Since cvs2 peeps can't even fill page 1 of gen. strat. I decided to post some semi-useful filler.

What the title means is a way to cancel a fierce attack in case a grab doesn't come out but intead a close fierce/rh comes out and be safe/do more shit. So if you were simply too far to grab, didn't wait long enough after block strings, expected a wake up RC but they didn't so you just get a fierce/rh, these are some things you could do.

Sak - A blocked close fierce is punishable with sagat st.fierce if I remember correctly. So everytime you try to grab, cancel into mk hurricane kicks just in case you don't get a grab. Applies to both close fierce and rh, since they're both cancelable but close fierce is what really needs this. FB would be nice but when I throw, I'm usually walking forward so I'll probably just get a dp instead and fuck myself over. Canceling into FB is useful if you think the opponent's gonna wakeup RC, aka Blanka.

Rolento - Applies to fierce throw. Rolento has a bigger throw range than the norm but sometimes people don't wait long enough after poking with jabs and get a close fierce instead of a throw. Cancel into PPP.

Iori - Applies to fierce. Cancel into Rekka if you were walking toward them to grab, and use FB against possible wakeup RC attempts.

Ken - Applies to fierce and close rh. If you were walking towards to throw, then you could only cancel from fierce since if you fuck up rh throw you get the thrust kick thingie. Cancel into lk funky kicks. Against possible wakeup RCs, use either fierce or rh holding back and cancel into funky kicks. Against characters that can duck funky kicks, use jab or mp FB.

Ryu - He can only do this in a wakeup RC situation. Hold back fierce as they get up and cancel into jab FB (you'll probably get the red one).

Kyo - Possible wake up attempts. Hold back rh and cancel into jab rekka.

Raiden - This isn't really a cancel. After you grab with him, do dp+punch at the teched reversal timing. If you got a tech and a reversal afterwards, you flip them upside down. Risk factor: high.

Sagat - Applies to both fierce and rh (only the 1st hit). Cancel into lk low tigershot. This still might not be that safe, but it's a lot safer than a blocked/hit close fierce. Since he's got a dp move, it's better to use this in RC wakeup situations since you can hold back to do it. This is good if you use the 2p glitch to get into the corner but wanna throw them back in to the corner as well.

Rugal - close fierce. cancel into FB. A block close fierce leaves you wide open, kinda like Sagat but a little worse. I think close rh is cancelable also. Since his dp is done with kick, you can do this even if you were walking forward.

Geese - Applies to fierce. Cancel into mp repuken. Although toward+fierce is a special normal, it's still cancelable and doesn't overlap with another move so you could still do this.

Vega - Use against possible wakeup RC attempts. Hold back rh XX KKK.

Kyosuke - Hold back fierce xx FB.

Yamazaki - Applies to fierce. He's got a lot of specials he can cancel into from close fierce. You can sandkick, dp+hp, qcb+hp (don't do this against people that can punish it).

If you know more stuff like these, post up.

Note that some of these are not 100% safe. I'm sure certain characters can still punish you with fast normals, specials, and supers but in most cases doing these things will help you.

iori (HP), kyo (HK), and ken (HK) don't actually need to cancel their attacks, although you'd need to use ken's HP throw for this to work, unless your're closer to the corner then b+HK would be smart stuff

geese also might be able to get away with close HK as well, the 2nd hit is safe when blocked

it's generally better for rolento to cancel into jab back-roll

jab backwards roll is safe. I don't think PPP is punishable either. Time for training mode?

I forgot to put in Chun. You can do it with both fierce and rh. Cancel into fierce FB or spinning bird kick.

Rock can do it with FB for both fierce and rh.

Another application for these is if you want to get a guaranteed guard crush/grab. Say you knocked down the other guy with little guard bar, and their character doesn't have invincible moves besides RCs and has no super. Doing the same technique and canceling into a more guard-chipping special (ie. dp) would either give you the GC or give you a throw if they tried to RC.

I guess I'm used to the command and inputs to do spinning bird kick from standing normals.

Theoretically...

you would want to use RH and only press 5 buttons. Actually, a long ass time ago I used to do that playing with Chun. It would work the same with Blanka's fierce throw into elec also...you just can't RC it for safety, but you do tech throws with it.

off the top of my head a few of these are already safe: iori fierce (+0), kyo rh (+0), and chun fierce (also +0 i think?)

Oops. That's why I just play and try not to theory fight Allen.

I think it works in the Xbox version...but yeah, it'll only work when you're activated...but that might be a useful reset if you drop it.

But yeah, that Chun shit is dope, I think on fat characters you can run up rh, legs, strong xx super.

Heh...use one of those up close against an opponent, then do super afterwards. Freakin...alexis always gets me with that and it sucks :annoy:
