Sorry if this has been asked but if I buy a 360 membership can I use it for regular xbox?

I think you can. Recover your gamer tag on the original Xbox and that should do it...

Or call 1-800-4MYXBOX. they can walk you through it.

Certainly if you buy an XBL sub for your original xbox, it's portable to a 360, so I don't know why it wouldn't work the other way around.

Yeah my thinking as well. I'm pretty sure it covers both either way.
