View Full Version : Oh shit...just when they got the TMNT cartoon mostly right...

Now they've apparently abandoned the "training with the ninja council to handle a threat to the world" storyline, and just gone to TMNT Fast Forward. The theme song sucks MAD ass. It makes Rock The Dragon sound like Dan Dan Kokoro Hikareteku. The american Sonic X theme is better. The art style is noticably less detailed, and I didn't need to see Splinter naked. This show is currently 7 minutes into the first ep, and already it fails. The turtles have been sent to the far-distant future via a malfuntioning tv remote. They came without their weapons or clothes (Dammit, give Splinter a bathrobe or something, he's parading all ov-...they gave him a lousy BELT.). The city has humans and various alien species living peacefully together. Some rich collector kid has them brought to his home, and he has ALL their gear, Shredder's suit, Casy Jones's stuff... he's Cody Jones, Great great grandson of Casey and April. wtf. Well, since this kid has all their stuff, maybe he can cover Splinter's shame. That rat lost all his cool points with his rampant streaking. According to Leonardo, the turtles have each had 15 years of ninja training. Mikey was separated from the others and pretty much anyone's bitch due to wierd gravity differentials to acomodate the alien species, and his lack of a gravity equalizer. His bros get new gear from Cody, who, like I said, must be rich or some shit, cuz he's got tons of shit and a HUGE pad. They and Splinter (who FINALLY covered his shame...guess he wanted to let it breathe for a while) beat the ass of slavers that wanted to use Mikey as slave labor. The fight scene shows that the animation also took a hit, but only moderately. Niw they're gonna live with Cody while they try to re-create the accident that caused them to be catapulted forward in time so they can get back home.

For those of you who wonder "Wait...what happened to the ninja council storyline they were going with in season 4?", here:

Recently, Dan Berger, TMNT writer, and correspondent to the fanbase, confirmed that Peter Laird and his staff had been working hard on an alternative fifth season for the show that would have resolved the "Ninja Tribunal" storyline introduced in the season four finale, producing thirteen episodes in total, but it was shelved in favor of the "Fast Forward" concept for the following season. The "Lost season" has been confirmed for a release on DVD in the near future.

Not quite: they did this shit with no regard whatsoever to continuity. Last ep of season 4 the turtles are being held by the ninja grand council, and have just ageed to undergo training THERE (on an island halfway around the world, with the only way back home being by the boat that brought them there) with 4 human ninja in preparation to save the world from a great menace (presumably something Karai is up to)...then they show the first ep of Fast forward, and the guys are back at home like all this never happened.

That was.....alright. Kind of tolerable. But they're in the future. And.....it really sucks. I'm mixed about it. The opening theme sucks major ass though.

Is there any possible way that Fox, or whoever distributes the DVDs, can make a boxset of the original series? Because I stopped watching after season 2. And I was really loving the first series.

Fast Forward needs some major work. The Bebop "cameo" was pretty cool though. Even though it lasted about 0.3 seconds.

i had to fast forward through the theme song...worst theme song ever.

So far I'm not liking it...the theme and intro sequence itself is already disgusting. It was funny though that the turtles and Splinter looked "naked".

There are dvds of the new/original TMNT series, as well as the "old old" show. I'm not sure how far they got with the new show's dvds though. I've seen at least 2 volumes. I'll get it eventually; the new tmnt is one of those cases where I like the show, but I've never gotten around to watching it that much. It doesn't help that abcFamily has dominated my attention on saturday mornings for quite awhile now with their Power Rangers marathons, old stuff like Spidey/Amazing Friends, etc.

I might care if the wirters do the story line where the turtles jump through the portal after the shark guy and they go into the future where only Don and Raph survive and the world is coverd in water...Best story ever

EDIT: Did anyone notice the Bebop look-a-like in pt 2 of ep 1?

Wow, that was... horrible. Wtf was the reason behind this? I mean, the show was OK to begin with, but now they just go and completely ruin it. I didn't watch the entire episode though. The theme song had me vomiting at hello. I'll give the rest of the episode a chance when I get home. Doesn't look good though.

Although I do like how Leo's swords look.

I'm with you guys, Fast Forward is a disappointment. Bad enough that they ignored the running plots and subplots of the previous seasons, but how many damn times have we seen the "evil uncle" (or variation thereof) in a Saturday morning cartoon? Someone resurrect Fraggle Rock.

I actually forgot to mention that. But then again, it was so bad that it had me cringing as I typed my post out. They had better explain that anomoly. I don't care how stupid the explanation, just tell us why it happened.

They tried to get home today...but nothing. They only used the time viewer. I think all they need to do is stand in the time viewer's focal point, and use a remote that operated on the same frequency as the time viewer the same time the viewer is switched on, and viola, instant warp back home. Naturally, it'll take some 26 eps for Donatello to get out of retard mode and realize this.

And you know they were pirating like a sonavabitch with Don hooking them up with a hacked all-channel access card. During the day Splinter watched soaps, and at night: Women's Prison Wrestling Championship.

Is there any possiblity that you can send in that explanation to the writers with a timebomb attached to it? Or a shitty-writer detector bomb that will hint as to their shitty explanation and kill said writers?

I give Donatello two seasons to get this right. They have to count the merchandise money first during the first season. So no real end in sight.

LOL. Word. They pirated that shit. I'm sure Donatello made a satellite that runs off of somebody else's frequency.

They stated out kicking ass in 2003...I predict that they'll keep this up for a couple seasons, not give it an ending episode, and just stop cold. No more turtles...instead, they'll show some kid-friendly dubbed anime. Nothing good will come of this. The thing about "Fast Forward"...much like on a dvd, cassette or cd: it gets you to the end a whole helluvalot faster.

Of course. That's why people who like the 2k3 turtles are saying that it's closer to the way Eastman and Laird wanted than that kiddie crap from the 80's. On the other hand, you have people who's only exposure to the turtles WAS that lame-ass kid fodder, and they have the balls and temerity to insist that the 2k3 turtles suck because it's not goofy and dumb like the old show, not knowing that the creators NEVER wanted their show to be such crap, but didn't have a choice.
