I just finished updating the Alpha Electronics site with a configurator for the Mas Systems Mini and regular sized joysticks. I wanted to get some feedback from the community to see if it makes ordering these easier. You can view the configurator here:

http://www.alphaelectronics.us/system_dept.asp?dept_id=SD-005

For those that may be interested in purchasing one, I've added a special coupon code that will give you $10 off your order of any of these 2 controllers. Just enter "srkmember" at checkout. Along with the joysticks you'll find all sorts of stuff on the site, including usb tv adapters (for recording your match vids), camcorders, hdtv's, and about 100,000 other products. :wgrin:

Good Stuff!! For the past week I've wanted to order a MAS but was to lazy. The Mass order process isn't to user friendly. I'm gonna order my stick tommorow, hopefully everything works out. If it does then, alpaelectronics FTW!

What converters are you speaking of? The stick is available with compatability out of the box for pretty much every system out there (except the 360).

Would you be willing to sell an unwired version with an extra button on the side of the case? Something that we can use to install an Xbox 360 PCB. The side button would be used as the guide button...

When you say "unwired", are you saying you want a joystick without a PCB in it at all? Let me know and I'll see what I can work out.

Yes. Without a PCB. The 360 controller PCB installation (http://www.gamersreports.com/article/24/4/) is easy enough for me to do myself but I am sure that there are others who would pay you to do the mod for them for a nominal fee. Remember to ask about the extra button on the side.

Thanks

Sounds like a nice deal.
About compatibility: if I choose more than one system, does it mean the stick has PCBs for the systems I want or is it a PSX PCB + adaptors? Right now my main interest is a DC stick since I already have sticks for PS2 & Xbox but a multi-system stick would be nice too.
Also, what payment methods do you accept?

ThanksJust be aware that the tutorial does not cover soldering the trigger buttons, which is a little more involved than the typical ground/signal attachments.

The only system that requires an adapter is the Xbox version. It uses a PS2 to Xbox adapter. The rest of them have the actual cables coming out of the box for the dreamcast, neogeo, ps2, or PC. As for payment methods, there are many. Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, postal money order, and Paypal.

As for everyone else who has checked it out, send me some feedback on how you like the configurator. If it's missing something I definitely want to go in and fix it. Thanks guys.

Ok will do, but when I do it though I'm going to request that the sticks have quick disconnects on them not the buttons being soldered, I want to be able to swap out the buttons easily, oh by the way I heard that there are new problems that had arisen with the new Perfect 360s that were manufactured by Happ, if you hadn't checked on Tech Talk already.

I used it back in the day with no problems really. There was a slight bit of delay but nothing that you couldn't adjust to within a few games.

We ship worldwide. PR won't be a problem at all. The deal lasts til the end of the month.

As for the other question about the DC stick. to my knowledge it doesn't have a slot for the VMU card.

Yeah, what's good with the 360's? I heard they have problems as well? Is there a way that can be taken care of prior to recieving the ordered stick because I'm about to order 2 P360's so I would just like to save myself any future "non registering corners"

Thank you,
Amir.

Thank you,

Every now and again HAPP has issues with a small batch of their P360 joysticks. I just had a customer order one from me about 3 weeks ago and he reported his working just fine. He was also a previous P360 owner on his older MAS stick and he said they both hit corners the same. The controller does have a warranty as well so if you do experience any problems there's nothing to worry about. Let me know when you're ready to place an order.

FYI: For anyone with any questions they would like to ask in private please contact me via the website. I don't always get around to visiting the forum and my PM box can go unanswered for awhile if thing's get super busy.

The more I think about it, the more I think I'm going to get a MAS stick. I have a couple questions though. What would be the best way to overlay graphics on the stick? The normal top of the stick is rather ugly and that's basically the main thing keeping me from buying one since I'm a fan of US parts (I've played on Sanwas on T5 machines and don't think I could deal with a square restrictor on 2d fighters). Also, roughly how long will it take from ordering the stick to recieving it? And finally, I don't yet have a credit card, so would I be able to use a debit card/ send in a personal check? If not then I'll borrow one off a friend.

What was the problem with your stick? I've heard of problems with the perfect 360's, did you have one? I was thinking about getting one with a competition stick.

I'd also like to know how big the mini super pro stick is that's on the site. I can't really tell from the picture and I haven't been able to find dimensions and weights for it.

converters like the innovation and magicbox. i know i can add compatibility of the mas stick for the DC and xbox but that's like $50 more. I'm thinking i can get one that's only ps2 compatible and use the converters i already have to save some money.

The stick is a competition.
It went from "controller not inserted" to completely rejecting the stick on my consoles. Tried getting hold of Mas Systems and it's been months since I got any information about my stick. :looney:

Shipping sometimes could be a few days, up to a few weeks depending on what you order. If they have everything in stock they usually crank these things out in a week, and then about a week or so for delivery time depending on where in the US you are.

When I placed my mas order over the phone, they told me it would take a while to come because of how many orders they had for custom black 12 button sticks. I had the order placed for 3 day select shipping but It took about 2 weeks to come.

2 weeks is actually a pretty fast turnaround time for a custom joystick. Even though you may pay for 3 day shipping, that doesn't mean that you will receive the joystick 3 days from when you pay. Just letting everyone know who may be confused about that.

So far the response regarding the configurator has been pretty good. If anyone else has any suggestions about what could make it better/easier to order, let me know and I'll see what can be done! :wgrin:

I ordered a stick last week. The configurator is pretty good overall. Some suggestions:

-maybe you could put an option to choose between a 8-button or a 10-button stick (which really matters only if you're buying a PS2 or Xbox stick). For instance, even though I ordered a DC stick, there were still color options for 8 buttons. This is not a problem for me or any other person who has some knowledge of arcade sticks but that might confuse someone who doesn't.
-on the button color selection, I think the explanation of which button is which is good but it would be even better and easier if there was some sort of diagram, a little pic showing where which button goes, you get the idea.
-also, I think it would be a nice idea if you included a pic of a black stick in addition to the pic that's in there already so people could see what both the white stick and the black stick look like, which might help them making a decision on which one they like best.

The configurator is good overall. I just those little things might help make it better.

Anyway I'm interested in ordered 2 joysticks from your website and was wondering if you could mark the value of them as 20$ or less when you mail them out so they don't get taxed at the border and how we could go about doing this during check out

Thanks

It ended last month, but since it did so well I may bring it back if enough people are interested. As for shipping, MAS Systems is experiencing some delays as they are moving. I would say it would take about 2 weeks for them to make the stick, and then about a week for shipping (unless you choose expedited shipping).

Good question. I talked to my techs this week and for some reason the shipping calculator on the website doesn't work for international customers. I'm trying to come up with an easy solution to take care of the problem. Here's what to do in the meantime.

1. Go to the configurator and set the joystick up the way you want it.

2. Add it to the shopping cart

3. When you are checking out, just put "Orlando, FL 32819" as your city/state/zip. You can enter your real name and street address like normal.

4. Once you've completed the order, just send me an email via the "contact us" page on the website with your full name and address. From there I can finish off the order.

I will be working on this international ordering issue this coming week and should have it finalized to reduce confusion. In the meantime, anyone from outside of the US please use this method and make sure you email me letting me know of the address changes.

Using the 360's trigger buttons is not hard at all. You can solder directly to them if you don't pull off the actual triggers. Otherwise, you have to add 2 resistors, but it's no big deal.
