It's called "Mr. President"
These are the lyrics... what do you think?
Dear Mr. President
Come take a walk with me
Let's pretend we're just two people and
You're not better than me
I'd like to ask you some questions if we can speak honestly
What do you feel when you see all the homeless on the street
Who do you pray for at night before you go to sleep
What do you feel when you look in the mirror
Are you proud
How do you sleep while the rest of us cry
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye
How do you walk with your head held high
Can you even look me in the eye
And tell me why
Dear Mr. President
Were you a lonely boy
Are you a lonely boy
Are you a lonely boy
How can you say
No child is left behind
We're not dumb and we're not blind
They're all sitting in your cells
While you pave the road to hell
What kind of father would take his own daughter's rights away
And what kind of father might hate his own daughter if she were gay
I can only imagine what the first lady has to say
You've come a long way from whiskey and cocaine
How do you sleep while the rest of us cry
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye
How do you walk with your head held high
Can you even look me in the eye
Let me tell you bout hard work
Minimum wage with a baby on the way
Let me tell you bout hard work
Rebuilding your house after the bombs took them away
Let me tell you bout hard work
Building a bed out of a cardboard box
Let me tell you bout hard work
Hard work
Hard work
You don't know nothing bout hard work
Hard work
Hard work
Oh
How do you sleep at night
How do you walk with your head held high
Dear Mr. President
You'd never take a walk with me
Would you

People say she's burly, but I think she's hot.
Also, I have no opinion on the song. Is she trying to gain popularity a-la dixie chicks?
I mean we all hate the president in all, its part of being american, this seems like its trying to sell a record.

i just wish this country would get off its collective ass and really tell congress and the bush administration what they think about them. its so fucking frustrating seeing things take place that don't represent what we want to take place.
if a bush like candidate is president in 08 i'm going to riot, even if its just by myself and a few of my friends. i wish democrats would get a fucking backbone and a working tongue and speak their minds. the democratic party is so disappointing to me. i should have registered as an independent. the republican party has all but laid down and died and the democracts STILL can't capitilize. =/

Celebrities with political agendas always just piss me off. Its not like they're stating anything out of the obvious and their fans are easily swayed just because their idol said so. Celebrities will go and say stupid shit, making themselves feel self important. I don't like Bush but I also don't like my music tainted by political rhetoric either.

i dont even think bush is representing his own base anymore. they're just doing whatever now.
its so frustrating. they're making americans look like idiots. i've got a rant but i'll post it in the thread i made about the israel/lebanon situation. pink is 3 years too late with this song. i think she's doing it because she's fed up too, but still. why did it take ppl this long to realize that this guy and his administration would be the downfall of america, pretty much? i was so PISSED OFF and disappointed on november 3.
and fuck the democratic party. i wish they'd stop sucking the conservatives dicks and actually grow a backbone and turn this country around. niggas are scared to be liberal nowadays. its disgusting. i can't wait til the last few months before the next presidential election. i'll DEFINITELY be in the streets. fuck. that.
and for the record, i feel like pulling a ghetto gaggers on ann coulter. stupid alien looking slut. that bitch looks like the giraffe from the toys r us commerical, and she has the audacity to make fun of other ppl and call them out of their name or sexuality. fucking tranny.
my head hurts.

Fuck Pink. This song is a load of shit. She's just cashing in on the popularity of being anti-Bush. Fuck Americans who don't even read the fucking newspaper but now have a deep politcal opinion about Bush because they watched a Michael Moore film. Leave politics to people who know what they are talking about. I'm sure I could make a song of this calibur by just piecing together buzzwords relating to the Bush administration... but hey I don't have tits.

It's an interesting approach, but the content is alarmingly empty. Sure, it's a nice presentation, but at the end it's "bush sux dieeee" in a prettier form. There are no points made, no actual topics addressed, and is full of hyperbolic sensationalist rhetoric. Not even faintly impressed.

I agree with OneInchPunch, I really have gotten tired of hearing celebrities speak on any issues. The thing is that most celebs are high school drop-outs, so we should listen to them why? Because they are rich and live totally for themselves? Or is it because most of them don't even read the paper? It's just freaking ridiculous. Like Madonna a few years back giving like 10g to charity and telling Americans we need to give more to charity. Hello? You are worth 300 mil.

This is kind of old for me. On French radio (on WinAMP) they've been playing this nonstop. -_-
It's a okay song, it has it's strongpoints by not coming off angry and focusing on one point, but at the end she's addressing what we already known two years ago/and more.

I know Pink wasnt too found of her early efforts because the studio "made her do it", but her first and second album were the best. I dont know why she clings onto this "love me because I am different" image, Its old. We get it, youre angry and you dont want to be like the other singers. Why does it take a couple of albums and several singles for us to understand that? Its like the Eminem trick, every song thats released or critically acclaimed is about the same couple of things.
I am over her and over her agenda to sell records using this outrageous, "I care about something other than record sales" attitude. Its not true and she is totally hypocritical. When I get free vinyl from labels and promoters about her music, they never mention anything about her movement, only to push push push the new single. Even when you are trying to voice something when you HAVE to sell records to get your supposed WORD out, the number one goal is still record sales.
I just hate when entertainers act like activists. Most of the time its a publicist or someone telling them it would be in their best interest to do this or sing that.

And here I am, stupid me thinking that groups like Pink Floyd, SOAD and Rage Against the Machine knew how to write politically charged lyrics. Silly me...
I just love how she opens up by saying that he's better than her. Nothing like an attention whore openly admiting her low self-steem.

Was expecting some hardcore rock or her screaming instead of this soft stuff. It is really hard to be innovative on a subject that has been beat on for years. Moral of the story is: thanks for fucking our shit now please get the hell out and please tell your daughters to not pursue a political career.

The only song I've heard written about the Bush Administration that I actually liked was when DJ Shadow and Zach De La Rocha did a song called "March of Death". That shit was hot. But nobody in this country cares about shit like this cause they think it doesn't effect them.

I think the majority of this country's citizens (for some reason) are trying to keep their sence of 'normalcy' (god I hate using that word, it's not even a real one but a US president after WWI coined the phrase 'state of normalcy' and it stick to us eversince.)
A lot of people realise what this admin is doing but many dont want to speak up. "Middle" class idividuals and the working class want to obtain status and some families are still reeling in from the "tumulous" 80's/60's, most minorities are/were after the seventies ended so many want a piece of the normalcy pie.
The rest are the poor and other's who would probably be unnafected if there was an uproar or not. In a sence the working class fall upon this catagory too but they will have much to loose since they are teethering between middleclass wealth and being poor.
The protestors and activist we have now are not as "organized" from the sixties. It's just a shuffle of unorganized protestors without a main voice. Just think of it this way, if a guy comes out screaming a bunch of things people will think he's crazy, if he screams one thing then people will listen.
I dont hate or argue with every person who's not calling their congressman asking why the goverment is screwing up. In a sence that will be hypocritical of me as I try to live my life here the best as I can with my family. Some people voice their opions and protest in many diferent ways, some big, most small. But it's better than doing nothing at all.
I think what was the breaking point with me was with the president's policies and the Admin, espescialy when he started the Iraq 'War'. I didnt like it or him before or then since I belive that we sould be democratic with a country 200 percent before even thinking of deploying troops, but at the time he had a convicing argument. Until three months latter, or less. :bluu:

It was a tad too vague. She should've mentioned something on Katrina, starting a war without UN permission, bombing Iraq in the name of 9-11 and terrorism when 15 of the 19 hijackers came from Saudi Arabia (a place where his oil buddies live, so obviosly he can't bomb them right)., etc. etc.
And the gay daughter thing is actually Dick Cheney, the vice president.
That said and flaws aside, I say BRAVO! How can you diss Pink for risking alienating half her audience to say something she wants to say, something important. Important in comparison to 99 percent of popular music which is about JACK and SHIT.
So even though the execution could have been better, the move still gets props.

"You've come a long way from whiskey and cocaine"
LOL.
But yeah, interesting song. Pink seems to have a habit of going for the throat. I remember hearing how Prince William really wanted to have Pink sing at his birthday party and she wrote him a letter starting off with "Dear William, I hear you like to hunt....."
and well....I guess you can put two and two together. She ended up tearing him a new one because he participates in fox hunting I believe.

Well, i don't think pink is attractive and i don't listen to her music outside of watching some of her music videos in MTV, but i think she's a fabulous musician. She isn't like all the other pop mainstream bitches that sing about nothing and make music based on nonsense. Her messages actually have some value. Same can't be said with the other pop female artists.
