Hi guys,

recently Singapore held its own Arcade tournament and CVS2 is in it. We also have T5DR, SC3 and KOFXI :)

Just check out under the Downloads section for the respective game vids.

For CVS2 its:

Welcome any feedback about the CVS2 vids...for eg. level of play etc.

Is the damage setting on your machine right? Things seemed to be doing alot more damage then they should......

why do you guys make it a point to rush down nonstop no matter what's going on?
those were like the fastest agroove matches i've ever seen that would go down to the last chars.

tell one of the top guys over there to be a little more patient and he'll be unstoppable.

The vids are under the download section under KOFXI. Right click the link and save. I tested the links they are ok.

KabukiMono: I think the damage settings should be correct...or at most 1 star above the norm. Some players start with R2 characters so they will do more damage (chipped to death by cheap electricity).

iKlEiTlH: Ya i guess mind games are still pretty much missing here...people are just spamming random RCs (electricity etc) here and there like blanka's since its so good against everyone there. In terms of gameplay wise we dun really have a CVS2 legend like Daigo there...but duplicates of A-Are we do have quite a few :(

I wonder when can we have a really good other-groove (besides A) player there to make a revolution.

I think the damage setting is at default+1, so it does shitload of damage and the time setting is prolly the fastest also.

Besides that, the gameplay seemed pretty casual. You guys know basically what to do, but I think the a groove dudes were random activating a little too much, and they don't seem to have a distinct style of play or objective in each round. I think Sagat should've jumped in with j.hk instead of j.short and work the guard bar against Sak, and when that iori had blanka down in the corner with 1-2 pixels left in the finals, he should've tried to land the guardbreak CC.

Do you guys know that low short is guaranteed if the other guy was standing up when you activate?

So far I haven't really seen anyone who is capable of doing the DPxn CC of Iori consistently yet (is thats what u r talking about)...

"Do you guys know that low short is guaranteed if the other guy was standing up when you activate?"

Eh nope. Didn't know about it. Thats one more thing to fear against A groove :(

iori needs to punish all those blocked blanka balls. cr.rh everytime.

The damage too high... may be due to the time districtions.

Is it in Speed 4??

You gotta run up first to do it. You can't run in A. The only way A Iori can punish midscreen is his super.

block high, walk a few pixels, c.HK.. from gunter's a-groove vid.. i think RC fierce rekka will hit once as well.. level one is the easiest and most damage but in A it's sketchy.. you wanna be able to guardcrush blanka

To confirm, the damage is set at 3 here in SG. (which factored into the crazy C-Sagat full team comeback) To be honest, I only really noticed it after looking through the videos. Will be asking the management to reduce it to 2. Speed is set at 4.

I'm the guy who got #2, and i gotta say the quality of play in the videos wasn't really good. After all it was our first CvS2 tournament in awhile so most of us who were retired all came back just to participate and everyone was pretty rusty. The tournament really revived the scene and motivated us to play again, so hopefully we'll produce better videos in future tourneys.

Laugh: I used to be able to do it...didn't really trust my buffer execution anymore so i decided to just leave the meter for bison. I have no idea why i even decided to pick iori vs. blanka in the first place anyway. As for punishing blanka balls with late block and walk forward sweep, that shit is pretty tough.

Newplayer/Alex: I'm just a casual CVS2 player in Bugis :nunchuck:

There's CVS2 machines in KL? Cool. Last time I went Genting but was disappointed as there's no CVS2 there :crybaby: So where's the hottest spot in KL? Maybe I will drop by there for some action if I'm there next time

Hey CVS2 players from Singapore...I´m happy to see some matchmovies from you because I heard a lot of your scene from Mike (a guy who lived in singapore and is now living in Germany...perhaps some players know him) and from the players in Hong Kong who told me a lot about the Anthony´s skills.

Perhaps I will make it to Singapore one time and enjoy this wonderful place and the skills of the players there. :lovin:

I will post a link of the matchmovies into the a german forum. :wgrin:

btw I did not understand who won the tournament...in the 1st match player 1 won and in the 2nd player 2...so who won the tournament now?

To Japan?? If u can not get ALL WIN in HK, then think twice before going there.

That's why I think we lack a thread / forum which can gathering all cvs2 players information around the world.

If we have these info, then we can have some good matches with those local top players whenever we travel to other country.

I am lucky to have some contacts with Singapore & HK players in others Forum.
That's why i got the chance to play with them when i was there.

But, i got no ideas for other countries... even the one beside me... (Thailand) :wasted:

Yeah you guys should definitely lower the damage setting and get the speed to some sort of recognizable standard. SRK has a World forum, so maybe that will be of use to you guys. Right now it's just a bunch of Canadian threads but you guys could fix that if you really wanted to. I hope the scene over there in Singapore is still going strong!

I will be in Taiwan in a few weeks and maybe I'll make a couple of visa runs to Singapore or HK? Anyway maybe we'll play in the future. How come Rokiseph doesn't post anymore? He had some good Todo theory.

Iīm sure that I wonīt have any chance in japan but they play with default settings like we here in germany and I also want to know how high my lvl is.

the speed was my main problem in HK and also the start button...the start button is on a position where I hitted it nearly everytime when I made a electricity RC. here in germany and france we donīt have any arcades with CVS2 so we must play on PS2 with arcade sticks. thatīs a big difference.

but surely there were players that were better than me and I learned a lot from them. I improved my skills and I will surely return to face them again and the next time I will make a trip to Macau and perhaps to singapor too if I have enough time and money :wgrin:

US/Japan is Speed 3
Singapore is Speed 4
HK is Speed 5

On a side note, I've been seeing new people at the local arcade (Bugis). I dunno if they are new or old but there are people I've never seen before suddenly frequents the arcade.

Great tournament though, and I have to fight one of the people who knows what dumb shit I always fall for =(
