I played you yesterday buddy and the connection was horrible, how bad was it before you upgraded? It was probably due to XBL in general why our connection was so laggy though, night time usually seems more laggy to me.
On a side note, I don't use my router at all. When it comes to XBOX LIVE, I disconnect my modem from it and use it straight to the XBOX so that it's the only thing using the connection. I usually only have bad connections from West Coast players, Overseas players and way up north players like from Canada... dood.

XBL is a peer to peer connection. So even though you might have a direct connection with your xbox to the internet, your friend might be on a router and if his routers firmware is old and his ports are closed you will still suffer from a shit connection.
Thats why if everyone does their job in upgrading their firmware on their routers and open their ports everyone would enjoy a better connection.

We were having like 1 sec to 1.5 secs of delay yesterday in that set. It must have been really rough before you upgraded... dood.

It was really bad, every match and I MEAN EVERY MATCH had pauses... Like it was someone hitting the start button to pause the game every 20 secs. People that I used to be able to connect to I couldnt any longer. I used to have a flawless connection with a few people but that was all but a distant memory. Untill I upgraded, granted there will still be laggy games however, I can play with a lot of people the game wouldnt allow me to connect to prior the update. The 20 sec pause crap is gone and I have found a lot of near flawless connection again.

I couldn't show you any of my skills with Twelve and Ibuki yesterday and none of my fake Hayate's were working at all with Makoto. Ugh, I was playing so aweful in that connection, well, that and I haven't been on XBL in about 2 weeks and haven't been playing much 3rd Strike at all... dood.

Project, do you have a wireless router with a wep activated? Wep can really take away from your connection. I had to disable mine to get my full speed even though my xbox and pc are on wire. Just watch out for peeps trying to hijack your wireless.

Yup I have WEP but i have a security on my WEP. Hex 64-bit code to get on my network. You Wifi router guys, you dont do put a security on your WiFi router anyone in the area can steal your internet and lag you down.

Yeah I know that and I keep track of who is connected to my router. I don't let anyone hijack my shit. Do a speed test here http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/ then disable the wep temporaraly and look at the difference. I gained a whole 2 MB's of upload and 2 MB's of download when I turned mine off. If anything you can turn it off while you play SF then turn it back on.

That's weird, anyway I was wrong. It was resettting my router that improved the speed not turning off the wep. I guess it just needs a good reset every once in a while. But from what I hear wep can reduce connection quality on a wireless network.

Yea it can if people dont put a security on it anyone can start downloading porn while you are playing 3s and not even know it.
You know what really helps to? Port Fowarding, I opened my ports for my Xbox 360 and Xbox last night and since then Ive gotten much better connections. If you want me to help you with that, let me know. Ill be on AIM.

Nah I know how to do that already. I usually leave my xbox as dmz with qos settings so everything on my xbox is top priority. From what I know ports dont improve connections, they just make it less of a problem to connect to certain people. I could be wrong though.
