View Full Version : Trying to decide... Yun or Dudley

After the other day and watching some more vids, i am honestly considering playing dudley. Now... i've put alot of effort into 3s as of late and yun is my thing currently. I can do alot of his major shit in genijin but i really need to go back to basics with him. With dudley he is more ment for poking, and i have nearly all his big combos down.

So... should i stick to being a karapalm fiend.... or pick up the stun machine?

Why are you so indecisive all the time with who you want to play? This is why its so hard for alot of peopel to improve because they are way to busy hopping around from character to character not learning everything there is to know about the character they were just playing. Making it alot harder for them to improve over all because they never really learned everything with the character they were playing previously. You have been playing Yun this long so just stick to the character that you want to play....

Interesting. My bro's 2 best characters are Yun and Dud too. I say pick Urien cuz he's serious business.

Also, there are some characters that share the same trait as others. It isn't that hard to adapt from playing one style to another similar one. (Just a generalized catagorization) Speed characters, defensive characters, solid characters. All along the spectrum (IMO) you can pick up other characters that fit within that style of play -- easily. Hell, (if this is Shade, I can't keep track of all his new accounts) you've picked up many characters as well haven't you?

Play however you want dude. You bought the game, you play it.

Yes i did learn alot of characters when i played but that was also because i was playing casually. He is trying to get better at the game to be a high level contender. Its different when you arent playing casually.

Honestly, i'm going to try and be a contender, but since a majority of my play will be casual i might learn both.

Yun i need to learn alot of spacing with, dudley is a little more lenient with how you play him IMO.

I know you got your advice you needed, glad there. With Duds, his technical stuff really isn't that complex, but what I think most have difficult with is he has so many options, they get lost as to what to use and when. Just try not to feel overwhelmed with all his different options, play em out, get use to his flow and how he works, cause he deffinitely feels different than Yun.

I'm not doubting your 3S skills either, but don't go for the real flashy stuff right off the bat. Get the basics down with Duds, the easy stuff that stuns. You said you got his big combos down so that's good.

Have fun with it. That's the biggest problem with good fighting games like 3S. So many worthwile characters to play it's tough to decide who you like most :D

Then make sure to stick with your choice and you should be fine.

Yun has one real type of play style by K.O and that wins tourneys But this live and kicking peeps ass with a mid tier will just improve your skill. All I can say is just watch Fujiwara use duds and I think you will make the right Choice.

Unless ur godly with Yun, id go with Dudley Or at least make him ur second character. I'm sure there are many more pro yun players out there than there are Dudley players, so the chances of people knowing wut ur gonna do @ any given time are less than if u were use'n yun. And yes, he can stun like no other. How can u do wrong with Dudley???

He's got the fastest (i think) Hk & Hp in the game with good priority, Speed, Power, an upercut, a couter move (witch makes n e 1 second guess themselves after they get hit by it), a juggle'n sweep with pretty master range and he's got about 12 diferent anti air attacks/ combo's that u can do that range from 2 to 5 hits. N if that was'nt enough, he's got 3-4 anti air crossups that go into supers incase ur fighting a parry master that can parry all of ur other anti air combo's.

Doesen't he have unblockables?

Yea he's got unblockables, but their ligitimate and gladly no one complains about em. Maybe I didnt pick up on your scarcasm, but were you makin a joke?

I say go for Dudley cause I believe he will make you a much better player overall compared to Yun. And like you said, you'll kind of create a more unique play-style with him, just reason enough to play him =0.

Yun is HARD. But putting time into him will definitely give you returns. He's the best character in the game ffs.

I think you should play Remy for a bit. Why? Because he hardly has any special combos and such for you to constantly try and land. The entire round you have to just slowly chip away at the enemy with your pokes and such. Guess you could say the same for twelve. Maybe that way it'll improve your basic game.

But don't leave Yun. Being a GJ monster is enough reason in my book to play him as your main.

How come i never get any GGs from you?

If you wanna play Dudley mirrors im totally down for that. Just hit me up on aim. I think it would be mad fun. However, i se how your torn with this decision...your Yun is mad fun to play against. I say have Yun as your MAIN and Duds as a secondary.

How did i play last time? We had a short set i used Ken and Duds.

i played a really good chun last night, i was losing alot and then realized what i was doing wrong, and actually started to do some good mixups and ended winning like 6 in a row.

I know wins don't count, but we had a really good connection. I actually had fun playing him, made me wanna keep playing on xbl.

Our connection sucked pretty hard, you made some smart moves but when we played i had a major migrane. You don't completley suck anymore. Just like i dont COMPLETLEY suck anymore

sure we can get some mirrors, but i'm just learning dudley.

Rush more with ken, and keep up with the good spacing, staying at c.mk range when poking is good.

Also stop random hp srk... just dangerous. As well as stop taking risky parrys, just block.
