SRK Battle Poll Round 4 Day 1: The Real Folk Blues

The party was led through a veritable metropolis of modern skyscrapers and city entrapments, more at home on Earth than in their perception of the planet Mars.

"What gives? You said there'd be aliens." Jotaro Kujo asked the sprite Milo. "I want to punch some aliens."

"They're human, and Martians." Milo explained. "The future's a mysterious place. Kind of like how your universe got a reboot and reverted to the 1800s."

"...what?"

"Nothing. Anyway gang, let's stop here. I want you to look at the tall building erected in front of us. This is our destination, and unlike previous battlegrounds, we certainly won't be fucking invited."

"Whether or not we trespass is irrelevent," added Sagat. "Why does this matter now?"

"Because your opponents will now include the largest criminal organization this solar system has ever seen. They're called the Red Dragon Syndicate, and they're exclusive as all hell despite being enormous. Word has it, they only employ Chinese guys and Jews."

"So, no doubt they'll fire on us if we enter?"

"Probably. However, they'll focus most of their attention on that other guy. Let me show you." Milo led the group through the Syndicate's revolving doors. What followed was a brilliantly violent scene, with hundreds of hitmen firing in vain at a loan man with a trenchcoat and a green afro. "He's a ballsy bastard!"

Infamous bounty hunter Spike Spiegel has begun his final ascent to the top of the Syndicate's headquarters, hoping to face down his rival Vicious. In his way are a hail of bullets and explosives, and hitmen very determined to see Spike fall. This, of course, has some consequence for the fighters here, who will surely get caught in the crossfire. You will be fighting initially in the large lobby leading from the entrance, and can choose to move on to higher ground, from storming the bloody escalator and reaching the top floor; you may even choose to witness and participate in the final battle between Spike and Vicious.

Hazard Assists (Pick the wrong groove, and you might just loooose):

=Bang...= - 10 DMG
In this assist, your opponent is an unfortunate victim of circumstance. Whether grazed by a bullet or an explosion, or even if the poor schmuck gets caught in the huge escalator.

=See You Space Cowboy= - 10 DMG
Your fight somehow reaches the Red Dragon's chapel at the top of the building, where the roof is partially exposed as sunlight glistens on the stained glass windows surrounding. Your opponent is also unfortunate here, either a victim of Vicious's blade or of Spike's Jericho handgun.

If anyone needs any caps from any particular scene in the final episode (where this stage/day is derived) for visualization and story purposes, let me know. I can do caps of some of the other episodes as well, but it's not guaranteed.

Morrigan wrinkled her nose as though a foul odor offended it. This? she thought. This... homely, deformed excuse for a man is to be my next meal? She sighed. Ah well. As Q-Bee would say, if it's not good food, it had better be useful as roughage.

"Your reputation precedes you, sailor. Your feats are legendary. But I wonder... how long will you last against the mistress of the night?" Morrigan slowly levitated toward her opponent, trailed by a few of her bat familiars.

Popeye rolled up his sleeves and produced a can of his trademark spinach.
"Strongs to the finnich, succubusk!"

Megatron was offended by the sight of the now-populated Mars. "Bah! Carbon-based entities! Spreading beyond the confines their wretched Earth! It disgusts me."

"Hey there," a voice called.

"Who goes there?"

Megatron looked up, and saw aircraft different from the starships that usually filled the Martian skies. It was the airship of Setzer Gabbiani.

The gambler smirked. "Machination, mage, or monster...it matters not. The odds are always in my favor."

In the third matchup, a similar man-and-machine story was unfurling.

"I am honestly surprised that you got this far, human," said Zero.

"You best not underestimate me, then," replied Ralf. Indeed, the Ikari had been the revelation of the tourney so far. He had laid waste to two X-Men and a Power Ranger with ease. "I do believe I've punched those who did into the next life!"

Ralf paused and briefly thought of Maxima - and his partner K'. His world's Ernie and Bert. He continued. "So, just what is it with you cyborgs and buttsex?"

Zero gave the soldier an odd look, and then laughed. Having been taunted by Kenpachi for consecutive rounds previously, he was fortunately prepared this time.


"HUH! You're one to talk. Weren't you partners with that Clark guy for YEARS? Military's don't ask, don't tell and all that jazz? Hell, I suspect Heidern sent his daughter just to cover up the whole mess!"

"Why you!" snarled the Ikari. "I'll make scrap out of you. And rest assured, your nukes WON'T work on ME!"

"Heh. You've scored quite the upsets, human. Do not disappoint!"

iirc Undo can nullify it since it deals damage initially/counts as an offensive mode. But yeah, as it is, it's a Disease-in-a-can, and it becomes more evident now that Disease has been nixed.

Megatron was pleased with his instant victory, however he had more pressing matters to attend to although his teammates were eliminated, everything was still going according to *his* plan.

Making sure he wasn't followed he made his way back to the End of Reality.
Once there he made his way towards the abadoned temple in which he first entered this realm.
Outside the temple a robot bird comes flying towards him.

"Greetings Laserbeak! So far my plan is going smoothly"

The two make their way inside.

Deep inside the temple is some construction that controls the flow of time's energy itself, it quite resembles a complicated waterway.
Nearby the waterways multiple Decepticons can be seen draining energy from the flows and processing them into Energon cubes.

Megatron makes his way towards Soundwave who is overseeing the operation.

"Ah the work goes well Soundwave"

"Greetings Megatron, operation is proceeding as planned."

"How many Energon have been sent to Cybertron yet?" asks Megatron

"Last shipment was compiled of 5.000 Energon Cubes" replies Soundwave

"Excellent... Excellent! Soon we will have enough Energon to revitalise Cybertron and conquer the universe"
says Megatron as he oversees the working Decepticons
"Where's Starscream?"

"Starscream is unaccounted for" answers Soundwave

"We have no time to worry about that fool now... if we are succesfull not even he can jeapordise our cause any longer.

"Commander our troops are in position, awaiting further instructions.."

Where Serpentor questions Starscreams assault plan..

"I agree, I need their technology for Cobra's own use... This I command!"

Serpentor lifts off on his Air Chariot and inspires the massive troops gathered for battle.



Back at the Heaven Clash Tournament,

Megatron makes his way towards the battleground, as he awaits his opponent he takes a look around...
as he sees more humans flying around in their poorly designed vehicles..

"The flesh creatures inhabited Mars?! How revolting! The Autobots must have helped them to accomplish this.. there is no way they could
have evolved so far by themselves.."
As the Decepticon leader ponders on an airship approaches.. it's the ship of Sezter Gabianni.

While Megatron sees the ship approaching he contacts two of his Decepticon soldiers; Skywarp and Thundercracker.
"Skywarp, Thundercracker are you two on route?" asks Megatron

"Yes Megatron, we should reach our destination in two minutes" replies Thundercracker

"Excellent, Megatron out".

As Setzer's ship approaches the Syndicate's Headquarters, Megatron was already waiting in the large lobby.
Setzer takes a look at his fairly large opponent and then nods at Kerrigan, as he and Morrigan hop of his ship and make their way to
the lobby where all the matches start, Setzer wishes Morrigan good luck in her matches against Popeye.

However Setzer is not aware that Megatron has struck a deal with Vicious, in exchange for Skywarp and Thundercracker's help to eliminate Spike Spiegel, his mercenaries will also be aiding the Decepticon cause..


Meanwhile back on Earth, Autobots Headquarters..

"There's been no Decepticon activity for weeks now Prime, would could they be doing?" ask a small yellow robot towards his leader

"It's puzzling Bumblebee," replies the Autobot leader "Do you have any ideas Spike?" asks Optimus Prime at his human friend.

"Maybe we can let Powerglide patrol around a bit." proposes Spike

"Good idea Spike" replies Optimus Prime as he walks towards Powerglide who's helping the wheelchair bound human Chip Chase at Teletran One.
"Powerglide I want you to scout around and report on any Decepticon activity."

"Roger that Prime" says Powerglide as he runs out Autobot Base and transforms into plane mode and takes off.
"And Awaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy we go!" shouts Powerglide.
"For good old Powerglide, ace of the air, it's stunt flying time!!"

"Correction Autobot! As far as you're concerned it's crashing time!!"
shouts Starscream as he shoots down the Autobot from a nearby cliff.

The Autobots inside their base notice their crashing companion and the Decepticon
"Well you've got some guts, coming here alone Deceptibum!" taunts Ironhide

"Well then allow me to introduce my companions" says Starscream as a huge Cobra army pops up from behind the cliffs, lead by Serpentor himself.
"Attack, Cobraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!"

"Why didn't Teletran One alert us?" asks Wheeljack as he runs towards the main computer

"Because Autobot..." answers Chip as he stands up from his wheelchair

"Chip?! You can walk?" asks Bumblebee in shock

"I disabled it!!!" shouts Chip with a smirk as he unveils himself as Zartan, the master of disguise!

"No! What have you done with Chip!" shouts Spike in shock

"Nothing compared to this!" shouts Zartan as he grabs a gun stocked below the wheelchair and shoots Bumblebee in the kneecaps.
Bumblebee falls over, as Prime rushes out to help the little Autobot. Zartan makes a run to exit the base and join his fellow Cobra members.
"Soon it will be over Autobots, Muhohohohohohahahaha!"

"Let's get those bastards!" shouts Ironhide as he and other Autobots run towards the base exterior to fend off the Cobra Assault.
"No!" shouts Prime "We cannot harm the humans! We have to find another way..."

"But they're terrorists Optimus!" shouts Spike "Who knows what they did to Chip?!"
"We have to do something!" adds Ironhide

Optimus Prime faces dilemma and sighs..
"Very well... but only take out they're vehicles and machinery.. do not harm the humans themselves.."


Back on Mars..

As Setzer enters the lobby Megatron smirks, as he is immediatly greeted by gunfire from multiple hitmen, dodging the bullets he
makes a break towards the huge elevator, believing it to be a safe passage to regroup.
Megatron allows Setzer to take the elevator upstairs..

Outside the building Skywarp and Thundercracker accompanied by several mercernaries jets open fire upon the elevator, which is nearing the top floor.
The mercenaries inflict substanial damage upon the elevator, damaging the wires that pull the device.
Setzer is shocked as he sees the Decepticon jet Skywarp come in for the critcal blow.
As Skywarp shoots out the wiring he mocks "Have fun playing splatterslag human, byeeeeeeeeeee!!"

While elevator crashes down with Setzer in it towards the floor.
Megatron contacts his Decepticon soldiers:
"Skywarp, Thundercracker make your way towards chapel on the top of the building and assist our "ally" in his further needs."
The two do as they are told and fly towards the chapel, where they transform into robot mode and guard Vicious.

While Megatron walks up towards the remains of the crashed elevator.
"Now you see gambler, power flows to the one who knows...
Muhahahahahahaha!"

Yes, Undo nulls the "poison" effect of Suffering Circuit, which is the only surviving Disease skill that's still around.

Not to slight Jaldaboath or anything, but... Worthless Scrub, please Undo that Suffering Circuit immediately. I no longer want to have to count hours of Disease Gay.

Suffering -> T&N -> Suffering -> Chain -> Blunt -> Fraternity -> Suffering = 1 SP remaining


After Edits:
Suffering -> Fraternity -> Suffering -> Chain -> Blunt -> T&N -> Sufering = 2 SP remaining

Fraternity is essentially just a more expensive T&N, as both allow you to cast the same skill again. The result of the edits is that I end up with one more SP I can't spend in any form or way possible, but makes the SP halving and therefore, the tallying easier. I have no reason to try and cheat, but if you think it's unsporting of me, I'll be happy to change it back.

And a heads up WS: you forgot to take in account the cost of your T&N'd undo, you might want to check it out.

I have GM'ed several campaigns and even fallen on this pitfall unconciously several times, I gave someone a broken ability and ended up raising the stakes against him without ever noticing it. If I recall correctly Justin Achilli (WhiteWolf Publishing) called these kind of ocurrences "The Director Vices" and it's derived from a similar effect in novel writing. Another example would be Superman, whom has to be weakened to make the stories interesting, they don't do it to fuck him up, but to be able to make an story around him. Since I saw his Undo, I thouoght "That's illegal, but it will make me lose, i know it."

Sorry if I sound bitter, but I really poured tons of effort in the poll so far for nothing: AW just left in disgust, OT and Diek just dropped it and went for Raw votes and we have... what? 10 voters? I don't mind losing, but...

Redemption
Zero had gone insane, his slashes completely random; the voice in his head had already started to psyche him out "Snap out of it Zero!" cried the voice. But Zero refused to budge, instead shooting and slashing wildly to everything around him. And the futuristic landscape was showing it. But Ralf was holding still together, he had to finish him up and he had to do it fast.

The maverick reploid started shooting his orange replicas but Ralf deflected one of them towards him. Zero became engulfed in a mass of energy caused by this division by 0.

Ora ora ora orah! ORAH!

His last flaming punch ripped through the electric field and smashed Zero's head crystal. A purple blast rippled through the battlefield as the Satsui no Hadou left his body.

Ralf stood up from the rubble with a nasty headache, just in time to see Zero emerge from the rubble. He was no longer black, his normal red armor was back and he no longer emanated purple flames. "Where... am I?" He stood in confusion, then all that had happenned since he was tossed to hell came back to him in a flash. "X!" Zero turned around and jumped towards ralf, he picked up a rock that was pinning the Ikari Warrior down and helped him to his feet. "Thank you... I thought I was never coming back to myself"

"Huh?" Ralf still dizzy from the blast but he knew he had won. "Now I have to help X!"
