So my xbox is flaking the fuck out...shit freezes after a couple of mins. Figure it's my DVD drive and i'm gonna need a new one. Originally I was just going to trade my xbox in towards a 360....but then I heard 3S isn't backwards compatible...so that fucked shit up. So any Idea where I can get a new xbox drive that won't anal rape me on shipping?

I live in montreal and if I buy one off ebay, i'm gonna have to pay like 15-20 shipping + customs and at that point I might as well trade this fucker in.

So any tips? Should I trade it in and pray that 3s get's the backwards compatability deal going? Shit, I wish PS2 online had the 3s scene.
Does Jet Set Radio Future work on 360? If that does, I might just trade it in anyway.

Thanks in advance.

If you're getting lockups and no disc read errors, more than likely it's your MCPX chip on the Xbox motherboard which isn't replaceable :wasted:

Have you ensured that the fan is still working? If it is, replacing the drive is relatively simple. http://xbox-scene.com/ has plenty of info on what drives will work, as well as a step-by-step guide for replacement. If the drive doesn't fix it, then it could very well be something more low level, such as 9tendo suggests.
