Peeps from Texas and Colorado should be making an appearance.

I may have made an assumption based on the server he gave me. I assumed TX, but could be wrong... anywho~ It's Giby and his crew (at least one i believe)
and from CO...
KLT and possibly Varao, Sonny, and Truetech. They've just gotten wind of it, so hopefully more in the CO forum will take notice.

I would like to join but, I think it should be on excellent setting and p0wn should be the official server for matches between EC and WC atleast. My ping at GW is way too high (around 80-90)
Master Giby
09-14-2006, 11:54 AM
If you're in San Diego you can use one of the WC servers for casual play. I go to Fragbox every so often, people play Garou there. The server's somewhere in SanFran.
K... new possible rule. Finding the best server between two players? Unless you have a giant problem with that. I play good from 45-90, but of course that's pretty bad on the upper level.
Let's say I'm ~50 in GW, but someone is 90. We go somewhere else where we both have 60 I think they can opt to play there instead.
Any thoughts?

Any limitations on T.O.P. adjustments? what's the time scale (or to the death)? and can someone please tell me what the heck Flash ON/OFF does. Oh yeah, and are bosses available?

Grant and Kain will be playable. It usually is best 2/3 fights, 3 rounds per fight with the final being 5 rounds in a best of 7.
Flash causes a bright flash everytime a character lands a big move, and its REALLY fuckin annoying, which is why everyone turns it off.

I'm not sure what the T.O.P rules are, but there shouldn't be any T.O.P size adjustment allowed. Gotta wait for Tea to reply to find out if you can change the size or not.

One question: what exactly the TOP does other than it gives u a new move.
I see a lot of people editing their TOP meter smaller but i don't reallty know why
Serpent
09-19-2006, 02:41 PM
I think smaller TOP allows more damage. I've been using it, I don't know why it would be banned. It's in the game, and when you make it really small one hit takes you out of it anyway.

That's a toughy...
Generally I leave it on arcade mode in tournies, but then you have to know how to select the boss characters. But when it IS in arcade mode, there's no top size adjustment.
To be honest, my vote is to not allow it, but still keep it on console so boss characters are easier to select.

I'd definitely go along with that. I played a Tizoc a couple days ago that did a level 3 T.O.P. at the start, and within two hits floored me. Doesn't help when it's round 2 or 3 and they've got enough for a potential to start too.
P.S. Braver, here's some T.O.P. info for you:
Level 1 = 1/3 of bar, damage x 1.25
Level 2 = 1/5 of bar, damage x 1.50
Level 3 = 1/15 of bar, damage x1.75
While in T.O.P. you obviously gain you're T.O.P. attack, which can be immediately guard canceled into on a just defend. You also slowly regain health, but I'm unsure of the rate (or if it changes with level), looks like 1% every 2 or three seconds (but I could be wrong). And correct me if I'm wrong, but don't those T.O.P. attacks do extra guard crush damage? They sure seem to. But the best thing about T.O.P. is.... you glow! :wgrin:

When you say 2/3 falls double elimination, I'm assuming that means two standard matches. Which leads me to ask, between matches within the elimination, how does character selection work? Does winner stay with his selected character and loser has the option of changing? Or does the double elimination take place against different players entirely?

When you win, you must keep the same character. I think youre allowed to change if you lose though.

Let's say P1 and P2 are set to go against each other first round.
They play with options set to 2/3 rounds per FIGHT. Whoever wins best 2/3 FIGHTS wins the match. Let's say P2 beat P1. P2 stays in the winners bracket and can still lose a match and stay in the tourney. The next time P1 loses a match (his second), he's out of the tourney. That's what double elimination means.

Too bad that server crashed, that was ultra lame.
Shik, i've even defended you in the past, but you need to be a LOT less flakey during these things. I didn't want to DQ you for taking so long, but you really pushed it. Also, don't try and force people to play in servers where your ping is 0 and theirs is 60 or more. It's lame~ and the rules were to try and find a server where the two players are close or where they're both low.

Grah...another tourney without a win X.X... That makes all of them ;/
BAH! I'm still up for this. Good games to everyone. And I suggest you do the tournament later rather than sooner, 'cause if you do these tournies too quickly, they just aren't tournies anymore, they're more like random match squeduals. The excitement of a tournament and proving yourself worthy is just plain gone, since you can lose in a tourney, just go "Oh well", instead of how you SHOULD be reacting; losing and going "CENSORED!! I ALMOST HAD HIM!! GRAH!!1".
Seriously, doing tourneys every week/month just makes it that less important. Isn't that what tournies are about? Being and important schedual of matches with heated battles with prizes and bragging rights on the line?
And then there's the fact that if you do tournies too often, it takes out another important aspect of it; seeing serious improvement between players. With weekly tournies it's barely noticeable. Let the players train and get better!
Then again, I should've posted this in one of the tourney threads that are actually, you know, frequent.

I'd say November is better than October for me too. I got a lot going on in October. One word of advice though, it might be nice to have a standard rule set available for the next tourney. I noticed we had a handfull of people that got pulled in the day of, and it would have been nice to say, hey look here before we start. I'm assuming J_Will was one of those people pulled in, as our match was a complete nightmare to setup (upped T.O.P. levels, friends specing, switching chars after a win). And I even got really pissed at one point when his buddy who was watching started to give him tips... so my own rule for the future is NO SPECS in my matches period. If people want to see what happened, they can watch the input recordings.
On another topic... whining really doesn't help. Unless it's about a glitch or some extranious factor that truely effected the out-come of the match. Hell I had to play Garcia in my 2nd round, the dude is a freakin' monster with Terry. I was lucky enough to win a single round. Perhaps next tourney I can make it out of the first bracket. :)
P.S. I still want to know what the procedure is for when a player lags out. I mean let's say it's the final match, round three, and it's all tied up (obviously). Player 1 has 85% health, and Player 2 has 5% health, and someone desyncs? Is that round played again? Is that entire matchup played again? Does the win just go to Player 1?
P.P.S. Can anyone give me some insight on corner traps? Seriously, Garcia and this other guy I met online Benihime (or something) were able to put some serious hurt on me by repeating various attacks, in quick succession, in the corner which forced me into a constant block state. I just couldn't retaliate or escape.

(despues que pasaste por mi escuela ahora te crees gente probre niņo te falta mucho todavia):smokin: :smokin: :smokin: That i still got to learn a lot LOL! Bro wake the fuck up im way more better than you. You are the one who got to learn a LOT ask for advice how to use kevin or even grant cause you still believe you can beat everybody with the same shit over and over (remember people learn patterns) especially yours cause you do the same strategy and the same shit.
Storm aka gato 23 hes better than you at least he does something different but you heh i dont think so!
Wait for my comeback cause right now i got problems to solve.
Ill leave the next tournament to whoever wins it. I hope you win and post your (inp)matches about it cause you only upload them when you win fucking loser!

Indeed!
d+ab when youre getting cornered with Terry's guardstring.
You aren't being specific when to do it. It would only work well if you do it while Terry is doing his f f+C. Terry can decide to cancel into a fireball instead of that other move, so if you just mash crouch AB, you're going to get hit by the fireball. Or, he can decide to cancel it into a jump, in which case mashing crouch AB will whiff and get you comboed there.

Well I've been searching for Garou + Guard Crush + String / Combo / Moves etc. and I've found little to nothing. Can someone post me a link, or some vids, I really want to know what characters have this option open to them, and how to preform their guard crush combos. Any help would be appreciated.
close C, f+A+C, close C, f+A+C, close C, f+A+C, crouch C...
then qcf+P
or ff+C return to start (here's where crouchA+B works)
or f+A+C run up
or f+A+C HK qcf+P or ff+P
n00b version... (lame only use it as practice to build up to the better version and to time close C after ff+C)
close C, ff+C, close C, ff+C... repeat
If you're getting hit by it (or blocking it) there's not much you can do until it's at the crouch C part because you can't not block it once you've started. (unless they insert some delays, but that's a whole other story)
Most characters can just use close D or C, then feint with f+A+C or d+A+C, then repeat, but they don't have much use except pressure to keep them from mashing a throw or c.A+B attempt.
Terry and Kain really only have good GC strings. Further, you can add in a blocked TOP attack with most characters to get some big Guard Damage before you start.
