A kara throw extends the distance on your throw.Some are more useful than others.There are tutorials on Youtube,and pretty much all over,so you can start by looking there.

Kara means empty in Japanese. Its when you start an attack and then you cancel that attack with a throw animation without connecting that attack. Making it an empty cancel, thus Kara-throw. For example Ryu, F.MP, LP+LK is his kara-throw.
