I would like a boot disk that will allow me to
boot the USA Dreamcast in VGA mode
swap in a non-pirated Japanese VGA game
play the game in VGA mode.

Does such a boot disk exist?

I ask because
the boot disks I've tried will only load games properly for TV mode.

There is a way that you can time switching the disks and flipping the VGA switch and get it to sometimes work, but the timing is too much of a mystery. That is unless someone has the stop watch sequence written down.

Supposedly there is a disk with which you can boot direct to VGA but only with pirated games hacked to do so.

Any help on this topic area is appreciated and it will go to a good cause of playing fighting games.

Some Dreamcast games don't support VGA mode. I know this, because I had a VGA box for the DC, and they will not load up as long as you are connected to a VGA box. KOF '99 Evolution is one I can think of off the top of my head. The majority of 3D fighters and 3D games in general SHOULD work with the VGA box, bootleg or not, but 2D is a bit of a mixed bag.

I was upset that Ikaruga didn't boot with the Utopia disc. I paid good money for the awesome game and I could not figure out why it did not go through VGA mode.

It was sad that I had to resort to using the ISO instead of the legit game to boot it up in VGA mode.

I recall that there was a VGA box that did the bypass swap code to output into VGA even if you used a swap disc.
