Inspired after watching Mortal Kombat Mythologies for the first time since I played it 8 years ago. First time I played it I found it entertaining, nothing spectacular but still fun. On second run through I notice: the AI does nothing, puzzles (if you want to call them that) are easy for the most part, pasted sprites and a poor attempt at a 3D background, and some of the worst acting you'll see in a game. I will maintin there is "some" fun platfoorming.

This got me to thinking of some of the other horrible games I've had the misfortune of playing.

ODT (Or Die Trying) PS1- Drab 3rd person shooter with a weak storyline. You just run around shooting enemies with poorly thought up weapons. Basically your supposed to find gas cans so you can fly off in your deflated air ballon while shooting enemies with mediocre weapons.

Blasto - PS1: Anothe 3rd person shooter. Levels are long and monotonous. Only redeeming quality, Phil Hartman voices the main character. Went on wikipedia to see what they had to say about it and its gameplay

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blasto_%28video_game%29

The Tick - SNES: Loved the cartoon so by comparison I thought I would love the game (I was 9). Basic beat 'em up where all you do is walk forward and mash the punch button. Levels were really long for no reason. Much like Final Fight yet I still can't explain why I find FF so much more entertaining.

Some of the horrible games I've played, anybody else got stories of really awful games.

Oh man, I picked up ODT, played it once and almost died from a stroke. So being the hero that I am I traded it in to EB for like 2 bucks, though truthfully I may have paid them to take it back. It sat on their used section at the all too expensive price of 4 dollars for about a year. Then near Christmas my asshole friends, knowing how bad the game was but also liking the fact that a character was named MAXX HAVOC, decided I had been without ODT for too long. They went and knowingly bought the same exact copy I had tried to rid myself of and gave it back to me. Upon receiving this present I immediately of course tried to murder them but alas, they were too quick for me.

So I have begrudgingly accepted the fact that ODT's fate is forever entwinded with my own. I imagine as I die this game will crumble to dust, its mission finally having been acheived.

In other news, has anyone ever played that shitty game for the ps2 Run Like Hell? Since it says RLH on the side of it we have often dubbed it "ODT 2"

It would be great if we could get a Mystery Science Theatre 3000 type of show or whatever for games that are so bad they become funny and entertaining. First thing that comes to mind is Grabbed by the Ghoulies. I cracked up just looking at footage of the game a few months ago. One that is totally wide open for jokes though--The Crow for psx. I had this game....it was so wonderfully terrible, I couldn't trade it in. I enjoyed playing at it because it was bad to the point of being hilarious. The camera angles are ridiculous, all the bad guy characters looked silly, and they had classic lines like: "REPRESENT, FOOL!"(in a gangsta wannabe hard tone) while shooting at you.

and oh yes...I dare to bring some more rpg hate to a beloved series: Dragon Warrior. Oh, what a rude awakening that was....so I'm walking through the grasslands/forest area outside of town, and I encounter an enemy...a slime. Do I see him next to my character? Oh noooo...that would make sense. A large picture of the slime pops up. I think there was what, 2 frames of animation if any at all? "Fighting" takes place, but eh, I had to take the game's word for it, as all that's really happening is that the picture of the slime is vibrating anytime he or I get "hit". Then there's the issue of turn-based "action" going on. The battle isn't real time oh no...because that would make sense. Instantly I thought you've got to be kidding me with this. I was amused yet angry at the same time with how much this sucked.

There's also Braindead 13, which really only succeeds in being something to laugh at, imo. It's a mildly interactive cartoon, rather than a true "game". The concept of those dumb FMV games back then was that they were just "mildly interactive movies" with a handful of possible outcomes. Anyway, it was great fun though to see the various ways your character got killed.

On the Blasto thing, I thought Phil Hartman died before the game was complete and they replaced him with a sound a-like. I never played the game but I think I remember reading about that when the game came out.

I'd like to call your attention to Overblood. A Resident Evil clone with bad graphics, decent story, and horrible voice acting. It's about a guy who wakes up in an abandoned laboratory with no recollection of who is or why he is there. He meets a little robot buddy the the main character named Peepo, and together they set off to make their escape. The game was horrible but there is one moment I will remember forever. Your little robot buddy gets injured and the main character yells, "Peepoooooo!". That cracked my brother, a friend, and myself up so hard, lol. Overblood got a sequal but it never came to the states. Suprise!

I love Sonic, but there was some game that was on the first "Megacollection" on Gamecube...it was from the Saturn era...possibly "Sonic R"? Anyway, I was cracking up just seeing it for the first time. The game was so butt-ugly you couldn't help but laugh...it was just the Sonic characters racing...they weren't in vehicles either. Just a pure, running-race...with some of the worst 3d graphics since the first Tekken.

ah, and what about the classic Bad Dudes? I played the hell out of that game, loving every minute of it...for some reason I took it seriously back then...despite poor controls,"bleh" graphics, and hilarious/unforgettable lines like : "The President has been kidnapped by ninjas. Are you a bad enough dude..?"--says some dude that looks like a cross between Brock Samson and Brian Bozworth...with shades on.

..and didn't you get a CHEESEBURGER for winning?! What the hell?!

Even better, Ronald Reagan himself treats you to said burger!

Captain America and the Avengers (SNES version) - This game is, hands-down, one of the absolute worst arcade-to-console ports ever created! Let's start with the visuals. The graphics were toned down severely, including several missing colors and animations! Hardware limitations, my foot! The SNES should've been able to handle a HALF-ASSED-LOOKING version of the game, at least!

Then there's the worst problem of them all... the horrible programming! First of all, we're talking about enemies that have no hit-stun, bosses that have THREE WHOLE SECONDS of invulnerability time between hits, and to make matters worse, YOU fall on your ass EVERYTIME you take the slightest punch! To quote The Boondocks... "That's some ol' BULLSHIT!"

Oh, and don't jump on my case about how arcade ports shouldn't count, because there's NO excuse for why that game turned out the way it did!

I actually find myself playing the Avengers ROM once every few months, because I keep having to remind myself that it was really that bad.

The costumes looked liked they were picked up in a secondhand halloween shop. And I'm not sure but I think Wesker is wearing a wig. Barry looks decent

Anyone ever play Thrill Kill. Never actually released due to its "over the line!" content although beta versions leaked. Looks like they tried to transpose Twisted Metal into a 3D fighter. The only A rated game ever though it doesnt hold a candle to any of todays gory games.

N64 had some classic shitass games.

Buck Bumble, Iggys Wrecking Balls, and...

Shadowman. I remember literally laughing for a good 10 minutes straight when my friends and I rented Shadowman back in the day at how fucking BAD that game was.

Sonic 3D was just plain awful. You couldn't run very fast and the controls were just clunky.

Evolution for the Dreamcast. The dungeon design was the shitties that I've seen. Each dungeon was the same as the last except longer and with fewer save points. Imagine going through 20+ floors without finding a save point. Terrible, right? That was the first RPG I actually gave up on and I'm glad that I did. I'd probably be on floor 142 of dungeon 5 by now if I stuck with it.

Sewer Shark, Night Trap, and Sherlock Holmes

I think since I kinda grew up playing these to death on the Sega CD the dialogue is just ingrained into my memory. So when I play them to this day I just drift away listening to it or I'm too busy laughing at how bad it is.

Rise of the Dragon also has some funny shit like "I'm Willy Jakester...people call me, THE JAKE!"

To make it even worse, it wasn't truly 3D. It used isometric projection so that it looked like it was 3D:bluu:

I can't believe I forgot War Gods.

I remember playing it at a Babbages on the N64 thinking "Yeah! this is the new wave of fighting games!" Of course I was about 10 and I was creaming over the N64 at the time.

Don't know the name of the game but from what I picked up after watching a friend play, your a samurai with sword hands and laser cannon in your knee. Basic hack 'n' slash with no real strategy at all, just mash the hit button. Anyone know the game.

Eternal Champions CD was another great one...you could fight as a chicken, or a snake....I think there was a monkey as well. I remember the snake was "cheap". It was hard for the other person to hit the snake...their offensive options were reduced to trying to get you with low kicks, basically. There were things I genuinely enjoyed about Eternal Champions though...I wish Sega would revive that for the new generation of systems...come on, Sega...give it another shot. That game had strong potential for greatness.

Got that one also, I didn't add it to the list cause I don't consider it a bad game. ^_^ Yeah the snake was Slither, the chicken was Crispy (complete with a special where a farmer runs out, cuts your head off, and you go flapping around beserk), the owl was Hooter, and there's a dog named Yappy whos style is listed as "shitzu-fu"
