even if you don't like the character just to support SOTA so they can eventually release every character.

That's what I've been doing, getting every set so far except Blanka. But they're easier to track down in sets, especially when you need to pay for expensive imports. And I won't dare to wait until I can get five at once, since the first ones will probably be out of stock by then...

Jerry officially announced that the first, of what would have been Round 6, figure will be announced in January. The new site goes up in October for ordering as well. No official date on when Zangief will be ready, but I expect it to be sooner than later due to the new way figures will be released and the abscence of Juli/Juni, Guy, and Rolento. After thinking about it some more I think this is a great move for SOTA financially and for the customers not having to wait 9 months + for something new.

Oh yeah, this Gouken figure is fucking awesome.

Looking at all the bad-ass stuff NECA has at their booth this year, and looking at the very sad showing SOTA had. Two out of 5 prototypes, and awesome FALL OUT BOY figures...

...really makes me wish NECA had somehow grabbed the SF licenes instead.

Apprently round 5...or ahem, the FIRST figure of that set won't see release until march of 2007! What have they been doing all this time???

NECAs overall quality is ass though....as much I love RE and the look of the figures, they could be MUCH better. Also SOTAs new site is due up in October, Jerry didn't give any dates as to when Zangief would be released. Due to this one figure a month deal however I doubt its gonna take them 9 months to get him out. He said the first pick for Round 6 would be told around December/January....so I'm hoping you are wrong as to this March 2007 date....where did you hear that?

I completely agree. The only line I've ever been interested in of NECA's was the RE4 line and even that had some quality control issues. NECA's has a good habit of grabbing all the licenses that fans want (usually for McF to do but NECA always grabs them first) but afterwards, most of the sculpts come out looking terrible.

I'm happy with SOTA doing SF. I think they doa great job (although I was a bit disappointed with Akuma), and I don't mind if they're on-time or late - just as long as they still get them out and they still look and operate like they should.

And I wouldn't be all that surprised to hear of a March '07 release, their dates are always off by 6 months or so.

I agree Akuma was very dissappointing and fei long was okay. I have the Resarsus Akuma, it totally smokes the SOTA Akuma. Just curious, what happened to resarsus?

Resaurus bellied up years ago. Some rumors say it was because of poor distribution, some say it was poor quality. I have to agree on both though, it as hard as hell to find the figures at retail, and these figures did break pretty easily.

I have both P1 & P2 Akuma's and yeah, they did a great job. I just regret outting down that P1 Sagat a long, long time ago.

Gief looks pretty good, Dee Jay looks great.

Can't wait to see how Rolento will look.

I picked up a Resarus Evil Ryu in Germany a few years back. It was pretty badass. I would have loved to have picked up some of the SF3 characters in the Resarus

I'm not into the SOTA line much at all. Too many moving parts I reckon. The figures I buy are for display and some times for reference. Each to their own I guess.

But if SOTA release some more SF3 Characters (Gill, Urien, Dudley, Yun, Makato) I'll most likely pick them up. Since no one else looks like they'd make these characters 3D anytime soon :(

Have you guys seen the Jazware Figures? What was the story there? They look terrible! How did the get license get split in two or something? I thought they were illegal knockoffs when I saw them (Especially with the Joe Mad art on the backing card!)

I heard Jerry from SOTA said himself Round 5 won't be out this year for sure.

I might be wrong on that MARCH date though, because since I live in Canada, I usually have to wait 3-4 months for SOTA products to reach here. You know, Canada is very, very far in regards to the US.

The reason why I prefer NECA, is because I like action statue poses, alot more then bad-looking articulation. While it works for some characters in SOTA'S SF line, when they DON'T work, it's pretty horrible. Ibuki/Sakura are great examples.

The other reason I like NECA, is because they'r products come out in a timely fashion.

Along with RE, and their upcoming gaming line, Lara Croft, Agent 47, Kain...etc, I love their horror lines, Friday the 13th, Kill Bill, etc.

And I haven't had one NECA product break on me once. McFarlane? I think ALL my McFarlane's have some defect or very easily breakable feature.

Those Jazzwares figures look absolutately horrible. I just saw them in a Kaybee last week. I was wondering too, how they got the license. Anybody know how?

WTF??

now, before you start going crazy, I agree the resaurus ones have owned all others for some time (and wish they would be re-issued) but i think sota did a good job with akuma/shin akuma, the latter being my fave thus far. in regards to u guys being dissapointed, I think you might as well may have bought the CVS 2 version @ SDCC which TRULLY is work of SHIT.

About the JazWares SF figures:

Basically, JW purchased a special agreement license from SOTA to distribute cheap, mass-retail versions of SOTA's SF figures. SOTA's SRP on their figures were too high, and they don't have the capability to produce the numbers that mass-retail (like KB or TRU) would ask for, so JW jumped in with this offer. These figures do have an almost identical sculpt but lack the articulation and use a much lesser quality of plastic. I think they look like shit as well.

Switcher: I hear you, but I just like McF's quality, sculpts and paints more. I've heard numerous fans bitch about how easy McF's stuff breaks but you know, I've covered their stuff for review for nearly three years and not a damn thing has broken on me (except for one Predator and that was after he took a dive).

CptMunta: I've heard that SOTA is already getting started on SF3 figures. Gill, Alex and Urien were all part of the voting cast so the thought is there.

Thats good. They definately need more balance b/w the different series. The only 2 SF2 characters left are honda and sim. Most of the alpha characters are done. But there are no SF1 only characters and only 2 SF3 characters. And yes I was very happy to see Maki and Geki in the last voting.

So wait....my reserve for series 5 is now belly up? One figure a month is great and all, but I'd really prefer to pay shipping once for a bulk set than pile up the fees for every single figure. That said, I won't throw my support behind this approach until the figures actually start shipping on time. If that happens and production actually speeds up enough to round out the SF3 cast as well, I'll be a pig in shit, regardless of the extra shipping I'll get stuck with.

According to Jerry shipping will be free inside the US minus Alaska and Hawaii.....thats what hes "said" so far at least.

Fair enough. So do I cancel my order w/Corner Store then? I'm actually a little strapped for cash right now so the revamp was well-timed if nothing else.
