I'm playing some people in this tomorrow. They are overly confident and it annoys me. I've played this once before for about 10 minutes. Someone teach me the most broken stuff so that I will own everyone. This is for the N64 version.

Thanks SRK

uh just know that link has reach but is slow, samus has weapons but has poor hand to hand combat, Or just use fox and attack straight up but dont dash off the stage.

peace + down smash and projectile hassling?

Good, I wanted to use him anyway. What do I do with him exactly?

the easiest way to go is pikachu with excessive grabs-- backwards throw specifically. i don't recommend kirby, as though he's as broken as pikachu, his throws are weak, and his tactics don't flow very well. try to gaurd the edge (effective, not fancy). that's pretty much it.

Look at Falco and his throw combos. And if you can practice, just become a Sheik who can do some snazzy combos.

Capps Indigo

he asked for help for the original smash bros... not melee.

i agree w/ nico.. pika and grab a ton (r button).

if you want to use kirby hit them off the screen then spike them. hit them off with a forward smash or dash attack or down smash, thatll prolly work best. then float out over the edge (with your many jumps) and use your down air attack (down drill insta-spike).

Oh yeah...if you're doing the N64 version, then pick up either Yoshi (throw them in the air and line up his down+A), Fox (turtle like a bitch using his laser, or Samus (use their smash attack and then use their down+A to spike them).

Ness is also a great character, his spike is just retarded in the N64 version, and plus unlike everyone else, Ness has a powerful forward and backward throw. His yoyo smashes are powerful, and his Up tilt attack can juggle quite nicely. I love Ness in the N64.

^ Ness has a hard learning curve.

Use Kirby, use his excellent roll and forward smash. And ABUSE HIS UP TILT!!!

Also try Z-Cancelling, everytime you do an Aerial normal and you're about to land press Z to nullify the recovery.

This is a basic win.

why the hell you wanna play this game  flying pokemons and kirbys.lol i cant believe people take this game seriously. pacman or galaga anyone?

Jushiness

use Captain Falcon and abuse short jump Knee [his airial forward A]

use fox and short jump, down A, shine [down B] repeat across screen and spike em and also spam lasers. jump lasers and short jump double lasers

use martha and abuse his sword. try to hit with the tip for maximum damage. poke to keem em away..

or play like me and use pikachu and abuse open stages and noobishly spam thunderbolt

overall dont use many B moves. stick to A moves. when they are in the air and you are under jump up and juggle them with UP A. abuse the top tiers and be jolly.

P.S. i only know this stuff cause my friend plays smash competitively and taught me some tricks to beat my brother XD

If this is SSB N64 version then use Donkey Kong.

Donkey Kong's got huge throw range... the best stamina and excellent recovery abilities.

Also his super-charge up punch is great.

Everytime I go to a tourney the smash crowd is always a bunch of ugly, zitty, smelly, morbidly skinny or morbidly fat hippy-nerds that desperately need to take showers.

For that reason alone is enough to hate Smash.

If you really want to exploit brokenness, go to youtube, search for Isai and any of his SSB64 matches. You will witness some of the most broken things you never thought were possible.

parryall: thats a very bad generalization. the whole fighting game community has people like that too. so i fail to understand the point of that post.

to be honest, whats really wrong with smash? its another fighter, it proved to have some depth, and its fun, i dont see why people dont find it fun. must be cuz its not a traditional fighter . no qcf moves or dp motions i guess. i guess if mario is in the game and not ryu, it must be a shallow game.

bleh either way, lets keep the trolling flame posts to a minimum. this isnt a thread about how smash sucks. fools need to start growing up and teach new players and make the scene grow, not shit on it, cuz its not your type of game. (of course there are a couple exceptions =) )

They think they just are the shit and know everything.

Tactic 1: Call them all furries.

Tactic 2: Turtle and build meter, then c.mk into Shippu Jinrai Kyaku.

Tactic 3: Scope some vids on Youtube, then copy + paste.

Plus, SRK just tends to hate on any popular fighting game.

But yeah, it's not like the SF community here is the most intelligent, hospitable, logical community in the world. The Smashers are just MORE stupid.

And yes. SSBM>>>>>SSB. There are idiots that beg to differ.

"And yes. SSBM>>>>>SSB. There are idiots that beg to differ."

Really? I can't think of ANYONE who thinks the original is better. I mean, I played the original religiously with a few friends back in hi-school (something to do between Goldeneye matches, y'know), but only recently playing the SSBM twice I can't even play the original anymore! Its such a huge improvement.

Serpent, I think you should do alright. SSB is fairly intuitive.

One of the guys in my dorm said that SSB is on par, or even greater than, Melee because it's just as fast. I nearly fell out of my chair laughing. SSB didn't have wave dashes, air/ground dodges, or shffling. He liked it better simply because he was a scrub anyway and he just refused to admit it.

XAQshinor
08-31-2006, 08:08 PM
lol scrubs always take the easy game over the more complex, better game. *cough* guilty gear owns sf *cough*. wow. i need some theraflu or robutussin or something.

dont take that personally though sf is still fun

nico

i'm not saying whether ssb is better than or worse than ssbm, but that's not to say ssb didn't have advantages. the gameplay is faster in that there's less frame delays (0) in z cancels, and it's far easier to put together combos in the first one. ssbm did add a lot of dynamics, but that's not to say both aren't deep at the highest level of play.

H-F Blade
08-31-2006, 08:44 PM
Some of the moves in SSB were faster than those in Melee (Z cancels, instant spikes), but in terms of the overall pace of the game, Melee is easily the faster of the two.

throw 99% of the time
Why are people still giving suggestions after this post?

Seriously, all you do is pick Marth and then grab.
Hold block, wait for them to hit you, then grab. If these bitches don't know how to L-Cancel, you will win by doing this!

Smash scrubs have a habit of ALWAYS coming down with a very unsafe (yet strong) move. Block, grab, beat them up a bit, repeat. Attack every now and then, but grabbing is the key.

Shit, I remember going to my first smash tourny.
Hitting 2nd place on a game you never played against people who are "supposly" good is just too funny... but a strange way to make enemies >_>

BTW: If you don't know what L-Cancel.
Its a technique that removes all recover from any Air A attacks. To do this, do any A attack in the air. Right before you land, tap R or L (one of the any of the block buttons), you will then quickly recover from your air attack.

Hahaha, Z-Cancelling, that shit owned, that made me love this version of Link, unlike in SSBM where even if you L-Canceled on a swordplant your still vulnerable, yet in SSB a Z-Cancel from swordplant you could recovery instantly...good stuff. Although the best characters in this game where freakishly overpowered.

Btw, imo, I've always felt that Donkey Kong was looked down upon in SSB, when I feel he was one of the best, excellent throw range for speed, and backthrow was ridiculously powerful, great spike, down smash was good, charge punch imo was better in this version as well, ground smash had good range, powerful f.smash..maybe it's just me, but he was pretty darn good.

Really? I can't think of ANYONE who thinks the original is better.

Some of the best Melee players in the world actually prefers SSB to Melee. To some people, SSB is like the XvSF of Smash games to them. They just like the combo ability/(almost) every character having some broken shit about them compared to their Melee version.

H-F Blade

When the fuck did he say that? No one can beat anyone at any of the games mentioned without practice and experience. And most smashers I met are friendly and far from the elitist "know it all" mindset that perpetuates many competition fighters (or games in general).
