Is it useful to do a dummy tackle(don't hold punch) for your mixup game or am I wasting my time? It seems to work ok if you don't do it too much.

Yes its very useful.
Originally the tackle itself has to be blocked or parried low, either which one happens you are vulnerable to attacks.
When you don't hold down punch for the tackle and throw, it breaks the opponents guard and parry attempt.
Then again if your opponent is anticipating your throw after your tackle, you could just roll and avoid his throw attempt for a tech throw.
Now since you're using tackles and normal throws, the opponent can easily avoid those attempts by simply jumping away. Thats where seans qcf+k(Ryuubi Kyaku) comes in to prevent them from escaping that simple mixup. qcf+short is used for opponents jumping straight up, the forward version is people who jump back and roundhouse version is used for opponents who superjump back or people that have big arc jumps. Of course you could just use his EX and it homes in on people plus it can hit up to 3 times. The Ryuubi Kyaku is a misunderstood move as its not even near useful for an AA as people claim to use it.
But then again nobody really jumps away from sean tackles that I've seen.
