OLd consoles and widescreen tv

Im going out to buy a new tv and before I do I have a question about widescreen.
Will dreamcast/saturn/ps2 fighting games stretch to 16:9 on a widescreen Tv or stay in 4:3

If they do stretch is the picture very distorted or funny looking?

I think it's optional on most TV's.

You can play the games in 4x3 on a widescreen TV through the TV's settings, unless you like your Magneto fat.
