No matter how many retarded topics we get on here, at least a lot of the people on this site understand how these games work.

A popular argument I've seen being built on a lot of forums these days is that fighters are all just memorization and patterns which is retarded and overly simplistic.
High level play for fighters in general seem to be rather maligned these days with phrases like "Go back to SRK" and "tourneytards" being floated more and more often.

At the very least, this place is a safe haven from the kind of ignorance that surrounds the genre as a whole.

That being said, I think we've had enough of these topics.
We're all well aware of the fact that fighting game discussion is essentially a steaming shit pile outside of SRK.

Tekken: Available with a joystick at gamestop, has a national tournament scene
VF: Go to japan

Maybe to us nerds VF is better, but i mean, I don't know anyone travelling to play it. In internet world VF is the best thing since sliced bread, but when it comes to backing it up, only tekken is in the scene.

Virtua Fighter 5 will have around 17 characters, which is a good-sized roster. The roster may be smaller than Tekken's, but all of the characters are unique. A good deal of Tekken's roster are variations of the same character. For example, players who are familiar with Kazuya will have an easy time learning to play as Heihachi because they share a lot of moves.

wrong. kaz's inputs for hs, ewgf, cd, are different than the other mishimas(easier). stick technique changes,which makes a difference if your not a master of directional input in tekken. directional input for hs, ewgf, cd, ld, and wd, are different and a little more difficult for hei, dj, and jin. the play styles are different. no need for detail.
variations of the same character? only i can think of eddy and christie for that situation. who else? hmmmmmmm no one i can think of

Fact is, I can make a thread like this, come back the next day, read the responses, and compare it to the gamefaqs thread. Why, when I say in the first sentence that this thread is a rant, would you bother to read further? You read further. And By you, I mean every retard who took the bait and responded to my (clearly sarcastic and satirical) thread with negativity towards me. And by reading AS WELL as responding, you turned a thread that sucked, into a thread that sucks AND has a page full of responses. The thread started on gamefaqs was not a bad thread when it was made.
