I never really got into the whole online banking and bill paying thing before because i never felt secure enough to do it but now im setting up all of my bank accounts/credit cards/ cell phone bills etc all online, and slowly moving from waiting on the slow statements to come in the mail to pay the bills...

what are your thoughts about online banking and bill paying is it secure enough for u? do you stay away from the internet + your personal bank accounts/credit cards/bills etc.?

any pros and cons in the online vs statements/mailed bills debate

ironically, i just found out i had an outstanding charge on my paypal account. i forgot i bought a book in the summer with paypal buyer credit and hadn't paid it since july. OOPS.

$20 book = $120 bucks in late fees

if you're forgetful, you should always have a statement mailed to you and try not to rely on shit online. this was my first ever fuck up.

I keep track and reconcile all my account activity online definitely, but as far as paying bills I'm old school. I do direct deposit and transfer funds from checking to savings regularly online, but paying bills, I prefer to get the bill in the mail and send the check.

In the event of paying off the Discover card, I just personally go to any Sears with the check and statement which is just as good, since Sears = Discover.

9 times out of 10 paying online w/ CC is anywhere from Instant to 24hrs.

But I'll tell you how Chase just fucked me, I paid my electric bill on 12/5 - it posted up up that day just like my Time Warner did.

Well on 12/18 it posted.......AGAIN and over drafted me - BAD I had to give over 400 to they bitch asses in overdraft fees alone cause I was running around spending money I thought I had.

Keep in mind I check the chase site 3 times daily - I had cash in there on 12/16

Me personaly - I'm leaving the card alone, going back to cash - the checking will just be for DDeposit and Online Billpay.
