View Full Version : Graduation quotes/What should mine be?

So SRK, It's time for me to graduate, and as per the norm I must come up with some sort of quote to be put in the year book. I'm not sure if I can sum everything I want to say in it.
So I was wondering if you have any suggestions/what did you use as your quote when you graduated.
I was thinking something like... either a sappy shout out type thing that everyone does, some sort of one liner or a SF or other fighting game quote
Imagine looking back on your yearbook and reading "You must defeat sheng-long to stand a chance!"

Well, you may want to put something down that 30 years from now you won't look back and say to yourself, "wow, I was a complete idiot when I thought that would be funny/cool."

Use something funny; don't bother with that sappy garbage, you'll stay in touch with the important people.
I used the line from Seinfeld about "when you take everything I've done and compress it down into one day, it looks decent". Simple, funny, thought-provoking, and I doubt it will look retarded 10 years from now.
Of course, that's because I didn't have the luxury of graduating in the same year as....

put something you actually say as a quote. isnt there a phrase that you always use that people expect you to say? Those are the only meaningful quotes. Don't put something deep, or you will seem pretentious or at worst emo. if you put some video game quote, you will look like a jackass, and during youre reunion 10 years from now they will read your street fighter quote and everyone will laugh at you, trust me. I remember some stupid geek put a star wars quote, and now people will always remember him as a joke. i actually cracked up just now thinking about it.

"GAME......OVER!!!!" - Raul Julia in his finest role ever.
"Well, I'm not going home. I'm gonna get on my boat, and I'm going up river, and I'm going to kick that son of a bitch Bison's ass so hard that the next Bison wannabe is gonna feel it! Now, who wants to go home... and who wants to go with me?" - Col. Guile(don't write it out like that though. You have to insert the Belgium accent)
"This is merely superconductor electromagnetism. Surely you've heard of it. It levitates bullet trains from Tokyo to Osaka. It levitates my desk, where I ride the saddle of the world. And it levitates... me!" - Raul Julia
Fuck man, SF the movie has too many good quotes.
EDIT -
Bison: What's the matter? You come to fight a madman, and instead find a god? Do you still refuse to accept my godhood? Keep your God! In fact, now may be a good time to pray to Him! For I beheld Satan as he came down from Heaven!

SF is one of the most quotable franchises out there. You could quote Blanka ("Aarooh Aarooh") and you'd still be a God.
The Contra code is pretty good though.

Interestingly, my chemistry teacher actually just said out the whole code one day randomly and then said "that's how you get 30 men in Contra"... I was the only one laughing.

I was seriously joking myself on both posts so yea I got it. I'd never put any video game references like that as my yearbook quote. I'd laugh at it still if some kid put something like that though.
I can't even fully remember what I put as mine I think it was along the lines of passing my luck with women on to 2 buddies from HS. I felt it was pretty ambiguous cause of very hot and very cold spells I have but yea I got your joke.

Mine was originally going to be Ryu's entire (Or maybe it was a slightly truncated version) ending from World Warrior (arcade version).
http://www.vgmuseum.com/end/arcade/a/streetryu.htm
But it was too damn long. In fact, our graduating class was the first that had to pay for our senior quotes if we wanted them. Cheap shit.
So I had to settle for some Magic flavortext
"Fight with a friend at your back, steel in your hands, and magic in your veins." -Quirion Creed
As far as recommendations go, the thread already has a good share, but I'll add:
"When I grow up, I want to be a principal or a caterpillar." -Ralph Wiggum
"Hey guys. Ah you know, it's funny; These people, they go to sleep. They think everything's fine, everything's good. They wake up the next day and they're on fire." -GI Joe PSA fenslerfilm redub
Mike Tyson has some good quotes, too

A lot of people used song quotes or quotes from famous people about going through life and such. Personally, I didn't really care about doing anything insightful because I don't respect a person more or less if their high school quote is insightful or not. However, if it is funny as hell I will laugh.
Mine was
"Dry land is not a myth, I've seen it! Kevin Costner, Waterworld."
Jim Carrey "The Cable Guy"
quote within a quote.

"Two mental patients try to escape from the mental institution. They make it to the roof, but then quickly notice a huge gap between the mental institution and the building next to it. The gap is much too big to jump. The first inmate, in a stroke of genius, tells the second 'Don't worry, I have a flashlight, I can shine the light along the gap and you can walk across on it.' The second inmate looks at the first, completely aghast and exclaims, "Are you crazy?!" after a long pause he continues "You'll turn the light off when I'm halfway across."
So yea, that's what highschool was like for me."
