I'd like to relay some advice that I've gotten from the boards regarding Elena. She can't combo off low hits, so basically all you can rely on to combo are punishment-chances and hopeful pokes that connect.

On XBL though, her overheads are no joke. Hell, you can overhead and kara-throw with her all day and win easily.

Low tiers are extremely frustrating to play as. But if that's the character you like, go for it bro. I used to play Twelve all the time as well as the entire roster, but in the end I ended up with like 5 main characters and 1 go-to guy.

3 overheads in a row with Elena is considered some lag shit. If it was a good connection, I'd parry that shit. The only times you hit me with the overhead was when I was blocking low and then trying to block high on reaction, but lag wouldn't let me. So yeah, stop doing 3 overhead specials in a row with Elena, that's that lag ish

LOL. I love playing against Elena scrubs. I know I'll have to look for BS high low mix ups the entire fight. In any event...Elena is a very strong character IMO. Not top tier but if she was any better she'd be at least top mid going on top. You're giving the guy the wrong image of Elena by mentioning her as a low tier. She's just a straight up solid mid tier and in a game like 3rd Strike that's enough to win tourneys or at least beat other top tier characters.

Elena may not have the scary low options that characters like Ken and Chun have but her pokes still beat a majority of the characters in the game and she actually has a decent matchup vs. Chun. Well...compared to other characters in the game. All of her jump ins give Chun a hella hard time (Chun has no real answer for her j.MK cross up) and her s.HK/b.HK are good for spacing against Chun's pokes and even jump over her c.MK. Even with that Chun is still a worse match up for her than Ken and Ken is only favored cuz of his options. She can still go toe to toe with him easily. Yun is Yun but if she can catch him before he activates she can beat him. Yun's pokes aren't necessarily top tier any ways and she has good AA's for dive kicks.

I would say the only real issue with Elena is that like you already mentioned...without low verifiable options to do damage she lacks the scare factor of the higher tiered characters. With that...her high low mix ups and mix ups in general are still among the best in the game and her poking game is just as good or better than the majority of the cast. The only reason Elena isn't used more often is because Chun Li plays somewhat similarly and is just clearly better overall. I guess that brings up another incentive to use Elena then because Chun Li is borderline unplayable online any ways. Hit confirming with Chun in the lag is way harder than it should be.

Elena is hella fun to use though and with practice (well...in some ways she can be braindead herself) she can be a fearsome character. Oh and Twelve is top tier. He is.

I've only really looked at Elenea from a learning standpoint, on one or two occassions and I have to agree. There's nothing bad about the character to justify how unpopular she is.

I enjoy Elena's play style. Its fun to use SA3 and get a perfect on someone when you wouldnt of. I also enjoy playing with Oro, Sean and Q.
