Don't hope that a few "tweaks", if any, for your local port version is going to save it. It needs to go back to the drawing board and overhaul the entire concept.
Over 150,000 sold in the first week is a pretty good figure, but the ratio of satisfied vs unsatisfied customers is like 9:1. Tons of bad reviews have been written.
Seiken fans in particular are immensely disappointed that they waited a decade for a piece of excrement like this.
The price of the game has already tumbled from 7000(USD58.80) to 4000(USD33.60) yen in a mere week (on Amazon.co.jp) The resale market is flooded because no one wants to keep it. Amazon has no choice but to match the resale market price or they get stuck with stock no one wants to buy.

Damn, I didnt even know that game was out. Sounds like they really messed it up, too:( I loved SD3......
then again, what htey chose for Legend of Mana wasn't too terribly good either. Good game engine, virtually no story....
Seriously, how hard is it to make a 3 player action RPG??!?!?!? I think tht is what everyone wants the most and they have yet to deliver again:(

Yeah I was shocked when I walked by the game store today and SOM 4 was out! I had seen it hyped up for awhile in magazines and then all of a sudden with no fanfare it was out. I asked the dude at the store how the reputation was and he said 'kinda ok'. Good thing I checked gamefaqs before throwin down the 5800 yen for it.

I love SD3.....I have a kid named after one of the charcters....
At least SD3 still had 2 player action going on, so it was all good. SOM's 3 player was what sucked me into RPG's (well, that and the music). When I found out Legend of Mana didnt have multiplayer, I was annoyed (it did have some, but it was like a secret or something....and all you got where the NPC's). With today's technology, there should be no reason for them not including multiplayer support in a game other than sports or party games.
Seems like Squeenix are just shitting on the series. It reached its pinnacle in SD3, but after Legend of mana, it has really fallen off. Seems like it is ther just more for experimenting than anything else. Now we are in a game that resets your level to 1 on EVERY stage just so that you have to use the environment to gain exp points and what not..... Heroes of Mana looks like an actual interesting prequel to SD3, though, even though it is a strategy RPG.
Since there seem to be Mana lovers here, what was the main story of Legend of Mana? It seems there were the 3 major subplots, but i dont remember one major story uniting it all.....

Anybody here about Return of Mana? It's a patch for Half-Life 2,although I still believe it is incomplete.Everything is supposed to be based off of the Half-Life 2 engine.

The teams that put together the Mana games are different from the teams that put together the FF games. Doesn't have much to do with SE really.

supposedly that game changed so much since the JP release that comparing it to the JP release isn't even valid anymore. I don't know how much has changed but if it still has those twin towers............
