I just got a copy of 3 for my xbox so I could play online (I'm used to playing on PS2) and The controls feel incredibly strange to me. I'm sure I'm not the only one who had to deal with this at one point or another so if you could please post what type of button configuration you play with with the ups and downs of your set up I'd appreciate it.

Xbox | PS2
L -> R2
R -> L2
the Square, X, Circle, Triangle buttons are the same as Xbox.
Meh, it's something like that. You can always test it out in Training Mode or Arcade Mode [Start Menu]

I mean I have alot of trouble using the trigers, the left one in particular. I was wondering if most people just get used to it or change the default settings of the buttons. For those that change the default buton configuration, what do you have set as what?

Man, I hate to sound like a prick or elitest, I'm not sure how serious you are about 3S or fighters. But I can't help but recomend you get a stick. Unfortunately your options for a decent Xbox stick are slim (Mainly thinking the Anniversary collection one, which is ok). To me it's more fun to play on them, you don't run into this type of situation, and if you ever play on other consoles/arcades, you got the feel down for sticks.
Sorry though, can't help you on the actual controller issue :/

Dont use the left trigger learn to use the black button with the ball of your thumb. i felt the same way. youll get used to this way a lot quicker. Good luck fellow pad user.

Get a stick or a Saturn pad w/ converter. S-pad is garbage for fighting games, unless you spend weeks getting past the frustration and finally getting accustomed to it...

Yeah no problem. Dont worry though Youll get used to this a lot faster than using BOTH triggers. basically i let my left hand move my character while my right does the rest. Use the right trigger for feirce punch. Black for Feirce kick and everything as default basically. Youll haveto get used to using Ex moves though depending on which character you use. But whatev, good luck.

Hell Murder your a fucking weirdo. LOL Jk I love you. When We gonna play again? New GT is Waggs1906, hit it up.
Left Trigger -> Short
Right Trigger -> Jab
Inner Two Buttons -> Strong, Forward
Outer Two Buttons -> Fierce, Roundhouse
SNES Street Fighter style baby! :tup:

I use the left trigger as fierce and right trigger as roundhouse. For PS2 I use L1 as Fierce and R1 as Roundhouse. Old school SNES style. Using the left trigger isnt hard at all. I mean look at me, I've got excellent execution and I use the left trigger with no problem. I do standing 360s with Hugo with the left trigger and crazy comboes with Ibuki with no problem... dood.

I was never a "left trigger" guy. Grew up on the Sega Genesis 6 button style and Saturn style. My dad always used to use his fingers to hit the buttons like at the arcade so I just got adjusted to it. Which is why it was easy for me to get into arcade sticks when it became easy to mod PS pads.

I'll delete your old name and add the new. I wore in my old s-pad so badly that I have to get a new one now. :lol:

I dunno how you do it dood. I have enough trouble doing Makoto SA2 on the twins in the corner with the left trigger as it is =(

:pray::pray::pray::wink: I've been playing with that button lay out since SF2 came out for SNES in '92, so it more natural for me to use that set up than anything else. Plus, it carried over to Dreamcast set up and PS1 & PS2 set up so easily since they also have the shoulder buttons... dood.

I went for the PS Saturn Pad (http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-m-49-en-70-rbt.html) and the MagicBox Adapter/Converter/whatevar (http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-gm-49-en-70-1gk.html).
Works pretty good for me (even better than the stick I bought)

Edit: And where did you get it? >.<

When I used to play SF on a Playstation controller my setup is as follow.
X= LP
Sqaure = MP
Triangle = HP
Circle = HK
R1 = MK
L1 = LK
Strange but this comes from playing SF2 and SF2 Hype on SNES and since the PS controllers are a rip/evolution of the SNES controller it works like butter for me.

This is exactly my current setup. After jumping onto the import Saturn sceen of the mid 90s with 2D fighters I started to love the Saturn pad. So now this is what I rock with.

PS Saturn pad is the next best thing to an arcade stick.

I just use white as fierce punch and black for fierce kick instead of the 2 triggers. I wish i could just find a good xbox stick so i could start practice using them.

Well, I got mine at play-asia (best next to lik-sang before they got closed down for doing whatever the hell they were doing to piss Sony off), but it seems they're all out of stock (even the ugly ones).
I've been looking for one meself, as a backup for the two (of which one has a busted fierce button:/) i already own.

Yeah, I can't play SA2 Makoto because I can combo left trigger > super maybe 2/10 of the time. It's always embarassing when I mess up the bread and butter after denjin because it's awkward left triggerness, too. That one's not too bad, though.

The solution to the xbox trigger/controller problem seems to be a unanimous "get a magic box." As many people have already mentioned however these things are damn hard to come by. I would be content with a responsive PS2 controler-->Xbox just so I could play with buttons instead of triggers (not to mention a much better D pad). I have found a number of these ps2 to xbox converters on websites for sale so I was wondering if anyone knows which the best one is for 3s.

How long did the shipping take and how much did the shipping cost?
Qugstav

Per controller I paid a total of US$ 24.60, of which US$ 4.70 was shipping costs. (play-asia) As for the shipping time, it was suprisingly short, I think about 5/6 days all the way from wherever the hell in Asia their stock is located.
(I ordered the controllers separately because of some unreasonable tax laws up here)
The MagicBox cost me €26, plus shipping at €9 (lik-sang), far longer delivery time from lik-sang as it was close to two weeks, not that it should be a problem anymore, I guess.
