Christmas as a holiday is pretty sweet. You get presents, get to give other people presents, and see your family. It's a general all around fun time.

You can be a grinch and focus on the negative aspects and sit there brooding in your cave at the top of your snowy mountain, or you can just enjoy it.

Commercialism and greed are rampant throughout our entire society and you encounter them on a daily basis. Christmas is just a time of the year when companies take that greed/commercialism and amplify it to such a degree to get consumers so amped up that they will punch each other over Elmo's.

Worked at Circuit City last year for black friday.

Before the doors opened, people were already pushing and shoving. These 2 huge white guys, whom didn't want to wait in line, threatened to just shove their way to the front once the doors opened. Our manager had to call the cops just to maintain order. The cops also removed the 2 white guys from the line.

My girlfriend told me she wanted one. It doesn't seem too bad once you wipe it clean with your own install of the OS and install just the drivers needed and shit. Bloated software bundles = no. She told me she only wants to use it to surf the net and burn an occasional CD. Unless a similar deal for a Dell lappy can show up on the net before Saturday night, then I'm probably gonna pick this up. *shrug*

I went to the Compusa thing at 8:30, about 100 people ahead of me. There were like 300 in line. My parents cut in where I was. We got everything cept the router my dad was looking at. Really no superb deals, nothing much more than what they usually have on sale. They pulled the popular items off the shelves and set up what they literally called a "racetrack". So you had to run around in a circle like an idiot to find what you wanted. Total BS. People shopping in the store weren't too bad (they let us in in groups of 5-10 at a time).

I just stood in line for my parents and didn't find anything I wanted cept a USB drive that no one wanted.

I also got my girl a Sandisk 1 GB mp3 player for $35, some craptacular $5 DVD-Rs, an 8" $49.99 Insignia portable DVD player for my brother, and Motorola Bluetooth earpiece for $14.99. The line took about 40 minutes to get through and I was sweating balls from standing inside with all my camping layers on.

I stopped by Target, and there lines were just as insane as Best Buys, probably even slower. I skipped Toys R Us and went to Meijer to buy Monopoly, because it was only $3. Now I am broke and am going to go shower and pass the fuck out.

First off, I live in a shit town so everyone who was at Best Buy was poor white trash... or Mexican... so for 3 hours I had to listen to "Marge" and "Jim" ramble about how they thought they would get everything/something.

There had to have been 500-800 people there. The line ended 5 stores over.

A few people tried to cut and I yelled at one dude and the cop laughed. And a few old ladies mobbed another dude who tried to cut.

Also, I as well as my gf were very disappointed because people were camping out since Wed morning at our local best buy. It was so fucking lame/annoying because the family/large group up front bought the max of everything that was "large"!

I go up there to camp but I see a huge line extending across the parking lot. There was no ridiculous amount of people like you guys are saying here, but to me it was a lot. I thought I wasn't gonna get the item my customer paid for, so I decided to leave (bad mistake.)

5AM Thursday Morning

I got up, and decided that hey, who knows what might happen if I go, I might be able to get one (Westinghouse 22W2) so I got dressed, took the bus down there and was there by 6:19. I go to the computers area and I found that plenty of people had the Westinghouse 22W2's and these were people that were there 1hr 20 minutes away from open time. I found an asian guy that had TWO of these. I tell him that theres a limit of 1 per customer, he plays stupid and wouldn't give 1 of them up. So I talked to the cashier and he said that if he brings a family member and he purchases it, then theres nothing he could do about it. Sure enough, the son paid for it and I was screwed.

I eventually found Star Wars Empire Strikes Back (LE/Widescreen) for 10 bucks, I wait in line for like 1+ hr and made my way home. I learned a lot today. I should have either camped out, or have been there at 5AM sharp. If I would have been there at opening, I probably would have gotten one. I lost about 100 in profit so I only got myself to blame.

I'm working right now and I drove by a couple stores on the way into the office. Sheesus you could've sworn they were selling drugs with how many people are outside in parking lots right now.

I usually don't shop for anything big on BF. I already have a Wii, so I'm good with video game systems. I have YET to see anything worth camping out for besides that lappy at WalMart I got for my girlfriend a couple weeks ago (which my girlfriend loves, btw...I got her to watch Heroes on it hahah). I get off work at 3pm today. If I'm not dead tired, I'll see if I can pick up some blank DVDs or a USB flash drive or something.

Heh, some people got arrested at the Circuit City here. They had tried to cut in line and the cops told them to leave or get arrested. For some reason, they got in their car and drove back around to talk some more shit to the cops...they eventually end up arresting the family...the dad, I THINK the other dude was the son, and the wife. Damn you guys are hard core. My sister and I stayed up all night and got to Best Buy at 4:45 am and the line was wrapped in a circle around the store.

I got MGS3 and VF4 for $10 each, and my sister got a one gig flash drive and one gig mp3 player for about $50. We went across the street to Circuit City and got about ten awesome DVDs for $40. She was dying to get House season 1 for $12.99 but to no avail.

It was really crazy. I'm glad I went.
